I Use Illusions To Control The Whole World Chapter 25
Entering
Just as I expected, the Dream World pulls people in through dreams. As long as I link my Dream World with that of a Nightmare Apostle, I’ll be dragged into it as well! Su Mu’s eyes gleamed, and at some point, a layer of eerie blood-red had appeared over his pupils.
In that case, I can use the same method to bring the others in with me.
Su Mu controlled his own Dream World and connected it to the dreams of Zhao Chaoyao and the others. Once all the dreams were linked together, it was as if he had built a channel for the blood-red mist to spread. It expanded without limit, eventually dyeing all the dreamscapes in crimson.
That blood-red hue resembled a massive web, wrapping around everyone’s dreams and leaving no place to escape. Once caught inside, it was as though one would be consumed by endless terror and despair.
And this was exactly what Su Mu wanted.
He sat on the supreme throne. The dark-gold robe embroidered with constellations had now been stained with blood. The sea of blood raged wildly and gradually submerged him.
His abdomen… chest… neck…
By now, only Su Mu’s head remained above the blood. A pale face wore a smile that barely contained its excitement.
With that, the blood sea swallowed him completely.
…
…
The village of Zhao was engulfed in a pitch-black night. The entire place looked deserted—no lights from the homes, no signs of life. Only a single two-story house emitted a faint glow of candlelight, making it strikingly visible in the darkness.
The thick darkness hung heavily over the house like a viscous shroud. Its mottled walls were covered in strange vines, and the rusted iron door creaked eerily in the wind, sounding like a tormented groan.
Inside the house, four men and one woman sat restlessly around the candle. They frequently turned to look toward the corners of the room where the candlelight couldn’t reach, as if something terrifying could crawl out from the darkness at any moment.
“It’s already dark. We stick to the original plan—go out and search for food and candles,” said a buzz-cut young man in his twenties. Though his expression was tense, he wasn’t nearly as afraid as the others.
“Brother Ye… are you sure we have to go out? What if there are Nightmare Creatures out there…” a middle-aged man asked, voice trembling slightly.
The man wore a faded work jacket and heavily worn rubber shoes. His skin was dark, and his back slightly hunched from years of manual labor.
Ye glanced at him coldly. “Then what do you suggest? We just sit here and starve to death? We’ve been stuck here for three days without eating a single bite. At this rate, we’ll die of hunger before the monsters even get to us. And don’t forget—we’re almost out of candles. You know what happens when the light runs out.”
The middle-aged man shrank back, intimidated, and didn’t dare say more. The rest fell into silence.
Ye stood up. “We’ll split up and move separately. Everyone search the village for food. Since it’s nighttime, the humanoid monsters won’t appear. Just watch out for the shadows. Any food you find must be brought back here. I’ll handle distribution. If anyone dares to hoard—don’t blame me for being ruthless.”
He turned to leave. Just then, the only woman in the group grabbed his arm, her beautiful face looking helpless and pitiful.
“Brother Ye, I… I’m scared. Can I go with you?”
She wore a light silk nightgown that revealed the elegant curves of her body. The slightly open neckline showed off her fair skin and delicate collarbone, while the thin shoulder straps clung precariously to her smooth shoulders, as if they might fall off at any moment.
The other men couldn’t help but swallow hard. Their protective instincts surged.
But Ye’s face remained impassive. He coldly shook her off.
“I said, split up. The more people you bring, the more likely you are to attract the shadows.”
Still, the woman clung to him, biting her lip.
“Please, Brother Ye… you’re the only Transcendent in our group. Only you can protect me. I… I’ll do anything.”
Ye sneered, his eyes filled with mockery.
“If you know I’m a Transcendent, then you should also know that I’ve got women like you by the dozen. In the real world, maybe you’d be something. But here in the Nightmare World? I can barely protect myself, and you want me to protect you?
Didn’t you say you’d do anything? Then go kill the shadow in the dark. If you pull that off, I’ll personally guard you twenty-four-seven.”
The woman’s face turned ghostly pale, as if all strength had left her body.
Ye looked at her one last time, then picked up a lantern and disappeared into the night.
The desperate woman turned to the others, eyes pleading.
But none of them responded.
They weren’t fools. No one wanted to carry dead weight.
They grabbed their lanterns and left, one by one. Only the middle-aged man hesitated. Finally, he said, “Come with me. It’s better to have someone watching your back.”
The woman’s eyes lit up with joy and she quickly nodded. Her soft, fair arms clung tightly to the man’s.
They picked up a lantern and ventured into the darkness.
Moving carefully through the night, the dim paper lantern flickered weakly. Their bodies were pressed close, close enough to hear each other’s heartbeat.
After a long while, the woman broke the silence.
“Uncle Li, do you think we’ll make it out of here alive?”
Li Qiang stiffened a little, then forced a smile. “Miss Wang—”
“Just call me Lili. You’re a good man, Uncle Li. You’re not like the others.”
“Lili… we’ll survive this. I promise.”
Li Qiang felt a warm sensation in his heart. At the same time, the arms wrapped around his own tightened even more.
That softness, that warmth, seemed to push back some of the fear inside him.
But then—
Snap!
A branch cracked in a nearby alley.
It sounded like someone had stepped on a dried stick.
Both of them froze. They turned sharply, raising their lantern toward the alley’s depths.
It was pitch-black. Like the open maw of a bottomless abyss, silently devouring everything.
“Who’s there?!” Li Qiang shouted in fear. “Brother Ye? Wang Tao?!”
In the flickering glow of the lantern, they could just barely make out a human figure standing silently in the shadows.
It was thin and tall. It didn’t move.
Li Qiang braced himself and raised the lantern higher, trying to see the figure’s face.
Then—the shadow moved.
It stepped forward into the light.
The darkness peeled away from its face like swarming insects, revealing a pale, expressionless visage.
The features were delicate and handsome. A pair of fine tea-colored glasses rested on the bridge of his nose. His lips held a polite, elegant smile.
His deathly white skin shimmered under the candlelight.
