The Hunted Regressor: My Heretic Saint System Chapter 7

Chapter 7: To Hug A Thigh

’Now then…’

Ignotus, now outside the main building, stretched his arms, hearing a few satisfying pops in his shoulders.

’First things first, my poisoning.’

It was time for him to start getting things done.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t touch Acer.

The little rooster alone was trouble; there was no way Ignotus could win against him, even with his much greater battle experience. And to make things worse, he was constantly surrounded by the main family’s guards.

Ignotus’s current body—with its measly strength—wasn’t exactly ready to besiege a fortress.

Revenge was a dish best served… well, whenever he had the ability for it.

But it wasn’t a lost cause.

There were other pests he could take care of; much, much smaller pests.

The rat in the kitchen, who thought poisoning his food was acceptable.

’If I can’t break him, I’ll break those in his pocket.’

Ignotus turned a corner, heading toward the servant quarters and the kitchens.

Here, the hallways were noticeably less ornate, the gold trim replaced by practical stone and wood. It was quieter too, perfect for a little terror.

But before he could reach the heavy oak doors leading to the service wing, a figure stepped out from one of the side rooms, blocking his path.

It was a butler. Lanky, green-eyed, and brown-haired, with a face that looked like it had been sucking on lemons for the better part of a decade.

He wore the crisp uniform of the House, but his posture was all wrong, way too arrogant and comfortable.

“What are you doing here, Young Lord~?”

He sneered, not bothering to bow.

“Are you perhaps thinking of visiting the kitchens? I’m afraid scraps aren’t served until dusk.”

Ignotus stopped and tilted his head, staring at the man.

His face was vaguely familiar in the way a rock on the side of the road was familiar.

He knew that he had seen it somewhere, sometime before, but he didn’t care for it.

Ignotus continued to stare for a solid ten seconds before he slowly asked:

“How well do I know you?”

The butler’s smirk twitched.

He looked almost offended, his chest puffing out.

“I heard you awakened your Luck Rune today. Did that mess with your head? Or did the shock of being a failure finally make you snap?”

Ignotus kept staring.

He really didn’t know who this was.

Was this guy his bully? A childhood tormentor? In his past life, he had ascended to incredible heights, fought through wars that rocked the realm, and kept certain death at bay… for a long while at least.

Remembering the name of a servant who brought him cold tea tens of years ago wasn’t exactly high on his priority list.

“Hm… really.”

Ignotus rubbed his chin, genuinely trying to recall.

“What was your name again? Was it Bob? No, you don’t look like you have a name… more like a… Spoon. Hm, yes, you’re a Spoonhead, so your name is Spoon.”

The butler’s face turned a brilliant shade of red.

“What? You—”

“Spoon sounds right. You even have the emotional depth of one.”

“You—Bastard!”

The butler snapped. Years of looking down on the ’useless’ brother had made him bold.

He stepped forward, winding up a punch that was telegraphed so clearly that Ignotus could have written a letter, mailed it, and received a reply before the fist arrived.

Still, Ignotus didn’t bother to raise his hands from his back. He simply stepped inside Spoon’s guard, twisted his hips, and drove his right knee straight into his… endowment.

“GAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!”

His untouched jewels had all but popped.

The hit was too direct that even Ignotus felt affected.

“Ghhhk!”

The butler, now choking on his own spit, had his eyes rolled back from the pain. His legs turned to jelly as he crumbled to the floor while desperately clutching his privates.

Bastard was still conscious.

Ignotus looked down, flexing his leg.

’Hm…’

He frowned slightly.

’Poison or not, was I really this weak?’

In his prime, that little tap would have vaporized the man’s lower body and half the hallway behind him. But now? It was just apoppedtesticle… disappointing.

“But what the Hell was he on about? Seriously…”

Ignotus muttered to himself and walked away.

“W-Wait!”

The butler, still wheezing, reached out a trembling hand toward Ignotus’s leg.

“Please… what do you want with them?”

Ignotus paused and looked back at the pathetic heap on the floor.

Most people would kick the man while he was down; he considered it, but then a better idea formed…

He needed a guide, didn’t he?

But when the hunt finally ended, the unhinged Stranger did the impossible: He traded his life to maim the realm's three absolute rulers, leaving scars that even the Gods couldn't heal. Infuriated by the humiliation, Hora, the Queen of Time, cast an ancient spell to reverse the clock and erase his final strike. ...But her arrogance became his salvation. Ignotus regressed to the day of his Ascension, the very day he received his first Rune. He was back to where he was known as the worst of lowlifes. A manufactured reputation designed to bully him into oblivion by his own flesh and blood. To the old Ignotus, it was the end of the world. To the current him? It was a joke he no longer had the patience to hear. This time, he wouldn't play by their rules.
