Nobody spoke, and nobody understood what they were seeing except for Sunless whose eyes flashed with a suspicious light.

Everybody’s instincts screamed at them that something was wrong with Simon.

Very wrong

The Chaos Wraps suddenly moved.

The Chaos Wrap around Simon’s healing arm slithered around it like living serpents. The black wraps tightened around his flesh before rapidly spreading higher and reaching his shoulder.

Previously, the Chaos Wraps only stopped at Simon’s elbows, but now they reached all the way to his shoulders.

They became darker, and seemed more complete and refined.

It was almost as though they had awakened. Or perhaps… they were recognizing someone.

Simon’s severed arm that was pinned to the tree suddenly trembled, and in the next moment, the arm exploded into countless strands of flesh and blood before flying toward Simon.

The flesh attached itself to Simon’s missing arm, the bones connected to one another, the muscles intertwined, and his skin regenerated.

The entire process last only a few breaths, causing the eyes of many to widen in disbelief.

UnholyRegeneration and Lilith’s influence worked together to restore the missing limb.

A terrifying silence descended upon the forest, then Simon slowly raised his head.

No…

Not Simon… Lilith.

Her golden draconic eyes swept across the surroundings.

It was a simple glance. Nothing more.

Yet, every demon present felt their bodies stiffen.

The three Grave Lords narrowed their eyes and unconsciously changed their stances very slightly.

The vast shadow behind Sunless stirred slightly.

Even it seemed wary.

Lilith looked around slowly.

Her gaze moved across the trees, across the mountains, and across the sky. Almost as though she was seeing the world again after a very long time.

The sensation and sight of a physical body was much different compared to a soul body.

Lilith softly exhaled, but this simple action caused the surrounding wind to become chaotic.

Leaves rustled violently, branches bent, and the atmosphere trembled.

A faint smile appeared on her lips. It was neither warm nor cold, just simply indifferent.

“Not bad.”

The moment those words left her mouth, every demon present felt an inexplicable chill runs down their spines.

The voice was Simon’s, yet it was not Simon’s.

There was a strange elegance hidden within every word. It was an ancient nobility, a superiority that seemed carved into the soul itself.

They all felt smaller… unworthy.

Lilith slowly lowered her gaze and looked directly at Sunless. The smile on her face widened slightly.

“Interesting.”

Her golden eyes shifted toward the immense shadow looming behind Sunless.

For the first time since her appearance, genuine interest appeared in her eyes.

“Oh?”

The vast shadow suddenly trembled, then Lilith’s smile widened.

“So you’re the little Shadow Walker.”

Sunless’ gaze instantly sharpened beneath her mask, and the massive shadow behind her connected with the soles of her feet.

The moment this happened, Sunless’ aura began to rise.

“And you’re the demon Blackmoon was always talking to.”

Lilith calmly tilted her head while opening her right hand.

The Chaos Blade appeared in her hand.

“You know me?”

Sunless glanced at the Chaos Blade, then she looked back at Lilith.

“This is my domain. I see everything, and I’ve seen Blackmoon talk to himself several times. I suspected that he was talking to somebody, turns out it was another bitch.”

Lilith raised an amused brow, and though she wanted to speak, she chose not to because of Simon’s body.

Even with UnholyRegeneration, his body was slowly breaking apart.

The longer she delayed, the more stress his body would be put under.

She took a step forward, then she vanished under the gaze of Sonya, Akaza, and Merath, and Jorra.

Sunless’ pupils constricted into pinholes when she saw Lilith in front of her with her right hand raised.

The utter indifference in Lilith’s eyes was reflected in Lilith’s eyes, and before Sunless’ could react, Lilith swung down the Chaos Blade.

However…

CLANG!

BOOM!

A massive and powerful shockwave shook the entire Blackwind Valley, and trees, rocks, and beasts were flung away by the shockwave.

The screams of Akaza, Sonya, Merath, and Jorra echoed across the valley as they were also thrown away by the shockwave.

The ground where Lilith stood had deep and wide cracks.

“Hmm?”

Lilith tilted her head slightly as she hummed.

A thick dust cloud was around her, but her golden eyes could see through the cloud like they didn’t exist.

In front of her were two Grave Lords… True Night and Black Midnight.

They had used their weapons to block the Chaos Blade from killing Sunless.

Lilith looked behind them, and she saw Sunless who was being held and protected by the last Grave Lord… First Dusk.

Lilith’s lips curled up slightly, and a second later, a thin and straight line appeared on Sunless’ mask.

Crack

The soft and tiny sound drew the attention of all the Grave Lords, and when they all looked at Sunless, their eyes widened slightly.

Sunless’ mask fell from her face, and for the first time, her face was revealed.

Many Initiates believed that Sunless was stunning and extremely beautiful, and they were not wrong.

Sunless was beautiful, however, she was not perfect like Lilith or remotely close to Merath’s beauty.

On her face were several black tattoos that looked like runes.

Her eyes were black. They lacked pupils. They were just completely black.

As she stared at the two pieces of her fallen mask with slightly opened mouth, her black teeth was shown to the world.

Lilith chuckled softly.

“It was a little bit annoying not being able to see your face. At least, you’re not ugly.”

Sunless looked at Lilith with a frown, but in the next moment, her eyes could not help but widen.

Lilith’s hand moved, and in the next moment, Black Midnight’s head flew and blood gushed out of his severed neck.

True Night had a shaken expression when he saw this, then his instincts screamed and he quickly placed his dagger to the side.

CLANG!

‘How cliché. I’ve read countless novels where the Hero is betrayed by their companions… but was I wrong to trust those who fought beside me for nearly six decades?’ ----- Betrayal. A word many live in fear of. A word some never expect… until it happens. A word that completely shatters one’s view of life. Just like any other heroic tale, Simon was the Hero of Earth, the one who defeated the Demon King and was about to end the war between races with his companions. Yet, in the end, he was betrayed by his own companions for reasons he never understood. Instead of finding death, Simon found rebirth. To his horror, he reincarnated as the very race he had devoted his entire life to exterminating… a race he despised, feared, and was disgusted by. Reborn as a demon infant within one of the most impoverished demon tribes, Simon found himself at the very bottom of a world he once sought to destroy. Fortunately, he was not entirely abandoned. His unique Seven Star Blessing, bestowed by his patron God, followed him through reincarnation. Armed with this Blessing and the Demonic Magic of his new race, Simon now harbors an ambition greater than ever before… to rise higher than he ever did as the Hero of Earth. To become a God. But the path forward is far from simple. Betrayals from those he would never expect. Endless trials and tribulations. And the lingering question of identity… Should he cling to his past as a human hero, or embrace his nature as a demon to survive? Can Simon abandon his hatred and live among demons? Will he erase his past entirely and fully embrace his demonic nature? Will his thirst for revenge drag him deeper into darkness… Or will he rise above it? In the end… Will he be devoured… or will he devour all?
