I Use Illusions To Control The Whole World Chapter 3
Hypnosis
Viper Gang Headquarters.
Inside a dimly lit hall, Su Mu sat in a Wheelchair. Behind him was a massive and eye-catching wall, covered in dazzling dark gold patterns. Upon closer inspection, one would notice that these patterns were actually densely intertwined ouroboros—snakes biting their own tails—forming countless mysterious symbols.
In front of him stood a tightly packed group of men, easily over a hundred. All of them were muscular men dressed in black suits with ties, and all bore black viper tattoos on their necks.
Around the hall, candles were placed along with some kind of incense that filled the air with a faint jasmine fragrance.
“Chief!” the black-suited men shouted in unison. Their fierce and rugged faces were filled with fanatical devotion, and their eyes looked at Su Mu as if he were a god.
Su Mu nodded calmly and began his daily hypnosis session. This was one of his daily routines—using hypnosis to carry out Mental Power Consumption.
He had taught himself hypnosis. He had read every hypnosis book available on the market. The effective methods recorded in those books were few, and the process was extremely complicated. Anyone with the slightest mental defenses wouldn’t be easily hypnotized.
But that only applied to ordinary people. He was different. He possessed Mental Power far beyond what normal people could imagine. With this overwhelming Mental Power, his hypnosis techniques became miraculous.
Yet such a savage gang behaved like meek lambs before Su Mu.
Months ago, Su Mu had begun to infiltrate and take over the Viper Gang using hypnosis. He started with a lone gang member, used Mental Power to hypnotize him, and then had that hypnotized man call in his close friend, then that friend’s friend… and day after day, bit by bit, the entire core of the Viper Gang fell under hypnosis.
No matter how ruthless they were, they were still just ordinary people and had no way to resist such extraordinary means.
For someone like Su Mu—who had once been the Heavenly Emperor of the Immortal Realm, Supreme Lord of the Demon Realm, and the God Master of the Divine Realm—controlling a street gang gave him no sense of achievement. The Viper Gang was simply a tool for Mental Power Consumption.
Hypnosis wasn’t permanent. Like brainwashing, if not maintained over time, it could gradually wear off and rebound.
Under the gaze of the Viper Gang members, Su Mu pulled a dark-gold pocket watch from his chest. It had hollowed-out engravings identical to those on the wall behind him—intertwined ouroboros.
This was the hypnosis symbol he had designed himself. According to the book Real-World Hypnosis Teaching Recordings, hypnosis required a personal symbol to serve as an anchor. This symbol couldn’t be common or familiar. It needed to maintain a sense of mystery and uniqueness, catching attention at first glance.
That’s why he chose the ouroboros—a snake devouring its own tail. It’s an ancient symbol, often circular, sometimes twisted into the figure 8. It represented death and rebirth, eternity and unity, as well as the ideas of infinity, cycles, and immortality.
He gently released the pocket watch. It slid from his hand and dangled in mid-air, suspended by a thin gold chain. It began to swing like a pendulum.
“Everyone, look at the watch,” Su Mu’s deep, magnetic voice flowed like a gentle stream into the ears of the Viper Gang members.
In the next moment, everyone’s gaze locked onto the mysterious pocket watch, swaying their heads along with its movement.
The surrounding incense continued to emit its jasmine scent, while the ouroboros wall behind Su Mu shimmered in harmony with him.
Suddenly, he lowered the tea-colored glasses on his face, revealing the deep gaze behind them. Empowered by Mental Power, his eyes sparkled like stars in the dark night.
Buzz!
An invisible wave of Mental Power spread from his eyes, as though hundreds of invisible serpents were released, slowly burrowing into the minds of the gang members. The fanaticism on their faces was reignited. One after another, they dropped to their knees as if worshipping their god.
“Long live the Chief!”
“Long live the Chief!!”
The chant echoed like thunder and refused to fade.
This was Su Mu’s hypnosis. In essence, hypnosis was simple—it was about guiding the target’s attention, exploiting their mental gap. Making them focus on the pocket watch concentrated their attention externally, which weakened their internal mental defenses.
That was also why he had engraved the ouroboros onto the pocket watch. If it had been just a plain watch, people might glance at it and look away. But with a mysterious design, it drew and held their attention.
The reason he used a pocket watch rather than a wristwatch followed the same logic. In an era when everyone used wristwatches, pulling out an old-fashioned pocket watch was much more eye-catching.
In addition to the pocket watch, the surrounding candles and incense were custom-made. They had a mild calming effect. While harmless to the body, they helped relax the mind.
The ouroboros wall behind him further enhanced the psychological suggestion. As for the tea-colored glasses, they served to hide his eyes and block direct gaze.
Humans had a strange psychology—the less they could see, the more they wanted to see.
Just like a woman in a bikini—though she’s revealing a lot, people’s eyes naturally focus on the parts still covered.
The same principle applied here. When the tea-colored glasses obscured Su Mu’s eyes, people instinctively stared at them, wanting to see what was hidden behind.
So when Su Mu removed his glasses, attention was naturally drawn to his eyes.
All of these techniques had one goal—to direct the target’s focus and then take advantage of the opening.
This form of hypnosis was fairly common and not very effective for ordinary hypnotists. Since they couldn’t use Mental Power, even if they guided someone’s focus, they could only rely on spoken suggestions to plant hints in the subject’s subconscious.
But Su Mu used Mental Power to directly enter and control the target’s spiritual world.
The difference was fundamental.
“Whew.” Su Mu let out a breath of relief. The intense Mental Power Consumption left him feeling incredibly at ease, even physically lighter.
He successfully stood up from the Wheelchair.
He raised his hand lightly, and the chanting ceased immediately. All eyes locked onto him again, waiting devoutly for the god to speak.
“You, stay. The rest can leave.”
With his order, the crowd dispersed, leaving behind one man with a scarred face, narrow triangle eyes, and a bald head. He was tall and muscular, and the black suit on his body was stretched tight, barely able to contain his bulging muscles.
His name was Zhao Chaoyao—a name that was awkward to pronounce and didn’t suit his fierce image. Su Mu never called him by name, always referring to him as “that guy.”
Zhao Chaoyao was a Red Pole of the Viper Gang. Ever since the gang’s senior leadership had all died in an “accident,” he had been responsible for managing everyday affairs. Now, he was essentially second-in-command.
“Chief!” Zhao Chaoyao greeted respectfully.
“That guy, any updates on what I told you to look into?”
“Reporting to Chief, the two men I sent to monitor Yang Dongqing have both lost contact. Yesterday, their bodies were found at the garbage dump near Yang Dongqing’s house.”
“Oh?” Su Mu narrowed his eyes slightly, a flicker of interest rising in his heart. “Cause of death?”
