By the time he was done eating the city, no world guardian had shown up. This gave him another round of disappointment.

The fact that all of this eating isn’t making him stronger in any way, because he has reached his limit of growth that Fenrir can help him with, also increased the impact of the disappointment. After all, eating entire cities has now become a chore that he doesn’t want to do, not something beneficial to look forward to.

Unfortunately, this was the best way he knew to attract the ire of the world. There was nothing better to do to make a world guardian come to him.

So he sighed and said, “I guess I have to eat a fourth city. If that won’t work, then I will eat ten cities in a row. If that still doesn’t work, then I will eat this entire desert. Let’s see how the world will react then.”

As he said this, he made sure to use his Mental World to transmit his words into the surroundings. That way, the will of the world will hear him. He did this so that the will of the world would take him seriously.

He is sure that he can destroy this world, specifically by eating it a little bit at a time. But he doesn’t want to resort to something so noisy since it would draw the attention of the divine beings above.

If he were alone with a world, he would give this option a shot in a heartbeat. But he is a thief trying to steal an entire world from right under the noses of the caretakers of the world. So he can only be sneaky about his scheme.

This means that his threat to eat the entire desert is actually a bluff. But his threat to eat a fourth city and ten more cities after that is very real.

The will of the world doesn’t know which one is a bluff, though. After hearing his threats, it hurried the nearest world guardian to him.

Actually, the will of the world didn’t need to hear his threats to take him seriously. The will of the world world had already recognized the danger he posed to the world when he put away an entire city without so much as a belch or a bulge in his stomach.

That kind of eating capability has to be taken seriously, so the will of the world wanted to eliminate him as soon as possible. Unfortunately for the world, there were only four world guardians, and they were all busy hunting other rank 5 cultivators. The world couldn’t spare the manpower needed to hunt him, so he had been allowed to roam free, eating cities as if they were cakes.

It was only recently that a world guardian became somewhat free. The world guardian was only partially free, but the will of the world urged them to deal with Loki as soon as possible.

This particular world guardian is one of the most difficult world guardians to kill. So even though Loki had strange capabilities, the will of the world was sure that the world guardian would be able to deal with him, or at least stall him until another nearly unkillable world guardian shows up.

Loki was in the middle of eating the fourth city when the world guardian showed up. He sensed the energy fluctuations even before the world guardian arrived, so he stopped what he was doing to look in the direction of the new guest.

What he sensed brought a radiant smile to his face. His face couldn’t be seen because of his helmet, though. So no one knew that he was happy that a world guardian had come after him.

Since the target he was after had arrived, he decided not to play with the wind people anymore. So he said to the sandstorm that was battering him in an attempt to tear him apart, “Play time’s over.”

As he said this, he waved his hand and released red lightning into the surroundings. He didn’t spend time concentrating energy to make the attack more powerful, but the hastily made red lightning still spread into the surroundings, killing everything it touched.

The world guardian in the distance sensed that he was killing people and hissed in anger. Its hiss of anger turned the clouds in the sky into clouds of fire. The sight was imposing.

Loki saw this and said, “How cute. How adorable. You’re so cute that I could just eat you up.”

He was joking, but he was also serious. As it is, only time will tell how serious he was.

But for now, it was certain that the world guardian didn’t appreciate his joke. His joke only angered it, so it made the cloud of fire fall down as a rain of lava.

The world guardian didn’t even wait to see the result of that attack. It also created large balls of fire that were bigger than houses and threw them at Loki.

Even that second attack wasn’t enough to vent its anger. It wanted Loki to disappear immediately and at all costs, so it fell to the ground, turned into lava, and spread into the surroundings.

Its actions turned the whole area into a lake of fire. Then it made spears of fire to shoot up from the lake of fire into the air where Loki was flying.

This way, both heaven and earth had been turned against Loki. The fire god had learned its lesson and was going all out to secure all of Loki’s escape route.

Now that it had done all of these, all it needed to do was wait and see how the invader would die. So its lava eyes were wide open as it saw a black blanket appear around Loki and swallow every attack that came near Loki.

This sight was incomprehensible to the fire god. Its lava eyes widened in shock, and its brain stalled trying to parse what had happened.
