C43 – Ke Family
The eldest son’s daughter of the Ke family was the first to recognize Pei Yu. Having once been married to Ke Huayuan’s daughter, she retained some memory of him.

Ke Lianxi was taken aback. Encountering Pei Yu once more only reignited her displeasure, remembering how he had once hurt her brother, Ke Shuyi.

“Why are you even here?” Ke Lianxi scoffed at Pei Yu, her disdain as palpable as ever.
”Do I owe you an explanation?” Pei Yu replied, stopping in his tracks with a slight smile.
He surveyed the room, noting the presence of the entire Ke family. Given the Super Martial Club’s strict invitation criteria, they shouldn’t have made the cut.
His eyes then landed on the distinguished-looking young man beside Ke Lianxi, and he quickly put two and two together.
“Pei Yu, you have no business being at this event. How did you manage to sneak in?” Ke Lianxi challenged him with a haughty tone.

Aside from Ke Lianxi, the rest of the Ke family sneered at Pei Yu, with Fei Ning, Ke Lianxi’s mother, being the most vociferous in her contempt.
She utterly despised Pei Yu.
“I have no interest in chasing after your daughter,” Pei Yu retorted with a chuckle.
“What did you say?”
Hearing Pei Yu’s veiled taunt, Ke Lianxi’s fiancé lost his composure. He glared at Pei Yu and snapped, “You’re not even fit to lick Ke Lianxi’s boots, and yet you have the nerve to make such bold claims?”
“Lick her boots if that’s what you enjoy,” Pei Yu quipped, his laughter betraying no anger.
Young Master Yan seethed with rage.
“Pei Yu, we’ve yet to settle the matter of you injuring Shuyi. If you don’t provide the Ke family with a satisfactory explanation tonight, don’t expect to leave unscathed.”
Old Master Ke was livid, pounding the table in fury. Pei Yu had the audacity to oppose the Ke family, and even more brazenly, to challenge the man destined to be their future son-in-law. He must have a death wish.
“After the evening’s festivities conclude, I’ll make sure you get the explanation you deserve.”
Pei Yu couldn’t help but smile. He had no initial desire to squabble with the Ke family, but if they were going to be foolhardy, he wasn’t to blame for what came next.
“Pei Yu, I want to see what makes you think you can stand up to the Ke family,” Old Master Ke demanded, his confidence bolstered by the presence of Young Master Yan.
The Yan family held a respectable position as a middle-tier family in N City, commanding a certain level of deference from many influential figures.
Pei Yu was no match for Young Master Yan.
During the party, they wouldn’t dare to trouble Pei Yu—not on the Super Martial Club’s home turf. They wouldn’t dare lay a finger on him there.
But outside the martial club’s walls, the story would be different.
Disregarding the Ke family members, Pei Yu strode off.
