This Journey To The West Is So Terrifying Chapter 99

His words did remind Lin Fang that he indeed should build a residence here, which would be convenient for these little ones to practice cultivation in the future.
So he smiled and said, “Good, this glorious and arduous task is now assigned to you.”
The Bashan Tiger puffed out his chest proudly, yet Yi Hailong’s words were like a bucket of cold water poured over his head.
“You’re going to build with what, your head? There’s not even a single tree in sight here, what will you use to build? Besides, your small frame probably won’t be able to construct a single room even in a few decades.”
The Bashan Tiger immediately jumped out and said, “Are you looking down on me? What’s wrong with my build, so burly as it is?”
He patted his chest, producing a thumping sound, but his short stature was indeed a bit out of sync with his powerful presence, making it a less-than-perfect match.
Yi Hailong did not bother with this guy, but his contemptuous gaze said it all, which made the Bashan Tiger fly into a rage, and the two little monsters began to frolic on this newly born land.
Lin Fang revealed himself in the outside world, and it was already nighttime. The sky was clear, the moon shone bright and stars were sparse, and at this moment, the forest seemed to regain its usual tranquility.
With the cultivators’ clamor gone, the animals reclaimed their territory, and a symphony of nature played out with various insect sounds emerging one after another in the forest.
Countless fireflies fluttered with the wind, their emerald light twinkling in the dark forest, creating a different kind of beauty that was refreshingly delightful.
Lin Fang quietly appreciated this scene of beauty. Heaven and Earth often inadvertently reveal their unique allure, a pleasure only found away from the crowd, away from the bustling noise.
However, unwelcome guests always appear, breaking this rare peace. A squad of Buddhist Soldiers, escorting two people, arrived in this now silent forest.
Looking at the lake that had lost its ancient relics, Dharma Protector Garlan showed a hint of regret and said, “We’re a step too late, seems like the Living Soil has already been claimed by someone else.”
Faming, however, softly chanted the name of Buddha and said, “This is also good. The owner of the relics harbored evil intentions, and it’s unknown how many innocent beings have died miserably. Buddha is compassionate.”
The truth was, he hadn’t come for the Living Soil at all, but had heard that someone had set up a vicious array here, deceiving countless innocents into dying tragically. Feeling compassion, he came here to exterminate demons and protect the Way. Now that he saw the relics had dissipated without leaving any danger behind, he actually felt relieved.
Compared to his detachment, Garlan felt as uncomfortable as if he had swallowed a fly. He had been unsuccessful this time, vowing to bring the monster to justice, but had not yet found its whereabouts. He had intended to find the Living Soil hidden here as a way to redeem himself, but unfortunately, he was still one step too late.
“Everything is like a dream, an illusion, Garlan, why be annoyed by the Living Soil? Do not harbor greed,” said Faming, noticing Garlan’s impatience and speaking to comfort him.
On one hand, Garlan nodded in agreement, but in his heart, he was full of disdain, “You all only know how to glorify the Buddhist Sect, but are unaware that glorifying the Buddhist Sect isn’t something that can be done just by talking. Attracting believers, building temples, training monks, isn’t every single thing achieved through the pile-up of resources? These monks who only know ascetic cultivation really have broken brains. No wonder they were so thoroughly fooled by that monster.”
Just at that moment, someone spotted Lin Fang and shouted, “It’s him!”
Following the direction pointed out by the Buddhist Soldier, everyone immediately saw Lin Fang standing by the lake, admiring the scenery.
Gālan’s face revealed a look of surprised delight as he said, “Amitabha Buddha, it really must be the Buddha’s blessing that you came to us on your own accord.”
The annoyance of not having found the Living Soil was now pushed to the back of his mind; all dissatisfaction and losses would be made up for as long as Lin Fang was captured.
Seeing this, Lin Fang let out a wry smile. Fate did seem to have a narrow road; after all his efforts to hide, he still ended up in their hands. However, he was not very fearful in his heart.
The Buddhist Soldiers swarmed forward, the golden Buddha’s Light shining through the forest, illuminating the area as though it were daytime.
These Buddhist Soldiers were fanatics, therefore, one by one, they feared neither life nor death. Their minds were filled with devotion to the Buddhist sect; their bodies, having undergone the transformation of the Merit-Virtue Pond, had long become human-shaped weapons.
Looking at the incessant waves of Buddhist Soldiers, Lin Fang’s face showed a trace of impatience. Here again were these things, neither human nor ghostly, most annoying like those Daoist Soldiers.
To kill them, only to have them resurrect in the Merit-Virtue Pond, was like an endless supply of troops; entangling with them would only lead to being worn to death.
However, the Glazed Pagoda, having evolved, now had a method to deal with these fellows. Lin Fang held the Glazed Glass Tower in his hand, and with a thought, a terrifying suction swept away the surrounding Buddhist Soldiers, hurling them all into the bottom space of the tower.
He did not entangle with Faming and Gālan but turned and fled. After all, the force of the Buddhist Sect was immense; if he spent too much time, it was very likely that new skilled warriors of the Sect would come to aid. By then, even if he wanted to, he wouldn’t be able to escape.
“Monster, don’t even think about escaping!” Gālan shouted loudly. He was not about to watch such great credit slip away from him, and opened with a major move.
He transformed into a gigantic Vajra, glaring angrily, and threw a punch at Lin Fang.
The White Ape, sitting cross-legged on the second floor of the Glazed Pagoda, suddenly opened its eyes. Raising the Treasured Sword in his hand, a sharp Sword Qi that had been accumulated for a long time surged out, passing through the Pagoda with endless sword light, and slashing onto the Vajra’s enormous fist.
A deafening boom echoed through the sky, the Sword Qi striking the Vajra’s fist and emitting a dazzling light. The two forces contended briefly in the air before the sharp Sword Qi broke through the Vajra’s defense.
A pained howl was heard as a massive wound appeared on the hand of the Vajra, blood gushing out from the wound. The intense pain made Gālan unable to maintain his transformation, and he reverted to his original form.
A trace of fear crept into his eyes; he recognized the feeling within the sword light before him, knowing it likely came from the White Ape associated with Lin Fang.
However, when Gālan had last fought the White Ape, he had also experienced its Sword Qi, which was nothing like it is now—much too powerful—and he keenly sensed a mysterious power entwined within the Sword Qi that made it impossible for him to evade, as if it were the power of karma.
In the few days that had passed, such an earth-shattering transformation had occurred. Protector Gālan scrutinized Lin Fang’s figure carefully, wanting to firmly impress it in his mind; he had a premonition that this man would sooner or later become a thorny presence for Mount Ling.
“Are you alright?” Faming asked with concern.
“No big issue; this Sword Qi is a bit troublesome but won’t affect the ensuing battle,” Gālan gritted out through his teeth.
