Fuxi appears[ … words ]

Houtu saw Ying Ning being brutally tortured high up in the sky, and for some inexplicable reason, her heart ached.
Even though it was their first time meeting, she felt as if she had known this girl for a very long time.
“Even if she is a great god… going this far is simply too much. This Old Lady won’t allow it!”
Houtu hesitated for only a fraction of a second before launching herself into the air like a bolt of lightning.
The world always said Nüwa was a great god of the upper realm; surely she couldn’t be completely unreasonable.
Before Houtu could even fly thirty meters into the air, the Yan Emperor swiftly rose and firmly intercepted her mid-flight.
“Tu’er, what are you doing!?”
“Great High Father! What are you all doing? Hurry and save her!”
“Don’t be foolish!” The Yan Emperor forcefully yanked Houtu directly out of the sky and back down to the ground. “A great god of the upper realm wants them dead. There is absolutely nothing we can do to change that!”
“Tu’er!” the Yan Emperor bellowed. “I don’t care why they have to die, I only know that I cannot let you throw your life away!”
High up in the sky.
Ying Ning gasped heavily for air, her entire body screaming in agonizing pain that threatened to knock her unconscious.
Nüwa seemed to have finally had her fill of playing around. The corners of her lips curled up slightly as she spoke in a slow, deliberate tone:
“It truly angers me how you lot play with the entire mortal realm in the palms of your hands. Every Great Pivot in this world ought to…”
Hearing Nüwa speak, Dong Qianqiu inhaled sharply.
But before the word “die” could leave Nüwa’s lips, a hand gently covered her mouth.
Everyone looked up and saw that a second figure had emerged from the rift in the sky.
This person looked remarkably similar to Nüwa. They also possessed a human torso and a snake’s tail, measuring nearly ten meters in length.
“Younger sister, calm down,” the figure said slowly.
Hearing those words, the crowd naturally understood that the person who had just appeared was Nüwa’s elder brother, Great Emperor Fuxi.
Nüwa turned to stare blankly at Fuxi, but with his hand gently covering her mouth, she couldn’t utter a single sound.
“Empty your mind,” Fuxi ordered, a disdainful expression flashing across his face. “I did not tell you to strike, did I?”
Nüwa had been harboring a trace of anger, but after hearing Fuxi’s words, she gradually calmed down. She let out a soft sigh, slowly closed her eyes, and murmured, “Yes, Brother. I was wrong. I was too hasty.”
Relieved to hear this, Fuxi reached into his robes and pulled out a sheer veil shimmering with seven-colored light. He then gently tied it over Nüwa’s eyes.
“Younger sister, wait here. You absolutely must not let your mind fall into chaos again.”
Hearing this, Nüwa nodded silently.
Fuxi quickly looked around, an indescribable worry etched into his brows. “How did Buzhou Mountain collapse? How has the sky torn apart?”
Turning his head, his gaze fell upon Ying Ning and Zhan Qisheng nearby. He hurriedly flew down to examine their wounds.
Gathering a warm surge of energy in his hand, Fuxi seamlessly reattached Ying Ning’s severed arm. However, he quickly realized that Nüwa’s strike had completely shattered Ying Ning’s heart meridian, prompting him to shake his head repeatedly.
“Young lady, I am truly sorry. My sister has not seen anyone in a very long time and has forgotten how to interact with others. That, combined with the collapse of Buzhou Mountain, gave her a terrible fright…”
Though he spoke words of apology, Fuxi knew that this girl had virtually no chance of survival. He let out a helpless sigh, a trace of genuine guilt crossing his face.
Fuxi then glanced at Zhan Qisheng on the side; the man’s wounds were so impossibly severe that there wasn’t even any point in attempting treatment.
“I apologize immensely,” Fuxi said. “I do not know how I could possibly make amends right now. If you have any unfulfilled wishes, tell me.”
Ying Ning gritted her teeth fiercely and spat, “I want Nüwa dead.”
Fuxi furrowed his brows. “While I am deeply apologetic, I have no obligation to fulfill a request born of vengeance. This opportunity is rare. Would you like to change your wish?”
Ying Ning turned her head to look at him, her eyes slowly narrowing. Truth be told, she couldn’t quite figure out what this man was thinking.
“Seven days…”
Zhan Qisheng slowly spoke up from the side.
“Little Zhan, what did you say?” Ying Ning frantically asked as she turned back to him.
“Seven days… Dragon Ancestor Island…” Zhan Qisheng choked out, using every last ounce of his fading strength. “Save Du Yu.”
Ying Ning finally snapped back to reality. If she let her emotions dictate her actions here, she would end up losing even more. “Yes… in seven days, I hope you will travel to Dragon Ancestor Island… A catastrophic calamity is unfolding there…”
“Very well. I understand,” Fuxi agreed. “I will fulfill your wish.”
Just as his voice fell, a bizarre pillar of light plummeted from the sky, forcing Fuxi to take a step back.
The next second, Zhan Qisheng vanished from his spot. In the air, a solitary emerald-green Writing Brush was all that remained, tumbling toward the ground.
Before anyone could react, a young man reeking of alcohol leaped into the air, firmly caught the Writing Brush, and plunged himself right into the bizarre pillar of light.
…
“Medic!!!!” Dong Qianqiu screamed at the top of his lungs, his voice tearing at his throat. The situation had completely spiraled out of control. The three operators who entered the Buzhou Mountain Legend were all critically injured.
Zhi Nv and Ying Ning’s heart meridians had been shattered, while Zhan Qisheng’s chest had been blasted completely through, leaving behind a horrifying, gaping hole.
If it hadn’t been for Ying Ning’s ice temporarily freezing his flesh and blood, Zhan Qisheng would already be dead.
But ice would inevitably melt, and Zhan Qisheng’s blood would eventually bleed dry.
It was simply a matter of time.
Looking like a mechanical puppet running out of power, Zhan Qisheng lay limply inside the Descent Equipment, staring blankly at the ceiling.
The four great divine physicians had barely finished tending to Zhi Nv’s injuries before rushing over to treat Zhan Qisheng.
But they only needed a single glance before their expressions uniformly shifted to utter helplessness.
Hua Tuo was the first to speak. “This man has lost his heart. There is no one in this world who can save him.”
“Don’t mind me,” Zhan Qisheng rasped weakly. “Save Ying Ning.”
“Alas…” Bian Que sighed helplessly, shaking his head. “Though the world claims our medical skills will echo through eternity, we cannot cure everyone. The three of you are currently hanging by a thread, and it is no longer within our power to decide who stays and who goes. If you want to survive, you will need a monumental stroke of destiny.”
“A monumental stroke of destiny…” Zhan Qisheng offered a bitter smile, tears swimming in his eyes. “If that is truly the case, I am willing to transfer every bit of destiny I have in this life to Ying Ning. She has already suffered far too much for my sake. She shouldn’t meet such an end.”
Dragon Ancestor Island.
When Du Yu and the others looked up, they suddenly noticed two strange figures with human torsos and snake tails manifesting in the sky.
And from Fuxi and Nüwa’s perspective, Du Yu and the rest had also appeared out of thin air.
Both sides stared in mutual bewilderment for a fleeting second before Nüwa and Fuxi regained their bearings, slowly descending to the ground.
At this exact moment, Yinglong finished channeling his energy. Taking advantage of the monks’ momentary daze, he instantly unleashed a massive torrent of dragon breath.
Yinglong had been accumulating his strength all this time, and now was the perfect chance to wipe out this entire mob of monks in one fell swoop.
Before the monks could even snap out of their shock over Nüwa’s sudden descent, the sheer inferno of the dragon breath was already washing over their faces.
With no time to dodge, countless monks were instantly reduced to fine ash, scattering to the wind.
Initially, Nüwa and Fuxi hadn’t quite grasped the situation here. They only knew they had come to Dragon Ancestor Island to fulfill the dying wishes of two mortals.
They never expected to witness a colossal dragon suddenly embark on a bloody massacre the moment they arrived.
“Insolent,” Nüwa stated coldly. “It seems you are the true calamity here. Even if you are the Dragon Ancestor, I cannot spare you.”
