Legend Management Bureau Chapter 249
Saving the servant[ … words ]

Du Yu stood stunned for a long time before finally snapping out of it. He lowered his voice and said to Zhan Qisheng, “Old Zhan, what’s going on? What exactly is a ‘Reincarnator’?”
Even though the equipment of the Legend Management Bureau was built by Zhan Qisheng, he was completely bewildered by the current situation.
Did an identity like ‘Reincarnator’ actually exist?
And what was the difference between a ‘Reincarnator’ and an ‘Operator’?
“This… I don’t know either,” Zhan Qisheng said, shaking his head. “I have never seen anything like this…”
Seeing everyone staring at the screen, Xie Yujiao also grew curious. After putting on the helmet just a moment ago, she felt a mysterious power welling up within her body, but thinking about it carefully, it seemed like nothing had actually happened.
“Is there something strange about my constitution?” Xie Yujiao asked.
“No…” Du Yu scratched his head. “Nothing strange at all. It’s quite good. At least you can enter the legends now…”
Xie Yujiao cast a suspicious glance at Du Yu and asked again, “Really?”
Du Yu waved his hand, signaling for everyone to keep quiet for now, as if he had other plans in mind.
So everyone silently dispersed, returning to their respective posts to prepare for this descent.
However, everyone felt a bit apprehensive in their hearts. Could this girl truly be trusted?
As the equipment lit up with spiritual light, the three of them silently closed their eyes.
…
Time: The Wei and Jin dynasties.
Location: South of Luoyang City.
Characters: Bully A, Bully B, and Du Yu, descending.
The moment the three opened their eyes, they found themselves landing right in the middle of a courtyard.
This courtyard looked distinctly unique, packed with countless wine jars of all sizes. The aroma of wine that had seeped into the very walls permeated the air. Just standing there was enough to intoxicate someone, without even needing to take a sip.
The timeline Du Yu had selected was right after Liu Ling had drunk himself to death, during the period when his wife had just become a widow.
“Are we… here?” Xiaonian asked slowly.
“That’s right,” Du Yu nodded. “We are currently in the Wei and Jin period around the year 200 AD. If nothing goes wrong, this is Liu Ling’s house.”
Xie Yujiao and Xiaonian had never seen a scene like this before, so they could only nod dumbly.
“Don’t be too nervous, you two. Just remember to play your roles well. This isn’t difficult.” Du Yu patted their shoulders to encourage them. “If you have any problems, just call for Sister Qianqiu in your minds, and she will answer all your questions.”
The two did indeed look a bit nervous, constantly glancing around.
Xiaonian muttered to herself, “What a realistic set…”
“What do you mean ‘a realistic set’? This is completely real.” Du Yu felt a pang of anxiety. Was Xiaonian really going to be okay?
“Xiaonian, repeat your mission objective for me,” Du Yu instructed.
“Mission… objective?” Wearing the face of a fierce bandit, Xiaonian somehow managed to show an expression of absolute innocence.
“My god! You didn’t forget, did you?” Du Yu exclaimed anxiously. “You are here to demand money, understand? When Liu Ling was drunk, he rode his horse and ruined your fields. You two are here to demand compensation for that incident!”
“Oh, oh, oh…” Xiaonian nodded sheepishly. “I remember, I remember… We talked about this earlier…”
Du Yu still couldn’t completely put his mind at ease. The two women wore looks of sheer excitement, resembling children who had never seen the world.
“Then we’ll stick to the original plan. Smashing a jar is the signal. Once a jar shatters, I’ll rush in and save the day!”
Seeing the two nod, Du Yu backed out of the courtyard. From here on out, he just needed to take a stroll down the street and wait for the cries for help from inside.
“Sister Qianqiu, keep a close eye on their situation for me. I’m still feeling uneasy about this,” Du Yu said.
“Understood.” Dong Qianqiu nodded, simultaneously pulling up two monitors. One half displayed Du Yu wandering the streets, and the other showed Xie Yujiao and Xiaonian in Liu Ling’s courtyard.
She watched as the two “bullies” acted rather bashful, hesitating in the courtyard for a long time before finally making a move.
“Big sister Xie Yujiao, let’s get ready to start,” Xiaonian said.
“Okay…” Xie Yujiao nodded.
Xiaonian reached up and slapped her own cheeks to psych herself up, and in an instant, the look in her eyes completely transformed.
Xie Yujiao was genuinely startled when she saw that gaze. Xiaonian’s aura, demeanor, expression, and movements were now flawlessly that of a local tyrant.
Xiaonian let out a cold snort, even her voice turning rough and gravelly. “Brother, let’s move. Today, we’ll show that widow exactly what we’re made of.”
Xie Yujiao seemed to be infected by the ‘Big Brother’s’ imposing presence. In a flash, she felt as if she truly was a ruffian. Bracing herself, she followed Xiaonian toward the house.
Liu Ling’s house was not exactly wealthy, but it looked incredibly spacious. The courtyard was essentially monopolized by wine vats, and it took quite a while to approach the main rooms.
Standing before the door, Xie Yujiao had wanted to discuss tactics with Xiaonian, but she watched as Xiaonian delivered a flying kick that smashed the door wide open.
This wild and unbridled action gave Xie Yujiao a massive fright. For a split second, she felt that the person in front of her was clearly a real thug, not Xiaonian at all.
Xiaonian started cursing aggressively, “Your granddaddy has been here for ages, did the people inside go deaf?! Hurry up and get out here to welcome me!”
Seeing Xiaonian’s fierce momentum, Xie Yujiao also felt a surge of motivation. She trotted a few steps forward and kicked over a square table. It had to be said that their grand entrance was sufficiently “tyrannical” to thoroughly intimidate a widow.
However, what nobody could have ever anticipated was that there wasn’t just a widow in the room.
There was also a young man.
At this moment, the man and the woman were scantily clad, lying on the bed and staring blankly at the uninvited guests who had just stormed into the house.
“Eh?”
Xiaonian and Xie Yujiao were both dumbfounded, and even Dong Qianqiu was stunned.
“Du Yu! We have a problem!” Dong Qianqiu said in an odd tone. “Things aren’t exactly as we expected!”
“Huh?” Du Yu paused. “What happened?”
Dong Qianqiu explained the situation inside the room in a few brief sentences, leaving Du Yu in a tough spot.
What was this? Wasn’t Liu Ling’s wife supposed to be a widow for three years?
From the looks of it, her life during these three years was going to be quite colorful.
“Sister Qianqiu, tell Xiaonian that the plan has changed! Tell her to just roll with it!” Du Yu immediately came up with a new idea and conveyed it to Dong Qianqiu.
After quietly listening to Dong Qianqiu’s Voice Transmission, Xiaonian’s gaze turned vicious once again. Pointing at the man and woman, she bellowed, “Well, well! You shameless adulterers! My brother Liu Ling has been dead for less than seven days, and you’re already hooking up. Are you completely devoid of conscience?!”
The couple was already looking flustered, but upon hearing that the intruders were actually old acquaintances of Liu Ling, they tumbled off the bed in pure terror, falling to their knees and kowtowing repeatedly on the floor.
“Grand Masters, spare our lives! Grand Masters, spare us!” the Madam cried out. “It was this brute who forced himself upon me! This humble woman was left with no choice!”
The young man froze for a moment before tremblingly pleading, “Madam, how could you say that? Grand Masters, please see clearly! It was the Madam who seduced me!”
Xiaonian and Xie Yujiao exchanged a glance, unsure of what to do next. After all, their purpose in coming here wasn’t to catch an adulterous affair in the act.
“Xiaonian, Du Yu wants you to figure out that man’s identity,” Dong Qianqiu whispered into Xiaonian’s ear.
“Understood.”
Xiaonian nodded and dragged a square table over from the side. Everyone thought she was going to take a seat, but instead, she reeled her arm back and brought it smashing down with vicious force. The table shattered on impact, giving even Xie Yujiao a fright.
“You damned wretch!” Xiaonian pointed menacingly at the young man and roared, “Who the hell are you? If you don’t explain yourself right now, your granddaddy will smash you into pieces just like this table!”
Even though the young man was terrified out of his wits, he still managed to stammer out, “You clearly claim to be an old acquaintance of the Master, but you don’t recognize this lowly one?”
Xiaonian let out a cold snort, stepping forward and delivering a vicious kick that sent the young man sprawling to the ground. The kick landed squarely on his jaw.
Blood immediately spilled from the young man’s mouth, terrifying the Madam kneeling beside him.
“Your granddaddy is the one asking the questions here!” Xiaonian spat on the floor and roared, “Since when was it your turn to interrogate me?!”
“Ding Chun! What are you doing?!” the Madam cried out frantically at the young man. “These two Grand Masters are not to be trifled with! Why can’t you keep your mouth shut?!”
The young man named Ding Chun struggled to climb back up, pleading, “Grand Masters, I am truly sorry. I just had a bit of doubt. When the Master was alive, this lowly one was inseparable from him. If you two Grand Masters knew the Master, you shouldn’t be unfamiliar with me…”
Xiaonian glared fiercely at Ding Chun and demanded, “Do you want another kick?”
“N-no, I wouldn’t dare…” Ding Chun frantically kowtowed and said, “I’ll confess, I’ll confess everything… This lowly one’s name is Ding Chun. I was Master Liu Ling’s personal servant, normally responsible for leading his horse and guiding the way…”
“Oh?” Xiaonian frowned and interrogated further. “And when exactly did you start hooking up with my sister-in-law?!”
“Grand Master! You can’t blame this lowly one for that…” the servant wailed with a miserable face. “In order to drink, the Master sold off almost the entire family estate. Only the three of us living souls were left in the courtyard. But every time the Master came home, he would be blackout drunk, leaving the Madam to sleep in an empty bed alone…”
“So you are blaming my brother Liu Ling?!” Fury erupted in Xiaonian’s eyes as she stepped forward and grabbed the servant by the collar.
“I wouldn’t dare! I wouldn’t dare! I promise I’ll never secretly meet with the Madam again!”
Hearing this, Xiaonian’s expression turned frigid, and she tossed the servant aside.
The current situation seemed to be a bit unusual. She silently asked Dong Qianqiu in her mind, ‘Teacher Qianqiu, what should we do now?’
Dong Qianqiu didn’t have any ideas either, so she could only pass the question on to Du Yu.
Du Yu pondered carefully for a moment before speaking up. “Sister Qianqiu, tell Xiaonian to beat him up. The original plan proceeds as usual, except ‘hero saves the beauty’ is going to become ‘hero saves the servant’. This might just work.”
“Hero saves the servant?” Even though Dong Qianqiu didn’t quite understand, she relayed the exact words to Xiaonian.
“Understood.”
Xiaonian nodded and simply picked up a wooden club from the ground. She looked down at the servant named Ding Chun, flashing a genuinely terrifying smile.
