Legend Management Bureau Chapter 423
The death of you si[ … words ]
[ … words ]
It was unknown what year this was, but You Si had put her veil back on and entered a tribal settlement.
By now, she had grown somewhat weary of slaughter. She tried her best to avoid drawing attention to herself and refrained from talking to others as much as possible.
Du Yu seemed to understand this feeling.
Just as humans possessed the power to crush a bug to death, no one would choose to spend day and night endlessly squashing them.
You Si wandered from one village to the next without speaking to a single soul. Du Yu couldn’t fathom what she was actually searching for.
In just two or three days, someone completely unexpected to Du Yu appeared.
The figure materialized suddenly in front of You Si on an empty, open road, as if he had been standing there all along.
Shrouded in black mist and rippling with a dangerous aura, it was none other than Maudgalyayana, the very same man who had previously clashed with Du Yu.
“Are you You Si?” Maudgalyayana asked.
“It really is you? This is wonderful!” Maudgalyayana fell to his knees with a heavy thud. “Mother! You are Mother!”
“Mother?!” You Si took a slight step back. Only three people in this world had the right to call her Mother, and the monk before her didn’t look like any of them.
“I am the First in Supernatural Powers under the command of Mahakala, known as Maudgalyayana. Right now, hundreds of our brothers are acting on the Buddha’s orders, traveling through all of time and space to find you, Mother! This humble monk has searched for thirty-three years. I never expected to actually find you!”
“Searching for me across all of time and space…?” You Si gave Maudgalyayana a puzzled look. “What do you want with me?”
A trace of frantic madness surfaced in Maudgalyayana’s smile. “The Buddha has found the path to the Ultimate Darkness. He has sent me to bring Mother home!”
Only then did You Si recall that a certain child had indeed said those exact words a long, long time ago.
But You Si hadn’t taken it seriously, treating it as nothing more than the babbling of a dream.
Had that child truly established the Extremely Dark World?
Could the dynasty he resided in now completely accept outcasts like them?
You Si agreed to Maudgalyayana’s request and departed with him to Mahakala’s era.
Before Du Yu could even get a clear look at Mahakala’s hiding place, You Si had already arrived in an area of absolute, blinding darkness.
After landing, You Si glanced around and asked, “This is the Ultimate Darkness?”
After all, the scene before her didn’t quite match what she had envisioned.
This didn’t look like a normal world; it looked more like a hidden lair.
“Mother, you misunderstand. The Ultimate Darkness is not a location, but a state of being. Mahakala will send us all into the realm of the Ultimate Darkness. As long as you receive his salvation, your mind will become flawlessly clear, and everywhere will be the Ultimate Darkness.”
“This is what you call the Ultimate Darkness?” Disappointment was clearly etched on You Si’s face, but she quickly thought of something else and asked, “Young Kid, can all your brothers traverse Time?”
“That’s right!” Maudgalyayana nodded. “With the exception of Mahakala himself, all of us can appear at any point in time in this world.”
Now You Si was truly perplexed. From what she knew, there weren’t many people capable of traveling through time. So why could everyone in the Extremely Dark World do it?
“Just what kind of people… are all of you?” You Si asked again.
“We are all unfortunate souls saved by Mahakala,” Maudgalyayana said with a smile. “After rescuing us, he used a unique spell to bestow Suffering upon us. From then on, we could descend into any point in time.”
Hearing this, Du Yu was also a bit baffled. He knew perfectly well that all the black-clad monks could travel through time; after all, he had already witnessed their abilities in the Legends of Gonggong and Nuwa. But why couldn’t Mahakala travel through time?
In terms of physical constitution, weren’t they exactly the same kind of people?
The two walked forward through the pitch-black space, soon arriving at its deepest depths.
Ghostly blue torches were lit here, casting flickering, dim light. Numerous monks sat within the gloom, chanting scriptures in a bizarre and eerie scene.
Many familiar faces were among the monks, most of whom had been seen during the great war, yet He Suoyi was nowhere to be found.
Sitting right in the center of all the monks was a seven- or eight-year-old child, and behind him towered a massive Buddha radiating black light.
“I beg the Buddha to bestow the Ultimate Darkness upon me!!” A man who looked like a village peasant knelt on the ground, kowtowing repeatedly.
Mahakala gave a slight nod and extended his right hand. The giant Buddha behind him mirrored the gesture, extending its right hand as well.
Amidst the continuously echoing chants of scripture, the black Buddha grasped the peasant in its hand and gave a gentle squeeze, sending fresh blood trickling out from between its fingers.
“Now, I officially bestow Suffering upon you. You are one of my believers.”
After speaking, the hand opened again. The peasant had transformed into a black-clad monk. He retained the exact same appearance as before, but his aura had completely changed.
“This!” The peasant looked down at his own hands. “Such boundless power… Is this… is this the Ultimate Darkness?”
‘No, that’s not right…’ Du Yu finally understood. ‘Their minds have indeed been cleared, but this isn’t some passage to the realm of Ultimate Darkness at all. This is a transformation from a Mortal into an Immortal… When a Mortal suddenly acquires Immortal power, they naturally believe they’ve achieved complete enlightenment and transcended to another realm.’
The reason these people were able to traverse time was because they perfectly matched the characteristics of a “Great Pivot of Wrongful Death”—being saved by Mahakala made them a Great Pivot, and being killed by him constituted a Wrongful Death.
“Mother, the Buddha has many people requiring salvation these past two days, so he has no time to attend to you. How about I accompany you for a stroll around the area first?”
“Hmm… very well.”
Over the course of three days, You Si toured every corner of Mahakala’s hideout and got acquainted with several of the monks.
She felt the atmosphere here closely resembled the world she had once dreamed of. After all, everyone standing here was an outcast of heaven and earth.
But she also knew that this was, at the end of the day, just a pitch-black underground cavern, not a “world” at all.
On the fourth day, You Si finally met Mahakala. He was currently casting his spell on the last believer. She watched as he ruthlessly crushed the believer to death in his hand, then granted the man a new life.
It wasn’t long before Mahakala finished casting his spell. He lifted his head and immediately spotted You Si.
“Mother!” He immediately broke into a smile and slowly stood up, the massive Buddha behind him rising along with him.
“You…” You Si naturally saw through Mahakala’s trick just now. He seemed capable of absorbing the world’s Suffering and then projecting that Suffering outward. When a Mortal endured such immense Suffering, it was incredibly easy for them to fall into the demonic path and instantly gain power. This was what he referred to as the “Ultimate Darkness.”
“I’ve found a place where we can live together!” Mahakala waved his hands in excitement. “It’s the Ultimate Darkness! I’ve found the Ultimate Darkness for Mother!”
You Si felt something was off and frowned slightly. “Young Kid… you want to bring me into the Ultimate Darkness… Don’t tell me you’re planning to use that filthy hand to crush me to death?!”
