The Broken Halo Chapter 93

Chapter 93: An Alpha

Simon was extremely stunned the moment he heard the words of the Thorgan.

’A Royal Bloodline?’

’An orphan having a Royal bloodline?’

When it came to bloodlines, one might think that the difference between a Minor Royal Bloodline and a Supreme Noble Bloodline was just a single grade or level, but the difference was far more than that.

It was like comparing a Noble Bloodline to a Lesser Bloodline.

Only those with a Royal Bloodline could become Demon Kings, and with every advancement a demon made with their Demon Hearts, the difference between those with Royal blood and those with lower blood would become more and more obvious.

’If he’s not lying, then he can definitely battle a Dread Beast as a Supreme Fiend… Especially with Bloodline Suppression.’

Simon’s eyes flickered as he stared at Thorgan.

“You have a royal bloodline?”

Thorgan nodded with a calm expression, then Simon tilted his head slightly.

“Then why are you so weak?”

Thorgan’s lips twitched repeatedly, and the urge to strangle Simon could be seen in his eyes.

“I’m not weak. My demonic energy reserves were low because of those bastards, and I was poisoned too. Basically, I wasn’t at my best.”

“And basically, you’re still weak.” Simon said indifferently, and a vein popped off in Thorgan’s forehead.

“You’ll regret your words once I’m back to full health.” Thorgan said, and the corner of Simon’s lips curled up.

“I doubt that very much.”

He looked in the direction Thorgan pointed, then he began walking in the direction once again.

“You crazy bastard. Are you actually going to there where you might have over ten enemies and a Dread Beast?” Thorgan asked once with a baffled expression.

“As you can see. That’s where I’m going. See you later.” Simon indifferently replied with a wave of his hand.

Thorgan stared at Simon for a few seconds before he grunted and stood.

“Hold up. Wait for me.”

Simon paused and looked at Thorgan with a raised brow.

“What are you doing?”

“What does it look like? I’m following you.” Thorgan replied while walking toward Simon with a slight groan.

“Damn that Irkalla and his poison.” He mumbled underneath his breath as he felt the sting of his injury on his back.

Simon heard this, and he looked at Thorgan who was shorter than him by half a foot.

“Why are you following me? And what do you think you can do in your current condition?”

Thorgan stood beside Simon, then he looked straight into his eyes.

“You didn’t believe me when I said I was strong. I can show you by the time we get there.”

Simon shook his head. “No, you can’t. I doubt you’d be able to recover enough of your strength by the time I get there. And if you can’t protect yourself, I won’t protect you.”

Thorgan raised a brow in confusion. “By the time you get there? I recover very quickly. It’s one of the perks of having a Royal Bloodline.”

Simon smiled slightly as Thorgan indirectly bragged about his Royal Bloodline.

’See this kid. He acts humble, but he’s inwardly proud.’

Simon shook his head slightly with a light smile. “Anyway, keep up if you can. I’m not slowing down or waiting for you.”

“What do you mean? How fast can you possibly-“

Bang!

The ground shattered as Simon dashed into the distance, and his speed stunned Thorgan.

Thorgan was not stunned because Simon’s speed was much faster than his, he was stunned because Simon was too fast for a Superior Lesser Demon.

“That’s not the speed of a Lesser Demon. He’s almost as fast as my normal speed… Who in the world is he?”

Thorgan did not panic even when Simon’s figure was as tiny as a dot in his eyes.

“I now see why he said I won’t be able to recover enough. Well… he underestimates the power of my bloodline.”

Thorgan’s body began to slowly sink into the floor.

No

Into his shadow.

“Let’s surprise him shall we?”

These were his last words before he completely sank into his shadow which then fused with the darkness of the land.

Meanwhile, Simon kept on running without bothering about Thorgan.

His gaze was constantly scanning his surroundings for signs of battle or signs of the Irkalla or any demon, not on Thorgan who for some reason remained in one spot.

A part of him was curious why Thorgan did not try to run, but when he thought about his injury, he was no longer so curious.

’Probably decided to let his injuries heal first. A wise choice considering how foolish it would be if you enter a battle injured and out of demonic energy.’

“Hmm?”

As Simon had this thought, he suddenly noticed something and he jumped to the branch of a nearby tree.

The sound of battles and roars drifted into his ears, and his eyes glowed dark silver as he used his demonic energy to strengthen his vision.

He saw a group of twenty candidates fighting a pack of wolves, and one in particular was thrice the size of the other wolves.

The wolf had three tails and an extremely dark skin that made it nearly indistinguishable from the darkness of the valley.

’An Alpha Three-Tailed Shadow Wolf.’

Simon narrowed his eyes as he watched the battle unfold, then he scanned the candidates for the Irkalla.

’Found you.’His eyes glinted with sharpness and gaze of a predator.

Although he was not lucky to find the Odrasil in the group, he would use the Irkalla or any of the other enslaved candidates to find the Odrasil.

’Now, I just have to find a way to either kidnap him without the others knowing or kidnap with the others knowing but still find a way to escape… or find a way to just kill everybody.’

’Though that would be difficult with the presence of the Dread Beast.’

“Wow. There are even more beasts now. Was the Three-Tailed Shadow Wolf an alpha?”

‘How cliché. I’ve read countless novels where the Hero is betrayed by their companions… but was I wrong to trust those who fought beside me for nearly six decades?’ ----- Betrayal. A word many live in fear of. A word some never expect… until it happens. A word that completely shatters one’s view of life. Just like any other heroic tale, Simon was the Hero of Earth, the one who defeated the Demon King and was about to end the war between races with his companions. Yet, in the end, he was betrayed by his own companions for reasons he never understood. Instead of finding death, Simon found rebirth. To his horror, he reincarnated as the very race he had devoted his entire life to exterminating… a race he despised, feared, and was disgusted by. Reborn as a demon infant within one of the most impoverished demon tribes, Simon found himself at the very bottom of a world he once sought to destroy. Fortunately, he was not entirely abandoned. His unique Seven Star Blessing, bestowed by his patron God, followed him through reincarnation. Armed with this Blessing and the Demonic Magic of his new race, Simon now harbors an ambition greater than ever before… to rise higher than he ever did as the Hero of Earth. To become a God. But the path forward is far from simple. Betrayals from those he would never expect. Endless trials and tribulations. And the lingering question of identity… Should he cling to his past as a human hero, or embrace his nature as a demon to survive? Can Simon abandon his hatred and live among demons? Will he erase his past entirely and fully embrace his demonic nature? Will his thirst for revenge drag him deeper into darkness… Or will he rise above it? In the end… Will he be devoured… or will he devour all?
