Death Leveling Chapter 35

Devil’s theatre[ … words ]

[ … words ]

Night time arrived, painstakingly slowly—my excitement was undying, which made the flow of time rather infuriating; I couldn’t contain myself from fantasizing about the golden guy.

I can’t leave just yet, though—I smirked thinking about Soyeon, she was also getting me quite hot and bothered.

“Mmmh…”

At this point, I didn’t need to focus as diligently as priorly—the raven had become a limb of mine, a sword I could wield without thinking.

“Now… wher…e…was it…a… again?” I slurred my words, certainly not because of all the saliva drooling out of my mouth.

Then, upon finding what I was looking for, I walked up to Soyeon’s tent and gently peered it open—went back to my bedroll afterwards, lied down, and closed my eyes with a perverse grin.

My vision warped…

The world stretched into something distant and rather surreal…

A fever dream, some could say…

Quite the bitter taste—tastebuds weren’t in the job description…

*Skreee!! Skreeeeeeeee!!*

“Mmm…”

*Skreeeeeeeekkk!!!!*

“AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!”

“W— wha— Soyeon?!” yelled Nemo at the top of his lungs; what a quick man he is, less than two seconds since that line and he’s already in her tent seeing what’s up.

I got up as well—I’m a friend, right?—a dear, caring and loving friend!!

Right as I got next to the tent, a raven flew out of it—void of laughter, I stared at Soyeon trembling with tears in her eyes.

“What— what is this?!” she silently screamed, with sobs mixed in her voice.

A human eye was on her bedroll.

“God… what is this? There’s just… no way,” stated Nemo in utter bewilderment; can’t hold this one against you, dear, even Ariel was speechless.

Though… this man… does he sleep with that mask or did he equip it that quickly?!

Afterwards, Ku peeked his head into the tent—shirtless and with eyes nearly shut—bet he’s in his underwear again, fucking pervert.

“What’s… going… on…” sleepily…

“Go back to sleep, Ku,” I said in mild annoyance.

“Nooooooo— okay,” immediately pulled his head back and left…

“..”

Maybe I am a good friend.

I didn’t shy away from showing concern—had to be done, “are you okay, Soyeon?”

I sat down on my legs, looking at her with a worried and troubled expression.

“D— Dante…” still in tears… what a fragile girl she is.

“Come here,” I opened my arms for her—couldn’t let her cry like this without some solace, seeing as Nemo is too bashful to offer any comfort.

She proceeded to hug me; my right eye instantly flinched, just a momentary moment of weakness.

With Soyeon in my arms, I was looking straight at Nemo—had to be slightly careful with my expression.

Nemo stood silently, then scratched his hair.

Then, as if remembering something obvious, he let out a quick, “oh,” pointed his hand towards the eye, and had it simply burn up in shadow flames.

“Hey… Dante… you’re…” she softly spoke as she pulled her head away from me.

Then abruptly, I moved my face next to her ear and gently whispered…

“Hush… be quiet.”

I could tell Nemo was curious, but I couldn’t let him know about my abnormal body—who knows what he’d do with this information—report me?—possibilities posed too many risks.

With a smile, I proceeded to move my hand next to her and brush away her tears.

“It’s going to be okay—you’re okay, don’t cry,” yet again I softly whispered, this time further away from her.

“I— I don’t think I can sleep alone after this,” she anxiously stated; Nemo immediately stumbled on his toes upon her words.

“Yooooooo!! WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON IN THAT TENT?!”

Ku…

Of course, I matched his energy and replied in equal volume, “JUST SLEEP, BUDDY, DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT!!”

“Hey, I don’t mean it in a weird way or anything,” she added, yet again with undying delicacy.

“We know, we know,” I voiced as I put my hand atop her head, giving the poor girl a gentle pat.

“Ah… I guess I’ll leave you two at it,” stated Nemo awkwardly as he began walking out of the tent—Leader’s decision?

After hastily returning to my tent and dragging the bedroll, we were alone, sleeping—we were apart, and obviously we weren’t going to go anywhere else—right?—I thought to myself, with mild indecisiveness.

Then suddenly, I felt her hand on my chest—I knew what she was doing immediately and without any misgiving.

“You really don’t have any heartbeat—how can that be?—and you’re so cold as well, like a corpse.”

I proceeded to roll on my left side—I was previously facing the tent rather than her.

“Can you keep this a secret?” I whispered, hopefully quietly enough for just the two of us to pick up.

She seemed quite baffled—expectedly.

“Then, will you explain it to me later?” this time, her voice was quite undoubtedly affectionate—is she opening up to me?—did all my teasing work, after all?

Not to rub my own wounds with salt, but I was slowly starting to feel like none of my attempts were reaching her—I was quite ready to give up and settle for something else.

Gently, tapped on her forehead and yet again, in whispers, “maybe—we’ll need to see how things go with us, you know?”

Immediately, the curiosity and worry got wiped away—a doting expression jumped onto her—did making it seem like we were building something, set the stage for her?—self-satisfaction, in a flash, began burning all over my body.

If I had the most heinous grin right now, would it make any difference?—or is she gone enough that she’d remain oblivious to the fiend next to her?

I do commend you, Soyeon, this little theatre I did with you… you made me forget goldie, even if briefly.

As she gradually fell deeper into sleep, my expression transformed… from a gentle smile…

…to a grin…

…and ultimately to a face filled with nothing but all-encompassing depravity.

I left.

My raven had left the guy in order to pull this little play, but I knew where he was—he’d been there for a while—and soon enough I’ll be there as well.
