I Use Illusions To Control The Whole World Chapter 26
Do i really look like a monster?
“Ah!!” Lili let out a high-pitched scream—because the pale face in front of her didn’t belong to anyone from their group.
Li Qiang was instantly overwhelmed by fear. His mind was a mess. Why!? Didn’t Brother Ye say humanoid monsters only appear during the day!?
Before he could react, he suddenly felt a pair of soft hands shove him hard. Caught off guard, Li Qiang fell to the ground.
The one who pushed him had already bolted like a madwoman.
Lili knew very well she couldn’t outrun a humanoid monster with her strength—nor could she outrun Li Qiang. If she wanted to survive and not be eaten, she had to let Li Qiang buy her time.
Thud!
Li Qiang’s white paper lantern fell to the ground, and in the momentum of the fall, it rolled all the way to the feet of the pale-faced figure, illuminating the scene behind him.
People! A dense crowd of people!
“Ah! AHH!! Monsters!! Don’t eat me!!”
Li Qiang’s fragile mind shattered under the intense shock. He scrambled from the ground, fell, and scrambled again, rolling and crawling in terror to escape.
Su Mu adjusted his tea-colored glasses with slight exasperation. He hadn’t expected that upon arriving in the Nightmare World—before even encountering a Nightmare Creature—he’d be mistaken as one himself.
After being completely swallowed by the sea of blood in his Dream World, he had awakened in this rundown village. There wasn’t even a single lamp in sight. Most importantly, every source of light he brought with him had failed. To be precise, they still worked, but the light they emitted couldn’t pierce through the darkness of this world.
Turning back to his subordinates, Su Mu asked, “Do I really look like a monster?”
Zhao Chaoyao’s eyes were full of murderous intent as he stared at Li Qiang’s fleeing figure. “He dared insult the Chief. I’ll kill him!”
Yang Dongqing murmured thoughtfully, “From the looks of it, he’s probably a Nightmare Apostle too. Seems he entered before us. He might know something useful about this nightmare.”
Su Mu waved his hand. “Capture him.”
“Yes, Chief!”
Two black-clad men darted out like leopards, rushing straight toward Li Qiang.
Seconds later, the panic-stricken Li Qiang was dragged back like a dead dog by the two men.
“No! Don’t eat me! Please don’t eat me!” Li Qiang thrashed wildly, not daring to open his eyes as he screamed.
After a while, realizing no one was actually attacking him, he froze. Slowly opening his eyes, he was greeted by that same pale, yet handsome face.
The man was smiling warmly, with no trace of hostility.
“Mister, are you a Nightmare Apostle too?” Su Mu asked politely.
Li Qiang nodded on instinct, then suddenly realized something. “Wait, you all are too!?”
“Yes. Just like you, we’re people who accidentally stumbled into the Nightmare World. We’re not monsters.”
“Really?” Li Qiang was still uncertain, glancing at the sea of black-clad men. “But there are so many of you. And you’re all dressed the same. Don’t tell me… you can enter in teams?”
Zhao Chaoyao’s forehead bulged with veins. He grabbed Li Qiang’s collar and growled, “Team up? You think this is a damn vacation?! The Chief asks the questions—you answer them. Got it!?”
“Hey, how many times have I told you—don’t be so violent. Be polite.”
“Yes, Chief.” Zhao Chaoyao let go of Li Qiang’s collar and stepped back behind Su Mu.
Su Mu continued smiling at the terrified Li Qiang. He even straightened out the wrinkles in Li Qiang’s clothes for him. “No need to be nervous. We’re not bad people. By the way, how should I address you?”
“L-Li Qiang,” Li Qiang stammered. For some reason, he felt even more afraid.
“Alright, Mr. Li Qiang. Since we’re all Nightmare Apostles, trapped in this terrifying Dream World, shouldn’t we help each other out? After all, individual strength is limited. Only by working together can we make it through. Don’t you agree?”
Behind the tea-colored lenses, Su Mu’s eyes shimmered with an almost invisible light. Under their gaze, Li Qiang’s terrified heart slowly calmed.
“You’re right. We should help each other,” Li Qiang said sincerely.
“Mr. Li Qiang, you’re a good man. Now, could you please share the information you have?”
As they spoke cordially, Yang Dongqing, watching from the side, felt a chill run down his spine. No matter how many times he witnessed it, Su Mu’s ability to control hearts always filled him with dread and caution.
With Li Qiang answering every question in detail, Su Mu finally got a clear picture of their current nightmare.
Li Qiang’s group originally had ten people. Five were already dead. Only four men and one woman remained. They had entered the Nightmare World three days ago. Unlike Su Mu’s group, they had entered individually.
Among the survivors, only one young man named Ye Fanyu was a Transcendent. It was his third time entering the Nightmare World. The others were ordinary people on their first entry.
Upon arrival, they had all appeared in this village called Zhao Family Village. At night, the village was deserted, but a type of monster called a “shadow” roamed the darkness. It would reach out from the shadows to pull people in. Those pulled in were said to die without exception.
Daytime was even more dangerous. Disappeared villagers would appear again—but they weren’t real villagers. They were monsters wearing human skin. Incredibly strong, nearly impossible to kill, and actively hostile toward humans. If caught, people would be brutally tortured and devoured.
These monsters numbered over a hundred. There was no way to fight them head-on. The only safe place was indoors. The “villagers” seemed to have a natural fear of houses. As long as doors and windows were sealed, they couldn’t enter. However, these monsters could influence the human mind, using every trick to lure people out of safety.
After hearing everything, the smile on Su Mu’s lips deepened.
“Now this… this sounds just a bit exciting.”
