Sss Awakening I Can Class Change At Will Chapter 682
Theo’s plan[ … words ]
[ … words ]
The moment Moon stepped through the trapdoor and started going down, he lost connection with Theo.
The ice of the spire or the depth of the descent, something cut his communication device off completely.
Theo’s warnings could no longer reach him. The channel that should have carried the alarm of the white commander’s approach went dead, and Moon had no way of knowing it.
He was moving deeper into the earth, deaf to the danger racing toward him from the north.
“I need to be quick,” Moon muttered, unaware of just how quick he actually needed to be.
The passage was pitch dark, the ghostly glow of the upper chamber swallowed the moment he descended.
He rushed down the staircase, a lighting rune crackling in his palm to light the way.
The stairs ran deep. Moon ran them at speed, and it still took nearly ten seconds of hard descent before the passage finally opened at the bottom into a massive chamber.
Hundreds of shiny white crystals filled the chamber floor, creating a horde of wealth glittering.
Many of them were infused with the ice element. Moon’s eyes sparkled as he spotted them.
He had found a treasury filled with elemental beast crystals, each worth a fortune of at least eight million dollars. and some could even reach ten million apiece, at the ice-element grades he was seeing.
Moon ran a quick estimate, if he took all of it, this single haul would run into the hundreds of millions.
Moon didn’t hesitate.
He opened his storage ring and swept through the chamber, storing every core, clearing the piles, leaving nothing behind.
Dozens of crystals vanished into his ring in moments, and with every crystal that disappeared, his fortune climbed higher.
Then, as the last of the crystals came off the far shelf, his eyes landed on the center of the room, on a raised dais he’d overlooked in the rush of the haul, and on the thing resting atop it.
Moon went still.
“Wait. This is…”
In the center of the dais, resting beneath a shimmering canopy of frost was a perfect crimson red heart.
The frost around it appeared to cradle the heart, feeding it the way a womb nurtured and protected a fragile fetus.
The heart caught Moon’s attention immediately, pulling his eyes away from the cores.
He crossed to the dais and activated Eye of Truth, curious by what information he would find.
[Heart of a True Elf]
[Details: The preserved heart of a true elf, one of the great bloodline races of the Second Sanctuary. Radiates a dense, refined life essence that gradually strengthens and elevates whatever draws upon it. When absorbed, it accelerates development, refines bloodline, and can raise the ceiling of what the recipient is capable of becoming. Its benefits are greatest during the host’s early life.]
Moon read it twice, and his mind went immediately to one thing.
The Supreme Rank turtle egg. The one that had been slowly incubating inside his beast taming space for weeks now, unhatched, developing at its own pace.
It had shown progress when he had bathed it inside the blood of the golden fish, but since then, it hadn’t hatched yet.
A heart that elevated the ceiling of an organism, refined bloodline and accelerated development, fed to his yet-to-be born turtle was certainly going to help in its hatching.
“Heart of a true elf,” he muttered, turning the reading over in his head. “I need to ask Tom about this. But rare doesn’t begin to cover it.”
He didn’t fully understand everything the heart could do and knowing if there was ways it could be refined for better absorption was a question for Tom’s network, for the Association’s archives, for someone who had the reference material to tell him exactly what he’d found.
But he understood enough to know it was one of the most valuable things he’d ever laid hands on, and that it might be exactly what his growing Supreme egg needed to finally hatch or grow even closer to hatching.
Without hesitation, he reached out and lifted the heart from its frost cradle, storing it in his ring alongside the fortune in crystals.
He did a quick final sweep of the chamber, Eye of Truth scanning for any last compartment, any overlooked treasure.
Unfortunately, nothing of value remained to be taken. He’d stripped the place clean.
“Time to leave,” he muttered, turning back toward the staircase. “Before that elf gets home.”
He started up the steps, fast, the lighting rune paving his way.
Above ground, Theo pressed himself flat against the rise, watching the white commander come in fast, its beast skidding to a halt at the base of the spire, and the lesser elf was off its mount before the creature fully stopped.
Its pale eyes went straight to the shattered gate, the broken ice scattered across the entrance, and its whole body went rigid.
~Shriek~
A sound of absolute fury rushed out of its throat.
Theo’s body shuddered from the sound, his heart rising to his throat.
Then, the southern commander drew both blades as he rushed towards the entrance.
Far away, its horde was rushing at the fastest speed.
Despite the fear rushing through his veins, Theo’s mind was occupied by the encounter between Moon and the commander.
Moon had yet to respond to any of his calls, and he was without a doubt still inside the spire.
The commander would be on him in seconds, and Moon wouldn’t see it coming.
Theo didn’t dare fight the lesser elf, the commander would maul him apart in a fight, and dying here helped no one.
But staying hidden while Moon walked blind into an ambush wasn’t an option he could proceed with either.
He needed to do something that bought Moon as much time as possible without throwing his life away.
His eyes fell on the spare explosive rune Moon had handed him on their way to the spire, the one meant as a backup in case things went wrong.
