Legend Management Bureau Chapter 137
Banquet of the gods[ … words ]
[ … words ]
“Kill her?!” Du Yu exclaimed in shock. “Why?”
“That filthy woman…” Ramla muttered, casting a look of disdain at Gorgon in the distance. “Soon enough, she will brazenly fornicate with a man right inside Athena’s temple, defiling the sacred grounds.”
“Uh…” Du Yu had not expected this to be the reason. “No, but there’s still no need to kill anyone, right? After all, intimacy between a man and a woman is perfectly natural… At worst, just drive them away.”
“Athena is a virgin goddess, and the priestesses of her temple must remain chaste for life! Gorgon committed the most unforgivable sin, but Athena was merciful. She didn’t kill Gorgon directly, nor did she drive them out. She merely placed a curse on her,” Ramla said with a soft sigh. “But she remained unrepentant and went on to kill many more people. In the end, Athena had no choice but to work with Perseus to sever her head.”
“Put that way, Gorgon did go a bit too far.” Du Yu began to understand why Ramla held such a deep prejudice against this Gorgon.
“Du Yu,” Dong Qianqiu called out in his mind.
“Hmm? What is it?”
“Qu Xi asked me to tell you not to listen to Ramla’s one-sided story. According to the records of ancient Greek mythology, Gorgon had a very tragic past. Her tragedy was entirely orchestrated by Athena, and she was hardly some irredeemably evil figure.”
“Oh?” Du Yu raised an eyebrow. Compared to Ramla, he naturally trusted Qu Xi more. “Is that what Qu Xi said?”
Du Yu gave a slight nod before looking at Ramla. “Big sis, are you saying our mission this time is to kill Gorgon?”
“To be precise, it is to help Athena kill Gorgon.”
“Sister Ramla, isn’t she just a mortal?” Shiranui Asuka asked, glancing at Gorgon’s silhouette. “Does it really have to be so troublesome just to kill her?”
“Although she is a mortal, she will transform into a monster once Athena curses her.”
“Are you saying…” Du Yu paused, stunned. “Athena cursed her… to become a monster?”
“Exactly.” Ramla took a sip of red wine. “Perhaps you people from Hua Xia do not understand our legends, but it doesn’t matter. Athena will definitely be able to kill her in the end.”
“Why would Athena make it so complicated?” Du Yu asked. “If that’s the case, she might as well have just given her a swift end from the start! Why torture her like this?”
“God of Hua Xia, as you can see, all these men came to Athena’s temple purely for Gorgon’s beauty. But at the end of the day, Athena is also a woman… Do you understand now?”
“What in the world are you talking about…”
Before Du Yu could wrap his head around it, a wisp of cloud drifted over, and a man plummeted to the ground as swiftly as the Flash. He was sparsely dressed, wearing a golden headband, and surprisingly, he had a pair of wings growing from his ankles.
“Whoa, Ramla, you’re here?” the man said.
“Yes, Hermes.” Ramla nodded. “Has the banquet already started?”
“Of course.” Hermes chuckled. “Are the three of you going?”
“Yes.”
“Excellent. Grab my hand.” Hermes reached out to Ramla. Ramla turned and grabbed Du Yu, and Du Yu followed suit, taking hold of Asuka.
The sound of rushing wind filled their ears as the group instantly took flight at breakneck speed.
Du Yu cried out in shock, “Big sis, where are we going?!”
“To Mount Olympus, of course.”
Hermes led the group as they flew forward. The wings on his feet flapped rapidly, and he occasionally turned his head to chat with Ramla.
“Ramla, what era did you come from this time?”
“From about two thousand five hundred years in the future,” Ramla replied.
“Whoa, that’s a really long time! What have the gods become by then? Is Zeus still our lord?”
“Naturally. Zeus is still our lord. May the lightning bless him forever.”
‘You really have two faces, little girl,’ Du Yu thought to himself. ‘Just a few minutes ago at the Legend Administration, you were talking about usurping the throne.’
“Are they your friends from two thousand five hundred years in the future?”
“No, they are the servants I took in two thousand five hundred years later,” Ramla said.
Du Yu let out a soft sigh, turning his head to whisper to Asuka, “Asuka, in these last two descents, I’ve been nothing but an assistant or a servant. When we go to your legend, please get me a better identity. Otherwise, I’ll just kill Izanagi…”
“Ah?!” Shiranui Asuka jumped in fright. “Senior Du Yu, how could you be like this?”
Before long, a massive, towering mountain appeared before their eyes. The peak was wreathed in clouds and mist, dotted with numerous buildings constructed from white stone.
“We have arrived at the Divine Realm of Mount Olympus.” Hermes set the group down steadily onto the ground. “I need to go welcome Hades now. The banquet has already begun, so you should head inside first.”
The group saw Hermes off. Just as they were about to enter the building, Ramla stopped them.
“God of Hua Xia, Goddess of Fusang, you need to change your clothes,” Ramla said.
“Change clothes?” Du Yu paused. “Is there something wrong with what I’m wearing?”
“It’s not a matter of how it looks.” Ramla shook her head. “Your clothes are too complicated. They aren’t convenient at all.”
“Hmm…?” Shiranui Asuka looked a bit confused. “What do you mean by ‘not convenient’, Sister Ramla?”
Ramla did not answer. She picked up two leaves from the ground and waved her hand, transforming them into two long strips of white fabric. She slowly handed them to the pair.
“Put these on,” she said with a smile. “White represents holiness.”
Du Yu understood the principle of ‘when in Rome, do as the Romans do’, so he had no choice but to accept the garment. However, having never worn Greek clothing before, he could only turn it over and over, trying to figure out where the collar and sleeves were.
After a short while, he heard what sounded like Shiranui Asuka finishing dressing beside him, and he could not help but turn to look.
But one glance left him utterly stunned. How was she ‘dressed’? She had simply draped the white cloth carelessly over her shoulders, leaving her youthful curves fully exposed to the eye.
“S-Sister Ramla… I’ve put on the inner wear, but where is the outer garment?” Shiranui Asuka asked timidly.
“There is no outer garment. You are dressed perfectly just like that,” Ramla said.
“Ah?!”
Shiranui Asuka waved her hands in an absolute panic. “N-No way! If I wear it like this, my sides, my back, my behind… I-I’m completely exposed!”
“So what?” Ramla smiled as she adjusted Shiranui Asuka’s clothing. “Am I not the same?”
Only then did Du Yu realize that the white cloth in his hands was not a proper piece of clothing at all. No wonder he couldn’t find the collar or sleeves. Copying Shiranui Asuka, he draped the white cloth over his body like a scarf. On second thought, he felt this was inappropriate, so he wrapped the white cloth around his waist instead to cover his vital areas. Although this left his upper body completely bare, he felt much more at ease.
“Mhm!” Ramla looked at the two of them and nodded. “Now you look like people of the Greek Realm.”
Both of them wore awkward expressions, and Shiranui Asuka’s face was flushed completely red.
Led by Ramla, the three of them slowly walked into the building before them.
Before they even turned the corner of the corridor, Du Yu heard an extraordinary amount of noise coming from the other end. There were even some strange sounds mixed within. Thinking about it, it was understandable. After all, this was a banquet, and these foreigners always got overly excited after a few drinks.
The scene shifted as the trio arrived at the main hall. With just one glance, Du Yu almost thought he had walked into the wrong place.
Innumerable figures filled the main hall. Seated right in the center was a man over ten feet tall with a grizzled beard. Beside this man sat a woman of unparalleled elegance and luxury. Neither of them wore a single scrap of clothing.
Looking across the entire hall, countless men and women were openly copulating everywhere.
Shouts, wild cheers, and the clinking of wine glasses rang out endlessly.
Everyone seemed to have forgotten who they were, completely immersed in this frenzy.
Du Yu knew that among these people, there was no shortage of intimate blood relations like brothers and sisters, fathers and daughters. Yet, they acted as if they were oblivious to everyone else, indulging in their pleasure to the fullest.
“I…”
Du Yu’s brain crashed once again. Was this really the Divine Realm?
What was a ‘god’?
Weren’t they supposed to be supreme beings who had cast aside all earthly desires and emotions?
Weren’t they all supposed to possess an immortal, transcendent bearing and conduct themselves with absolute dignity?
Weren’t they supposed to be solemn and rational?
Du Yu glanced randomly at a woman. Her face was twisted as she screamed wildly. Was she a god?
He glanced at a man. His expression was completely deranged, brimming with bestial lust. Was he a god?
There were even young boys and girls in this hall who looked barely of age. They were being casually ordered around and toyed with. Were they gods?
“What do you think, God of Hua Xia?” Ramla asked with a smile. “Compared to the Heavenly Court of Hua Xia, this place is much more like paradise, isn’t it?”
Both Du Yu and Asuka were practically frozen in shock. Neither of them spoke a word.
Right at that moment, a drunken man stumbled over and said, “Whoa! Ramla is here!”
No matter what they were doing, all the gods in the hall turned to look at her.
“Ramla, hic!” The man appeared extremely inebriated. “You look beautiful today…”
“Do you want to have me?” Ramla asked with a faint smile.
“Ah, of course I do!” As soon as the man spoke, he reached his hand out toward Ramla.
Ramla slowly looked at Du Yu, a peculiar smile playing on her lips. “I heard that copulating with someone else right in front of the man you love can arouse his protective desires even more.”
Du Yu’s mind went completely blank. After a long moment, he reached out and grabbed Shiranui Asuka’s hand.
“Asuka, we’re abandoning this legend. Let’s go!”
