Death Leveling Chapter 45

Petals of innocence[ … words ]

[ … words ]

The scarlet flower in my honor shed a tear.

A petal fell.

And so did the man glaring at me, in a pool of blood wept by his colleague and the retainers that were tasked to protect him.

His breath increased, now with terror and fear embracing his soul.

I took a step forward—and his breath further got messier.

Sharpened my palm—and he witnessed its sharpness in his throat without so much as my hands touching him yet.

He peeped behind him and mumbled, “he— help, s— someone!!”

Yet another step closer to him. His existence was my prey.

A man further away turned his back towards me, and attempted to mirror me by taking a step away from me.

Instantaneously, I was no longer in the presence of the man on the ground—I had disappeared without a trace.

I was next to the one that entertained the possibility of running.

“Hey there, darling, where do you think you’re going?” I whispered next to his ear—seductively as if he’s a woman I’m trying to entice.

My palm calmly grazed his throat—cutting it softly enough for just a tear of blood to drizzle.

Ah… their fear! Their terror! What is this…

I began grinning maniacally.

My face went on his neck—I could feel his sweat and dread, it’s so wonderful and innocent!!

He couldn’t muster a word, but his trembling was so tangible I could hear his teeth repeatedly chatter to me devotedly and diligently.

My eyes went to the sky as I let him go—he gradually started treading, step by step in shakes that irreversibly sullied the atmosphere.

Put my hands on my face.

“Ahhhh… what is this…”

I could feel it…

I can feel it so superbly…

Then, with my head still facing the blameless and unbothered sky, my eyes went towards the man loyally trying to get away from me.

My grin had vanished and emptiness embraced my expression.

“FU— AAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!” the man yelled as he put his hands over his eyes—blood began pouring out magnificently without a sign of stopping.

He dropped on his knees.

No one else would dare to run before, but now it was cemented as a rule for mercy.

I hadn’t moved from where I was—I cut him instantly, appearing as if stoned without so much as a sound other than the gushing noise of his blood.

Still with my head upwards, I walked up to him and kneeled down myself.

Another petal fell—beautifully.

“Uaaaahhh—”

I pierced him through the chest—my palm had his heart, a rotten yet innocent heart that gradually had its beats fade in my hand.

Immediately, still with my hand through his chest, I poured MANA into him—I wasn’t going to allow anything as unforgivable as death.

Pulled out my hand—tenderly moved it up and let his heart drop on the ground.

Glanced around and witnessed the hope of survival fade into obscurity.

Some of them began sobbing.

Others dropped on their knees and glared at the wonderful dirt beneath them.

Commenced a walk towards the one that led me to their camp.

No further blood was being shed just yet, and yet… the atmosphere dyed in stunning, crimson red color.

He wasn’t looking at me, but upon walking up to him, his eyes grazed mine—I had a soft, benevolent and kind smile one would show to their child.

“You want to live, don’t you?”

In trembles, he answered, “it’s— you would never let me live.”

“What’s wrong?—have you already accepted death?”

He confirmed my words by moving his head downwards, yet again gazing at the dirt that would mark his grave.

Put my hand on his chin—moved his head up and locked eyes with him.

“You don’t understand anything, do you?”

Whispers became my love language.

He didn’t reply—only death was on his mind.

Then softly, my hand went over his hair—touching him graciously and affectionately.

“I can read minds, you know?—your daughter, she’s turning 9, isn’t she?”

Suddenly, his acceptance of death began wavering—his breath yet again increased and started showing signs of terror.

Gently, I took his hand.

Had my fingers softly run over his rough, calloused and shaky palm.

Then I stuck my nail into his—and had his agony intensify.

Another crimson petal fell.

“Ah—”

“Shhh, be quiet,” yet again I whispered as I put my finger over his mouth. “You want your daughter to live, right?”

Shifted my finger onto his next nail…

“Don’t make any noises… for her.”

And the next one…

His hand was trembling even more than before. It was moving my heart—even more than the man whose heart I had ripped out!

“Be…”

Gently had my eyes relocate from his bloodied hand to his face.

“…quiet.”

Ripped off another nail.

Everyone stared; no one could muster a word.

He barely made any sounds… his hands no longer had any nails. They were pristine and basked in breathtaking red.

“Will— will…”

He let out in sobs of agony.

“Will you— will you let my daughter live?!”

Suddenly, I giggled.

“Certainly, you have the highest Intelligence Stat in Im City, don’t you?”

Began holding my hand in front of his face… and had it harden straight in his view.

Pierced him through the head—could feel his skull and brain over my hand.

With my left hand, started holding his head as I pulled out my arm.

“Ahhh… this is so magnificent!”

This time I let out… as I embraced my hands over my naked body.

“This is so, so, so beautiful!”

I smiled as my words echoed over the camp.

Skimmed over everyone.

Had their terror soak deeply into my soul; If I do still have that thing, that is.

The scarlet flower beautifully shed all its petals.

In my honor—and theirs.

A massacre had begun.

A scarlet massacre that didn’t allow any regular deaths to take place.

And then, as I was snacking on my meals, abruptly I felt a presence…

With my mouth filled with flesh, bloodied in a scenery unlike any before…

A pale man with strange MANA glared at me, empty-eyed without voicing anything.
