Du Yu mirrored her frown. The surroundings had turned into a dense mountain forest, leaving him completely disoriented.
You Si was clearly drawn to it, immediately walking toward the low growls.
Du Yu quickly picked up his pace and arrived beside her. However, he looked around and did not see any sign of a cave.
Where could that low growl be coming from?
You Si wandered for a moment before suddenly turning her head. She spotted a wild wolf growling not far away.
“Are you trying to intimidate me?” You Si reached out and grasped at the empty air. The wild wolf flew straight toward her, its neck snapping instantly in her grip.
Holding the dead wolf in her hand, she still felt that something was off. That faint growling sound seemed to still be lingering nearby.
You Si moved with graceful, silent steps, eventually stopping before a sheer rock wall.
She examined the seamless rock face, pondered for a moment, and then reached out to touch the stone.
“An array?” You Si paused in surprise. With a forceful sweep of her arm, the entire formation shattered into nothingness, revealing a hidden cave.
Immediately after, an indescribable stench billowed out, making even someone as powerful as You Si frown.
Du Yu focused his gaze. The moment the entrance opened, two white figures darted into a dark corner to hide, acting like wild beasts that permanently resided in this den.
The scene inside the cave was truly terrifying.
Two pristine white skeletons lay on the floor, completely stripped of flesh and blood. The bones were covered in deep teeth marks, as if they had been relentlessly gnawed on.
Beside these two skeletons were the scattered remains of two massive, shattered eggshells.
The largest eggs Du Yu had ever seen were ostrich eggs, but the shells before him were twice that size, easily as large as car tires.
Feeling somewhat intrigued, You Si slowly walked inside.
Driven by curiosity, Du Yu followed her. As soon as he entered the cave, he realized the floor was completely covered in excrement, leaving almost no place to step.
Following that, another series of low growls echoed from the shadows in the corner.
It sounded exactly like an animal warning off enemies that had intruded upon its territory.
“What are you? Come out!” You Si commanded coldly.
However, the two creatures seemed fearful of the woman before them. They only dared to whimper from the darkness, refusing to show themselves.
Losing her patience, You Si let out a sharp shout. Rocks flew everywhere inside the cave, leaving the two white figures with nowhere to hide and forcing them into plain sight.
Taking a closer look, Du Yu’s face contorted in sheer confusion.
Surprisingly, they were two children.
You Si seemed to possess some bizarre magnetism; no matter where she went, she inevitably stumbled upon children.
The two naked toddlers looked even younger than You and Yao, appearing to be no more than a year old. They were filthy from head to toe. Judging by their posture, they had not even learned how to walk yet. Instead, they crouched on all fours like wild beasts, staring warily at You Si.
“What is this…” You Si muttered in confusion. “Are you… also human?”
Baring their baby teeth, the two infants barked incessantly at You Si, fiercely declaring their territorial sovereignty.
“How strange. Don’t humans need to eat?” You Si looked around. “Have you had anything to eat while locked up in here?”
Hearing her words, Du Yu walked over to the two skeletons and leaned down to examine them.
If his guess was correct, these two had not been dead for very long—perhaps a few months, or a year at most.
Yet there was no rotting flesh left on them at all. Could it be that these two infants had survived by continuously feeding on these corpses?
The moment this thought arose, Du Yu froze.
He felt as if he had heard this story somewhere before!
Two people sealed within a cave…
“Could this be the sin committed by Yinglong…?” Du Yu murmured to himself.
He looked at the two infants before him, his expression as complex as if a tragic movie were playing out in his mind.
“You… are my brothers?” Du Yu slowly reached out toward the infants, though they could not see him at all. In utter disbelief, he continued, “A Can, A Kui… did you survive this long by eating your own mother’s corpse?”
“Interesting…” You Si’s lips barely moved. “I have never heard Time mention that beings like you existed in this world.”
The two infants twitched their noses, as if catching a scent, and their gazes were instantly drawn to the wild wolf in You Si’s hand.
Their eyes widened slightly, and drool began to spill from their mouths.
“The world claims that I lack humanity, but it seems you two are the ones truly devoid of it.” As if taking a shred of pity on the infants, You Si added, “I shall reward you with this beast.”
She tossed the dead wolf out, landing it right between A Can and A Kui.
In the very next second, the two babies pounced like starving tigers, instantly tearing into the wolf’s flesh.
If they had not possessed the bloodline of dragons, there would have been no way for their tiny baby teeth to rip through the carcass.
“So that is how it happened.” Du Yu nodded in resignation. “A Can and A Kui were supposed to starve to death in this cave, but you, an existence outside of time, saved them… Is this why they became Great Pivots?”
But how did they suffer a Wrongful Death?
Du Yu pondered for a moment before a look of helpless realization washed over his face.
Because A Can and A Kui encountered You Si, any cause of death brought about by her would inherently be a Wrongful Death.
After all, You Si was also a Great Pivot!
The two infants devoured the wolf’s carcass like a whirlwind scattering clouds, not even leaving the internal organs behind.
Raising their blood-smeared faces, they looked up at You Si with an entirely different look in their eyes.
“What is it?” You Si sneered. “Now that you are full, do you finally have the strength to protect your territory?”
Yet, the babies did not attack her. Instead, they quietly crawled over to her side, leaning against her legs—one on the left, and one on the right.
Their previously ferocious and hostile expressions softened into pure comfort. A Can and A Kui affectionately nuzzled against You Si, acting as if they had just been reunited with their own mother.
Du Yu frowned, suddenly realizing something.
He looked over at the two massive eggshells.
If dragons were oviparous creatures, then A Can and A Kui would naturally follow this biological trait.
Most oviparous animals would imprint on the very first living creature they saw, recognizing it as their mother.
Not to mention, this “mother” had brought them food the moment she appeared.
Feeling deeply offended, You Si initially raised her hand to slaughter these two monstrous freaks. But the moment she saw their endearing expressions, she faltered.
The two toddlers could not speak yet, so they could only continue rubbing against You Si’s thighs to show their affection.
“How truly bizarre…” You Si muttered to herself. “Humans really are strange creatures.”
