Extras Path The Eternal Frost Monarch Chapter 346

Eldrian vaelwood[ … words ]

[ … words ]

Several hours later.

The sun had disappeared beyond the horizon, and Lunathiel had transformed beneath the evening sky.

The magical lamps illuminating the streets had replaced the afternoon sunlight, their gentle glow reflecting against the countless trees and elegant wooden buildings.

The city was still lively.

People walked through the streets, merchants called out to customers, and groups of elves gathered around restaurants and cafés to enjoy their evening.

Meanwhile, Noah and his friends had settled inside a cozy café near one of the main streets.

“Ahh… this coffee is pretty good.”

Damien leaned back in his chair, holding his cup with both hands.

Emma nodded enthusiastically. “Right? I didn’t expect elven coffee to taste this good.”

“I told you elves had good taste,” Arisha said casually.

Leonard took another sip before glancing around the café. “Everything here is so different from the places in the Empire.”

Kaelan nodded. “Their architecture, magical technology, even the way they use natural materials. It’s surprisingly sophisticated.”

Noah listened to them while quietly enjoying his own coffee.

Their table was surrounded by the warm glow of magical lamps. Beyond the large windows, Lunathiel continued to shine beneath the night sky.

Lyria sat beside Noah, occasionally joining the conversation.

For once, Noah wasn’t teasing her.

He simply enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere.

After everything that had happened since their arrival, this was probably the first time he had been able to relax properly.

He slowly raised his cup. Then, for some reason, his gaze drifted toward the window. His hand stopped halfway.

“Hm?”

Someone was standing outside.

Noah narrowed his eyes. Across the street, beside the outer wall of a large building, stood a familiar figure.

Green hair, dark-green robe and calm expression on face. It was Eldrian Vaelwood. One of the elves assigned to guide their group during their stay in Elythraen.

But something felt strange. Eldrian wasn’t doing anything.

He was simply standing there, his back resting lightly against the wall as he gazed toward the street.

Noah stared at him for a few seconds. ’Why is he standing there alone this late?’

Eldrian suddenly turned his head. For a brief moment, their eyes met through the café window.

Noah’s expression remained calm.

Eldrian’s expression didn’t change either. But something about his gaze made Noah feel as though he had been caught watching him.

Then Eldrian looked away. Noah slowly lowered his cup.

“What is it, Noah?”

Lyria noticed his sudden change in expression.

Noah didn’t answer immediately.

His eyes remained fixed on the building across the street.

“…Nothing.”

He smiled faintly.

“Just thought I saw something interesting.”

But inwardly, his thoughts were already racing. ’Why do I have a feeling that something is about to happen?’ He got up from the seat.

“What happened?” Damien asked Noah.

“Nothing, bro. I just saw Sir Eldrian outside. I wanted to ask him a few things, so I’ll go talk to him.”

Without waiting for anyone else to respond, Noah stood up and left the café.

He crossed the road, his eyes remaining on the elf standing against the wall of the building opposite them.

Eldrian noticed him approaching and turned his head. When Noah stopped in front of him, the elf spoke.

“Is there something you need from me, young man?”

Noah gave him a polite smile. “Actually, I wanted to talk to someone knowledgeable about elves. I’ve become quite interested in elven culture and history since coming here.”

“Oh?” Eldrian’s expression brightened slightly. “It’s always good to see young people taking an interest in our history and cultures. What would you like to know?”

“Hehe. Well, first of all, you can just call me Noah. I’m Noah Eldritch.”

“Eldritch?” Eldrian’s eyebrows rose in surprise.

“Now that’s something I didn’t expect. You’re from one of the four great ducal houses of the human empire, the House Eldritch.”

“Yes. I’m the youngest son.”

Eldrian immediately straightened his posture and gave a slight bow. “Then I should properly greet someone from—”

“Wait, you don’t need to do that, Sir Eldrian.” Noah quickly stopped him. “I’m just a student here. I’m not here as the son of some great family.”

Eldrian looked at him for a moment before smiling. “If you insist.” He relaxed his posture again. “So, what was it you wanted to ask me?”

“Well…” Noah looked at him curiously. “Are you a Wood Elf?”

“Yes, I am.” Eldrian smiled.

“Wow. I’ve already met a Lunar Elf and a Wood Elf today, but I haven’t had the chance to meet elves from the other races.”

“That’s only natural.”

Eldrian chuckled. “Sun Elves rarely leave the capital’s central territories, especially members of the royal family. Sea Elves mostly remain within their own regions as well, while Dark Elves tend to stay in their western territories.”

“Hmm…” Noah nodded thoughtfully. “So you’re originally from the northern region, the territory governed by House Eldrathil. When did you come to Lunathiel?”

“It’s been about forty years since I came here.”

“Forty years?”

“Yes. My family sent me here to join the royal family’s military forces in the capital.”

Eldrian’s expression became slightly proud. “For an Elf, serving the royal family is considered a great honor.”

“So you’ve been living here for forty years?”

“That’s right.”

“Do you live alone?”

“No.” Eldrian smiled. “I have a daughter. She’s only eight years old.”

He paused for a moment.

Noah waited patiently, but when Eldrian remained silent, he glanced at him. “And… just your daughter?”

“Yes.” Eldrian’s expression softened. “I live with her here. I once tried to send her back to my family’s territory in the north, where she would have been surrounded by relatives and other children.”

He gave a small, helpless smile. “But she refused to leave my side.” There was warmth in his eyes as he spoke about his daughter. “You might be wondering about my wife.”

Noah remained silent. “She passed away six years ago.”

Eldrian’s voice remained calm, though a trace of sadness could be heard beneath it. “She was killed by a demon.”

Noah’s expression immediately became serious. “I’m sorry to hear that.”

Eldrian smiled gently. “It’s alright. She was also a member of the royal defense forces.”

He looked toward the distant streets of Lunathiel. “That night, I had taken the night off so I could stay home and look after our daughter. My wife, however, was on duty with her squad.”

His expression darkened slightly. “They encountered a group of demons that had somehow crossed into our territory. She and the others fought them…”

He paused. “And she never came home. But as a protector of this city I am proud of her.”

Noah didn’t know what to say. He had only intended to ask a few questions about elven culture. Somehow, the conversation had turned into something much more personal than he had expected.

’Look at me… I barely know this man, and somehow I ended up learning about his entire family.’

Noah scratched his cheek awkwardly. Still, he didn’t want to abruptly change the subject after Eldrian had shared something so painful.

Eldrian seemed to notice his hesitation and chuckled. “Don’t worry about it. I don’t mind talking about her.”

Noah nodded. “I understand.”

Then he smiled. “I’d actually like to meet your daughter someday. She must be a cute little girl.”

“Hehe. Yes, she is.” Eldrian’s face immediately softened. “She’s a wonderful child. And she’s already decided what she wants to become when she grows up.”

“Really? What does she want to be?”

“An archer.” Eldrian laughed softly. “She wants to become an archer just like her mother.”

Noah fell silent for a moment. There was something strangely touching about that. A daughter following in the footsteps of a mother she had lost far too young.

Noah looked at Eldrian.

There was still one question that had been occupying his mind ever since he first learned about the different elven races.

He hesitated briefly before finally asking. “I… wanted to ask you something I’ve been really curious about.”

Eldrian turned toward him.

“What is it?”

Noah looked toward the distant World Tree before returning his gaze to the Wood Elf. “Lunar Magic.”

His eyes narrowed slightly with curiosity. “What exactly is Lunar Magic? Is it something that only Lunar elves can use?”
