“Miss, please stop attacking!”
“Stop? Why should I?”
“I already told you, my name is Chada Swann. I am a friend of Mr. Du!”
“I don’t understand your gibberish! All I know is that outsiders aren’t allowed in here!”
Chada didn’t want to fight, but the tall woman in front of her was far too agile. If she didn’t use lethal moves, she feared she wouldn’t last much longer.
She simply couldn’t understand it. How could a woman who looked so beautiful and gentle while asleep turn into a bloodthirsty demon the moment she woke up?
Zhongli Chun was also quite bewildered. In her memory, she had just been defending Zhang Family Village against foreign enemies. How did she open her eyes only to find an enemy attacking Du Yu’s inner world?
Furthermore, this woman was babbling in a language she couldn’t understand at all. The mere thought of a second woman existing within Du Yu’s heart filled her with immense fury.
As Zhongli Chun rained down a flurry of punches, Chada had no choice but to draw her rapier and clash against her.
Du Yu finally managed to approach the two of them and immediately grasped the situation.
“Stop… stop fighting!” Du Yu shouted.
Although both women heard Du Yu’s voice, neither could pull back their attacks in time. They slammed into each other fiercely once again.
“Ah!”
Du Yu let out a miserable cry and was sent flying once more. Just before he hit the ground, Chada and Zhongli Chun caught him simultaneously. However, the moment they saw the other touching Du Yu, they held onto him with one hand while immediately launching another assault with the other.
“Hold on! Hold on!” Du Yu yelled several times before finally managing to separate the two.
Both women looked at Du Yu nervously, then glared at each other warily.
“Ouch…” Du Yu finally felt the pain in his chest subside slightly. “I say… what is going on with you two? Why are you fighting?”
“Mr. Du! This lady is being incredibly unreasonable!” Chada said angrily. “I took care of her for days, yet she started attacking me the moment she opened her eyes. Nothing I said worked!”
“Du Yu!” Zhongli Chun complained, feeling equally wronged. “As soon as I woke up, I saw this woman standing in your inner world. Plus, she was spouting endless gibberish. One look and you can tell she’s up to no good!”
Du Yu thought about it carefully and pointed out, “That’s not right… Chada, don’t you have a Translation Talisman? If you were wearing it, Little Zhongli should have understood you perfectly…”
“T-Translation Talisman?” Chada blinked in surprise. “Oh! Mr. Du, I completely forgot until you mentioned it. I assumed I wouldn’t need to communicate with anyone in here, so I tossed it aside!”
“Sigh!” Du Yu shook his head helplessly. “Go put on the Translation Talisman right now. Little Zhongli, hold your horses. This is Chada, my friend.”
Watching Chada scurry away in a panic, Zhongli Chun’s expression grew slightly unnatural.
“Friend…? What kind of… friend?”
“Oh? Oh!” Du Yu hurriedly explained. “Don’t misunderstand, Little Zhongli. It’s not the kind of ‘friend’ you’re thinking of. She already has a husband and a child.”
Hearing this, Zhongli Chun’s tense expression finally relaxed.
Chada found her Translation Talisman, tucked it into her pocket, and turned back to offer Zhongli Chun a hand. “Let me reintroduce myself, my lady. I am Chada Swann, a friend of Mr. Du.”
Zhongli Chun reached out her hand skeptically and asked, “Have you entered the ‘Eight Directions Ghost Record’?”
“Exactly right,” Chada nodded. “Mr. Du and I made a deal. He is taking me to see my daughter, and in exchange, I have become a part of him. That’s all there is to it.”
Only then did Zhongli Chun truly calm down. “I see… I’m sorry… I…”
“No worries at all!” Chada waved her hand dismissively. “You seem to care a great deal about Mr. Du.”
“Eh? Why would you say that…” Du Yu’s face flushed with awkwardness.
“Yes, I care about him very much.” Zhongli Chun nodded, not hiding her feelings in the slightest. “He is my everything. I will protect him with my life.”
Du Yu stared in shock before a slow smile spread across his face. Right, he had almost forgotten. He had almost forgotten exactly what kind of person Little Zhongli was.
“Little Zhongli…” Du Yu looked at her gently and asked, “How are you? Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?”
“Uncomfortable?” Zhongli Chun looked confused. “No, I just feel like I’ve had a good sleep.”
“You’ve been asleep for ten days,” Du Yu smiled bitterly. “You really scared me to death.”
“Ten days?” Zhongli Chun was stunned. “Has it really been that long?”
“Do you remember what happened before you fell asleep?” Du Yu asked.
Zhongli Chun narrowed her eyes, thinking back carefully. “I have a vague impression. I was fighting a man named Zhan Qisheng.”
“That’s right,” Du Yu nodded. “You were incredibly terrifying at that moment.”
“Terrifying?” Zhongli Chun slowly raised her hands, staring at them for a long moment. “I remember possessing unprecedented power back then…”
“Forget about it.” Du Yu interrupted her. “Little Zhongli, that power stems from the rage in your heart. It will twist you into a ‘Demon’. I need you to forget it. No matter when or where, you are never to use that power again.”
“B-but!” Zhongli Chun grew anxious. Her memory was crystal clear: she remembered how Du Yu’s life had hung by a mere thread, and she remembered how that man, Zhan Qisheng, had mercilessly abandoned a woman. Was she not allowed to be angry even in such a situation?
“Little Zhongli, if you become a Demon, we might never see each other again.” Du Yu said with absolute seriousness. “You’ll lose yourself, and you’ll forget me.”
“Forget… you?”
Of everything Du Yu had just said, it seemed only those two words struck a chord with Zhongli Chun. Her expression filled with clear hesitation.
“Yes,” Du Yu nodded. “Even if it’s just for me, you need to allow yourself to be happy, alright?”
It was unclear if Zhongli Chun truly understood, but she gave a dazed nod.
“Alright, let me properly introduce you two.” Du Yu looked between them. “Zhongli Chun, an ancient Queen of Huaxia, the most important person in my heart, and the one who has protected me countless times. And this is Chada, a Legend Operator from the British Empire, and a good friend of mine.”
The two women exchanged a brief glance and gave each other a slight nod.
“Because of the ‘Eight Directions Ghost Record’, both of you are currently inside my inner world. When you two started fighting just now, I nearly died…”
“Died?” The two women paused, not quite understanding.
“Yeah, I finally know what a literal ‘broken heart’ feels like…” Du Yu shuddered in retrospect. If he hadn’t realized there was a problem in his inner world in time and let them fight for a few more rounds, his soul probably would have shattered into pieces.
“It’s all my fault…” Zhongli Chun slowly lowered her head. “You worried about me for so many days, yet I instantly caused you trouble the moment I woke up…”
“No, no, no,” Du Yu laughed. “I’m perfectly fine now, aren’t I?”
Zhongli Chun looked at Du Yu with overwhelming guilt, as if trying to confirm whether he was truly unharmed.
“You are both souls bound to my ‘Eight Directions Ghost Record’, so please try to get along…” Du Yu said with a hint of worry. “Little Zhongli, I know your personality, but Chada really isn’t a bad person. She once opened a ‘portal’ for me during my most desperate hour, so I trust her.”
“Oh…” Zhongli Chun nodded slightly and glanced at Chada.
“Alright, by the way, we are currently inside a legend of Fusang,” Du Yu explained to Zhongli Chun. “Now that you’re awake, I suddenly feel much more at ease. With Chada here to keep you company, you won’t be too bored. You’ll at least have someone to chat with.”
“That’s right, Miss Zhong. Let’s be friends, shall we?”
“My surname is Zhongli,” Zhongli Chun muttered quietly.
“Oh? How rude of me. I am so sorry, Miss Zhongli,” Chada smiled awkwardly. “I still have trouble wrapping my head around your Huaxia surnames.”
As the three of them engaged in this awkward chatter, a voice suddenly drifted down from the sky above: “Senior Du Yu, how are you holding up?”
“Oh!” Du Yu snapped back to reality. “I need to head out and take a look, otherwise my ‘teammates’ will start worrying.”
When Du Yu opened his eyes, he found Zhan Qisheng, Ying Ning, Qu Xi, and Shiranui Asuka all staring at him anxiously. When he had closed his eyes earlier, he became completely unresponsive, which had terrified the whole group.
“I’m fine, I’m fine.” Du Yu stood up with a grin. “Just a misunderstanding.”
“A misunderstanding?” Zhan Qisheng’s face was plastered with bewilderment. “You shot thirty feet into the air, and you’re calling it a misunderstanding?”
“Ah, just a bout of angina,” Du Yu chuckled. “I’m already cured.”
“Angina…” Zhan Qisheng couldn’t be bothered to argue with Du Yu. He sat back down and muttered, “Whatever. As long as you’re fine. If you died here, I wouldn’t know how to explain it.”
“Why would I die?”
Du Yu picked up a fruit and started munching on it. He was in an excellent mood now. Zhongli Chun was back, safe and sound, and full of vitality.
After sitting around in Takamagahara for half a day, the group was finally starting to lose their patience.
They had no idea what exactly they were waiting for.
Only Shiranui Asuka kept her eyes glued to the image projected by the Yata Mirror, not even blinking.
“I say… Asuka… when exactly are we going to advance to the next step?”
“When they say a specific sentence,” Shiranui Asuka replied.
“What sentence? Why don’t I just go and force them to say it?”
“You can’t. They have to discover it on their own and say it naturally. That is how the legend was recorded!”
Unable to convince her otherwise, Du Yu could only sit beside her and watch the projection.
In the image, Izanagi and Izanami were seen continuously inspecting their own bodies, until they suddenly shouted:
“Ah! Sister, I know what ‘God’ meant!”
“What did ‘God’ mean, Brother?”
” ‘God’ wanted us to find out what is ‘different’ about our bodies. Look, there is a part on my body that is ‘extra’!”
“Ah!” Izanami seemed to realize it as well, exclaiming, “Brother, my body has a part that is ‘incomplete’.”
” ‘God’ said we must find a way to ‘solve’ this problem. How about I use my ‘extra’ part to fill in your ‘incomplete’ part!”
Du Yu was dumbfounded. What kind of scandalous conversation was this!?
Shiranui Asuka, however, clapped her hands and cheered, “Excellent! They finally said it!”
