“You look as beautiful as the moon tonight, dear Queen.”

“O-oh my.”

Hearing Leon greet her before the King, the guards and the knights surrounding him instantly tensed up.

All of their eyes darted straight toward the King. They wanted to see exactly what kind of face he was making right now.

And to everyone’s surprise, he had his mouth flapped wide open.

Just like the last time, when Leon had been in the castle and completely ignored the King, only greeting the two princesses and the Queen alone.

He did the exact same thing this time too.

At this point, everyone in the vicinity had already understood that Leon was holding some kind of grudge against the King.

“That is far too bold. So this is what it feels like to be the brother of a Tower Head?”

“I know right. The King cannot do anything against him even if he wanted to.”

The murmurs of the nobles watching the scene unfold reached both the King’s and Leon’s ears.

Leon ignored the stares, and murmured and bowed one last time in front of the queen and returned back to walking beside his sister.

To Leon this move was simply an Art of Making Enemies.

Eula pinched the bridge of her nose seeing the way he was acting.

To someone else’s eye he might seem cocky, but Eula’s it looks like a pre-calculative move.

’Exactly what is he up to..?’ She thought. ’

Bedside Eula, Rinna poked her shoulder.

“Sister, did father really invite him?”

“You think he would after what he did?” Eula replied, to which Rinna shook her head.

“Then… did you?” She asked her in a rather lower tone.

Eula looked at her little sister.

“Correct, it was all me.”

“O-oh, I was right then.” Rinna scratched her cheeks, “you two have really gotten close huh?”

“Are we?”

“Yes, you two are! You see, a few of my classmates have found you two chatting all alone inside the library together. So what else was I even supposed to think?”

Rinna had been going on about this quite a lot ever since she returned to the castle this morning.

Eula always told her that there was nothing strange going on between her and Leon. But this girl… she just overthinks everything way too much.

“They are just being absurd. And besides, if you are so curious, then you should be far more curious about someone else instead.”

“Huh? What?”

Rinna blinked at her.

“Who would that even be?”

“Uh huh… so you are indeed curious.”

“Wha—I never said that! It is totally absurd!”

She stomped her foot lightly and turned around, puffing her cheeks.

Eula smiled at her pouty little face.

Rinna looked incredibly cute whenever she acted this way.

’How very cute.’

Eula would have pinched her cheeks right this instant, if only the two of them were alone right now.

But…

’Sorry, Rinna. But I think you might be a little too late for that one.’

She sighed inwardly as she recalled one of her shadows giving her a rather important update about Leon this very evening.

He, and one of the guests from Evana, Irene, were apparently in a relationship.

Eula had not believed it at first then the shadow had shown her the proof. The two of them holding hands, and even hugging quietly at a corner.

A small smile appeared on Eula’s face.

It was a smile, one that almost looked a little sullen.

’I suppose he does have a side to him that loves people after all.’

She had always imagined Leon to be the type who would never get too attached to anyone without a proper reason behind it.

She still did not know if his relationship with that girl was something pure, or just another one of his carefully laid strategies.

Eula would have to ask him about it herself later.

“You two, hurry up now. The guests have already started arriving.”

Their mother said, calling the both of them inside.

“Coming, mother!”

Rinna said, as she held Eula’s hand and pulled her along with her inside.

Walking inside, Leon looked around the grand royal hall.

If Leon had to measure it, then this place was about one fourth the size of a football ground.

And even after all that, the place had been completely filled with decorations, food platters, displays, exhibitions, and whatever else one could imagine.

It was everything a royal luxury could possibly afford.

Veronica took one of the wine glasses from a waiter passing by, quietly took a sip from it, and stood there in one place with Leon.

Her presence was dominating.

No matter how hard they all tried to ignore it, the silence and the stillness that fell the moment they stepped foot inside said it all. The gazes gave everything away.

Some nobles tried hard to approach her. But they just could not bring themselves to take even a single step toward her to make conversation.

And how could they?

Veronica had built this side of herself, brick by brick.

Leon also saw another waiter passing by, holding the same wine Veronica was drinking. So he tried to take one for himself.

Smack!

Veronica snatched his hand away before it could even touch the glass.

“Huh?”

Leon did not understand why she did that.

“No drinking for you.”

“What the? But why? I am of the age where everyone drinks.”

Seriously, in this world it was completely common to drink after you turned seventeen.

“No means no.”

She said, glaring at him.

“…Just one glass?”

“Not even half.”

“Tch. What happened to you today?”

As the two of them were arguing, Leon heard a rather loud voice call out to him.

“Leon!”

He turned around and saw Alice, wearing a red flowing dress and white gloves, approaching him.

Beside her was Ayaka, and another girl who looked almost exactly like her.

’So this is Tia…’

Alice stopped in front of Leon, and then she noticed his sister standing beside him.

“Huh? Oh, Sister Veronica? You are here too?”

Alice lifted both sides of her skirt and greeted her properly.

’Sister…?’

Leon’s eyes twitched, hearing her call ’his’ sister by that title so casually.

“Alice, it is good to see you.”

Veronica greeted her back.

“I was really missing you these past three days. You did not even come to visit me once.”

’The heck…?’

Leon was not getting a single thing about what the two of them were chatting about.

Did Alice keep in contact with his sister while he was away?

From the way they were discussing, it did sound like it.

Before he even asked, Ayaka stepped forward with her daughter and politely greeted both Veronica and then Leon.

Her greeting toward Leon felt a bit strange, but Leon didn’t question it.

Leon noticed that from the way Veronica was chatting with Ayaka, it looked like it was not their first time talking.

Some of Veronica’s questions were about her progress with her company.

As they were busy, Alice lightly smacked his shoulder.

“What?” Leon narrowed his eyes on her.

Alice leaned in a bit and whispered into his ear.

“You know, Irene is here as well.”

“Uh, yeah?” He didn’t understand what she meant by that.

Of course she would be here, after all she was among the special guests for whom this grand banquet was even held.

“No no, Leon, what I mean was, will the two of you act like you don’t know each other?”

’Ah… that’s what’s worrying her.’

Well, Leon had told Alice this evening that it would create a diplomatic problem, so her asking him if they would hide their relationship was a valid question.

Leon had actually thought about that. At first, he thought hiding it would be better, and that Irene would understand the reason too.

But then again, after thinking for some time, he understood that revealing it would be a greater benefit for Leon.

And again, Leon actually didn’t really care about diplomatic problems or whatever, and didn’t actually get bothered by what people talked about behind his back.

A girl as majestic as Irene was never meant to be hidden. Leon would rather stand proudly beside her than pretend she wasn’t there.
