Legend Management Bureau Chapter 373
A terrifying future[ … words ]
[ … words ]
Ten people slowly descended from the sky.
Their uniforms were identical, entirely dressed in traditional hunting robes with flowing bat-wing kimono sleeves. The group consisted of both men and women, and without exception, every single one of them carried a massive pair of Scissors strapped to their backs.
The man standing at the very front had his face covered in flame tattoos. He wore a deep red metallic earring and gave off an incredibly imposing aura.
“Brother Kashin!!” Shiranui Asuka exclaimed in delight. “You guys are finally willing to show up!”
The man known as Kashin gave A’xiang a doting look, then walked toward her.
A’xiang opened her arms wide, ready to give the man a massive hug. To her surprise, he completely bypassed her and went straight to Xie Yujiao.
Before Xie Yujiao could even react, the man took her hand and said, “Beautiful maiden, I, Shiranui Kashin, have had my eyes on you for quite some time. Might I have the honor of knowing your name?”
Before Xie Yujiao could answer, A’xiang jumped up and smacked Kashin hard on the back of the head.
“Ouch!”
Unwilling to concede, A’xiang reached out and pinched his cheeks right back. “You stinky brother! When are you ever going to be as good as Brother Jinjianglang?”
“Eldest brother has spoiled you rotten! Watch me pinch your cheeks until they swell up!”
Kashin wanted to tease A’xiang a bit more, but he suddenly felt a cold chill at his throat. An Array Flag was pressed directly against his neck.
Both of them froze at the same time.
Xie Yujiao spoke with an icy tone, “Who gave you permission to touch my hand?”
“Eh?!” Kashin’s face flushed with sheer embarrassment. Completely at a loss for words, he hurriedly let go of Shiranui Asuka’s cheeks and shot her a desperate look pleading for help. “Little Xiang… what’s the deal with this lady? Come on, help me out here.”
Shiranui Asuka muttered under her breath, feeling a bit confused herself. She didn’t know Xie Yujiao very well, but she never expected her to be this conservative.
“S-Sister Xie Yujiao… please don’t be mad. Brother Kashin has always been like this…”
“A’xiang, you don’t need to explain on his behalf,” Xie Yujiao interrupted. “This isn’t a problem with you, it’s a problem with this scoundrel.”
Right at that moment, an exceptionally cold and stern-looking woman walked over from the group.
“Sister Tsukimizake…” Seeing this person, A’xiang couldn’t help but take a step back. She clearly seemed like a difficult character to deal with.
“Madam, my name is Shiranui Tsukimizake. If you wish to kill this idiot, then strike now,” Tsukimizake said coldly. “We traveled thousands of miles from Fusang to provide support, only to have our leader slain by an Immortal Being of Huaxia. Come to think of it, that would be quite an interesting turn of events.”
At those words, Xie Yujiao’s expression shifted.
She knew these people had come to help Du Yu, and no matter what, she couldn’t afford to put him in an awkward position.
“Hmph!” Xie Yujiao scoffed coldly, withdrawing the Array Flag from Kashin’s neck. “For Du Yu’s sake, I’ll let him off this once!”
Tsukimizake scoffed in return and turned to look at Shiranui Asuka. “Asuka, do you have all your things on you?”
“Things? What things…” Shiranui Asuka asked in confusion.
“Your personal belongings.”
Although puzzled, Shiranui Asuka looked down at the small Backpack she carried with her and said, “I-I have them…”
“Good. Come with us.” Tsukimizake turned away, speaking without a shred of emotion. “This battle is going to be lost very soon. The things we can do here are limited, so it’s better to leave while we still can.”
“Eh?!”
Both Shiranui Asuka and Xie Yujiao were caught completely off guard.
“Leave?!” A’xiang’s voice trembled slightly. “Why would we leave…”
Shiranui Kashin also recovered his composure by now. Calming his breathing, he said, “That’s right, Little Xiang. We showed ourselves this time precisely to take you away.”
“But why?!” Shiranui Asuka was utterly bewildered. “Aren’t we going to help Senior Du Yu?! If we leave, what will happen to Shuten Doji and the others?”
Shiranui Tsukimizake sneered. “Shuten? They’re just a bunch of notorious Yokai. Let them stay here and die.”
“How can you say that?!” Shiranui Asuka immediately took several steps back. “I’m not leaving! We’re going to win this war! Senior Du Yu and the others are still fighting so hard. I absolutely refuse to give up!”
Tsukimizake glanced back, giving A’xiang a freezing look before turning away again. “See? I told you she wouldn’t leave.”
Shiranui Kashin walked up to Asuka and gently stroked her head. “A’xiang, they really are going to lose. An overwhelming amount of Threads is about to descend upon us, and no one will be able to escape.”
Shiranui Asuka froze, completely choked up by his words.
She knew that Shiranui Kashin was born with a special ability that allowed him to foresee the arrival of Threads before they appeared.
“Brother Kashin… what are you talking about?”
Shiranui Kashin replied, “It won’t be long before all of Huaxia is covered in Threads. I’ve never seen such a colossal mass of Threads in my life. There are hundreds of billions, perhaps trillions of them, and every single one is as unshakeable as a Pillar of Heaven.”
“W-Wait a minute!” Shiranui Asuka’s eyes widened in horror. “Threads only appear when the past is altered… Why would Threads show up in the middle of Senior Du Yu’s war?”
Shiranui Kashin shook his head. “I don’t know why, but my senses are never wrong. Just thinking about the sheer scale of those Threads sends shivers down my spine.”
A’xiang’s heart raced faster and faster. She knew the current situation was incredibly dangerous, but she simply couldn’t wrap her head around it.
A war happening right before their very eyes was actually going to alter history, triggering an apocalyptic flood of Threads. What in the world was going on?
A’xiang kept smacking her own head with her small fists. “If only I wasn’t so stupid… If only I were as smart as Senior Du Yu…”
Unwilling to watch Asuka hurt herself, Kashin quickly caught her wrists. “Little Xiang, are you ready to come with us now?”
A’xiang narrowed her eyes in thought for a brief moment before asking, “Brother Kashin, how long until this future you ‘foresaw’ actually descends?”
Hearing this, a trace of hesitation flickered across Kashin’s face. “Little Xiang, what are you planning to do?”
“Stop dodging the question and tell me!” Shiranui Asuka demanded anxiously. “I need to know the exact timeline! How long before those Threads appear?”
Shiranui Kashin let out a heavy sigh and said, “In about one to two hours, the skies of Huaxia will be blotted out by Threads. After that, it will be utter devastation and endless suffering for all living things.”
