Legend Management Bureau Chapter 139

Cry for help[ … words ]

[ … words ]

The deity jumped in fright, not expecting the person before him to suddenly draw a weapon. However, he quickly recovered his wits and said,

“You are a servant, aren’t you? For the sake of Zeus and the Twelve Olympians, I will forgive your insolence.”

“There is no need. Let go right now, or I will blind you.”

Du Yu spoke as he pushed his rapier forward, the tip of the blade stopping mere millimeters from the deity’s eye.

The deity seemed to realize Du Yu was not bluffing and slowly released his grip. Yet, the look in his eyes made it clear he had not given up. “So this petite lady is your lover? I will not let you lose out. Let us make an exchange.”

He pointed to a spot not far behind him. A goddess lay there, covered in filth and panting heavily. Her eyes were vacant, and she seemed to have lost consciousness.

“I will trade my sister for her. You will definitely be satisfied.”

Hearing this, Shiranui Asuka hurriedly hid behind Du Yu, trembling like a leaf.

Du Yu’s gaze was ice-cold. He shielded Asuka behind him, keeping his longsword raised steadily in front of him.

The deity seemed to sober up a bit, his voice tinged with anger. “Servant, this is the second time you have disrespected me.”

“Why should I show any respect to an animal?” Du Yu retorted, his own anger flaring.

“Since that is the case, we will settle this with force.” The deity stood up. Only then did Du Yu realize that this man was exceptionally tall. Despite being barely clothed, his aura was astonishing.

“Phobos, are you planning to lay a hand on my servant?” Lamula also slowly stood up, stepping in front of the man named Phobos to block his path.

“Is that so strange, Lamula?” Phobos furrowed his brows slightly. “I represent war and fear, yet I am currently being pointed at with a sword.”

“For the sake of your father, Ares, if you leave right now, I will pretend this never happened.” A golden light began to glow around Lamula as she addressed Phobos. “But if you anger me, I will tear you to pieces.”

Phobos glared at Lamula resentfully. According to the ancestral teachings of the gods, even though Lamula rarely made an appearance, she was both mysterious and incredibly powerful—someone absolutely not to be provoked.

“Hmph.” Phobos sneered. He pointed a warning finger at Du Yu before reluctantly turning and walking away.

Only after seeing the man disappear into the distance did Du Yu turn back to Shiranui Asuka, who was still shivering.

“Are you alright, Asuka?”

After a long moment, she slowly shook her head. “Senior, I… I am fine.”

“I will open a portal. You should go back now,” Du Yu said.

“There is no need…” Asuka shook her head. “Experiencing these foreign cultures is also a part of my training…”

“You really are a stubborn kid…”

The three of them sat back down, the lingering fear still palpable. Du Yu could not help but become wary of everyone around him. If a real fight broke out in a place like this, he definitely would not have the upper hand.

Just as he was deep in thought, a blonde boy carrying a wine jug slowly walked over. It was none other than Zeus’s male favorite, Ganymede.

He bowed low, pouring wine for Lamula as he spoke. “Respected Goddess of Legends, Lamula, Zeus asks that you do not be angry with Phobos.”

“I was quite furious, but my mood has greatly improved upon seeing you.” Lamula chuckled, reaching out to stroke Ganymede’s arm.

Wearing a polite, professional smile, Ganymede bowed slightly to Lamula before turning to Du Yu and pouring him a drink.

“Greetings, O Deity. I do not believe I have seen you in the Divine Realm before.”

Du Yu gave a curt nod but remained silent.

Ganymede finished pouring the wine and was just about to leave when Du Yu spoke softly. “Thank you.”

The blonde boy halted abruptly. He turned his head and asked, “What did you say?”

“I said thank you.” Assuming the boy was hard of hearing, Du Yu repeated himself.

Ganymede had served as a cupbearer here for a very long time, yet no one had ever thanked him before.

“Honored sir, you seem to look different from the rest of us. Who… are you?” Ganymede asked cautiously.

‘Who am I?’ Du Yu pondered for a moment. Since Lamula was using her real identity, there was not much room for him to fabricate a story. He decided to tell the truth. “I am another god from a distant land.”

“A distant land…?” Ganymede’s expression shifted visibly upon hearing this. He turned back around and moved to pour more wine for Du Yu.

“Oh?” Du Yu blinked in surprise. “Hold on, stop pouring. I haven’t even taken a sip yet.”

“No, your goblet is empty, esteemed foreign god.”

Du Yu was slightly confused, as the blonde boy had poured the wine into a bowl in front of him instead of his goblet.

“Sir, I wish to ask… you come from another divine realm, do you not?”

He poured the wine painstakingly slowly, as if trying to stall for time, and questioned Du Yu with feigned nonchalance.

“That is right,” Du Yu nodded.

“Is the ruler of your gods also Zeus?” Ganymede pressed.

“Of course not.”

Ganymede’s body gave a slight shudder, and his pouring hand momentarily paused.

“What is the matter? Are outsiders not welcome here?” Du Yu asked.

“S-Sir…” Ganymede’s hands trembled slightly, making him look incredibly anxious. He leaned close to Du Yu and whispered in a quivering voice, “Could you please help me? Can you take me away? Anywhere is fine… as long as it is not a land ruled by Zeus…”

“Huh?”

Du Yu was stunned. Asuka, sitting right beside him, had also heard the plea. The two exchanged a conflicted glance.

“Ganymede!” Zeus suddenly bellowed from afar. “What are you doing?! My goblet has been empty for ages!”

“Sir! I beg of you!” Tears welled up in Ganymede’s eyes. “If you are willing, I will be waiting for you behind the palace after the banquet ends!”

“I…”

Du Yu did not know how to respond, while Lamula sat quietly beside him, seemingly lost in thought.

“Right away!” Ganymede instantly slapped on his previous bright smile, turning around to hurry back to Zeus.

This boy… Du Yu furrowed his brows. Was he asking for help?

Although saving him would be simple—requiring nothing more than using Zada’s magic to open a portal—was it really a good idea?

If he had never shown up, what would this boy’s fate have been?

“Gods!” Zeus suddenly shouted, his voice rumbling with the faint roar of thunder. “Whatever you are doing, put it on hold for a moment. We still have proper business to attend to at this banquet.”

Hearing Zeus speak, the numerous deities ceased their activities and slowly turned to look at him.

“You all haven’t forgotten the purpose of this gathering, have you?” Zeus smiled. “The mortals in the city-state beneath our feet have just built a magnificent new city, and we need to give it a name.”

As if just recalling this detail, the gods all sat up straight.

“Seeing as you are all quite drunk, we might as well leave the naming to my brother, Poseidon, and my most beloved daughter, Athena.”

Poseidon frowned slightly and said, “Brother, why have two people name the city? Wouldn’t it end up with two names?”

Zeus chuckled and replied, “I have thought of a rather interesting game. Each of you will present a gift representing what mortals need the most. We will observe the mortals’ reactions together. The one who receives the highest praise will be the victor, and the city shall be named after them.”

With a wave of Zeus’s hand, a phantom illusion of the city materialized in the center of the grand hall, slowly rotating.

“Fascinating,” Poseidon smirked. “There is no one in this world who knows what mortals need better than I do.”

Poseidon strode over to the illusion of the city. He struck the ground with his trident, and a handsome white stallion descended into the city. The horse possessed a muscular, agile build and resolute eyes—a truly rare and magnificent steed.

“I present the warhorse!” Poseidon declared. “Such a massive city must be equipped with the finest mounts. Only then can they fend off foreign invaders and prosper day by day!”

The gods gazed at the illusion. When a group of mortals witnessed such a majestic warhorse descending from the heavens, they naturally understood it to be a divine gift and hurriedly dropped to their knees in gratitude.

“Very well.” Zeus nodded approvingly, then turned his gaze to Athena. “My beloved daughter, what about you?”

Athena closed her eyes briefly before rising to her feet. She extended her hand toward the phantom city, and a gigantic tree descended from the sky, planting itself right in the heart of the metropolis. The tree instantly took root, its branches stretching high into the clouds.

“I present the olive tree, and wish the city eternal peace,” Athena announced, her voice melodious and clear.

The gods looked back at the illusion. To everyone’s surprise, all the citizens fell to their knees in devout reverence beneath the olive tree. It seemed they had never imagined the gods would bestow upon them a symbol of peace. Tears streaming down their smiling faces, the masses continually bowed in worship toward the olive tree.

“Peace? What a joke!” Poseidon spat, his face twisted in anger. “If mortals grow accustomed to peace, they will no longer fear us!”

“Father said we needed to present what mortals need the most, not what we need the most,” Athena retorted.

“You!” Highly displeased, Poseidon raised his trident.

“Hold on, wait just a moment.” Zeus reached out a hand. “Brother, are you planning to kill my favorite daughter?”

“So what if I kill her?” Poseidon snarled furiously. “Are you going to fall out with me over this daughter of yours?”

“Of course not.” Zeus shook his head. “If you want to beat her or kill her, you might as well marry her first. That way, she becomes your wife, and you can do as you please with her when you get home. It would be such a pity to outright kill a woman of such peerless, untouched beauty, wouldn’t it?”

Du Yu was dumbfounded. He really could not keep up with the thought process of the Greek gods.

“Hmph… I refuse to marry a woman who ruins my plans.” Poseidon slowly returned to his seat and sat down.

“Very well then,” Zeus nodded. “From this day forth, this city shall be known as Athens.”

So that was how it happened. Du Yu nodded in understanding.

“Athens” certainly sounded much better than “Posei”. One sounded elegant and noble, while the other sounded like a bizarre chest disease.
