Suppressing with the leifeng pagoda[ … words ]

“Striking a snake at its most vulnerable spot—what a ruthless method.”
The little emerald snake continuously wriggled its body, found the perfect angle, and clamped its jaws around the woodcutter’s hatchet.
It pulled back with all its might, only to find the white snake’s flesh remarkably tough. The hatchet wouldn’t budge.
Bai Suzhen winced in pain and slowly opened her eyes, only to discover a little emerald snake biting down on the hatchet, pulling frantically.
“Little snake, you should go,” Bai Suzhen whispered. “My heart is already dead. Do not try to save me anymore.”
“No way, big sister!” The little emerald snake shook its head. “I thought I was the only talking snake demon in this world. Now that I’ve finally met you, I have to make sure you live. Even if it’s just to keep me company!”
Looking into the little emerald snake’s clear, bright eyes, Bai Suzhen couldn’t help but feel a pang of emotion.
‘I used to be that small once. Back when I roamed free between heaven and earth, how innocent and happy was I?’
‘Now, after enduring a thousand years to achieve my current cultivation, am I really going to throw my life away for a liar?’
Bai Suzhen suddenly remembered her younger sister was still outside fighting a bitter battle, yet here she was, hiding in the water like a coward drawing into her shell.
‘All of this started because of me. No matter what, I must ensure my sister’s safety.’
“Sister…” Bai Suzhen muttered to herself.
“Eh?” The little emerald snake jumped in surprise. “How did you know I was a girl?”
Bai Suzhen ignored the little emerald snake. She slowly transformed into her human form, reached down, and yanked the bloodstained hatchet from her waist.
“Little green snake, it is far too dangerous outside. Stay in the water and do not come out!”
With those words, Bai Suzhen stepped onto the crashing waves and soared out, her blood still flowing.
The little green snake flashed a mischievous smile. As if she would actually listen.
…
The two strange men exchanged a few blows with Fahai, their expressions turning grim.
The older brother turned to the younger one. “Brother, this old monk is incredibly difficult to deal with. Ask ‘Saint’ for instructions. Find out if we can just kill this monk, otherwise, Du Yu is going to get away.”
The younger brother gave a slight nod. He rapidly retreated, reached into his pocket, and pulled out a cell phone. Dialing a number, he spoke into it in hushed tones.
A moment later, a look of confusion crossed his face, followed by a series of quick nods.
“Brother, let’s go,” the younger one declared. “The mission is over.”
The older brother paused in surprise, then gave a curt nod and also darted back. The two vanished into the air at a speed completely invisible to the naked eye.
Fahai focused his gaze, astonished to find that the two foreign monks he had just been fighting had simply vanished into thin air.
The white and green snakes had disappeared halfway through their battle, and now the two foreign monks had vanished mid-fight as well.
Fahai surveyed the area. The only ones still brawling were the numerous immortals. The battle was half over, and many of the immortals were injured. Some had even shattered their magical artifacts and were now colliding in brutal hand-to-hand combat.
Furthermore, affected by the seawater surging in from all directions, more than half of the many monks in the temple had already lost their lives. This sight caused Fahai immense heartache.
“No, this old monk must stop this disaster…”
With that, he rode his kasaya into the air, soaring straight toward the sky. He grabbed a random heavenly soldier and asked anxiously, “This old monk is from Jinshan Temple, my dharma name is Fahai! May I ask which High Immortal is leading the heavenly troops this time?”
The heavenly soldier’s eyes glinted sharply. He glanced at Fahai, and after confirming that the monk was merely a mortal, he replied, “The one commanding the heavenly troops and generals this time is the Pagoda-Bearing Heavenly King, Li Jing. What business do you have, Grandmaster?”
“Immortal, please pass on a message for me. This old monk has an emergency to report to the Heavenly King!”
“An emergency?” The heavenly soldier paused for a moment before saying, “Grandmaster, follow me!”
The two stepped onto the clouds and ascended step by step, flying all the way to the rear of the massed heavenly troops and generals.
…
Bai Suzhen clutched her wound as she continuously circled in the air. She found it rather strange—where did Fahai, who had just transformed into that massive figure, disappear to?
Behind her trailed a little emerald snake, looking around with keen interest.
At this moment, Medusa was also pulling Du Yu along, searching everywhere for Bai Suzhen. She had felt an ominous premonition earlier and hoped that lowly commoner hadn’t actually met with an accident. After all, she was a pitiful woman too.
It didn’t take long for Medusa to spot the white figure in the distance.
“Ah! Lowly commoner!” Medusa called out.
Bai Suzhen was about to reply, but a sharp pain shot through her waist and abdomen, catching the voice in her throat.
Medusa hurried over to support her, asking, “What happened to you?”
“I…” Bai Suzhen’s expression dimmed. “Don’t bring it up…”
Du Yu inspected Bai Suzhen’s wound and froze in surprise. “A knife wound?”
“Did that man do this?” Medusa asked coldly.
“Yes,” Bai Suzhen nodded. “Forget it. Consider this a ‘clean cut’ between us.”
But Medusa had absolutely no intention of letting Xu Xian off the hook. “Are you saying… that man lied to you, played with you, abandoned you, and then ultimately tried to kill you?”
“I…” Bai Suzhen wanted to deny it, but thinking about it carefully, that was exactly what happened.
She had given him her heart, yet he wanted to kill her.
A faint anger colored Du Yu’s face as he involuntarily clenched his fists.
Suddenly, the little emerald snake darted out from behind Bai Suzhen. It stared at Medusa, its eyes wide as saucers. “Wow… Wow… WOW!!!”
Du Yu and Medusa both blinked in surprise, staring at the little snake in confusion. “Wow what? Who are you?”
The little snake floated up and affectionately wrapped itself around Medusa’s arm. “Big sister! You are an incredibly powerful green snake demon!”
Medusa furrowed her brow. “And so?”
“I admire you so much! You are simply the absolute pinnacle of us green snake demons! When will I ever be able to be like you?!” The little emerald snake continuously rubbed its head against Medusa’s arm.
Everyone was already feeling thoroughly flustered and annoyed, so they ignored this unexpected guest.
“Du Yu, I am going to kill Xu Xian,” Medusa stated coldly.
Bai Suzhen gasped. “Ah? No, you cannot…”
Du Yu let out a soft sigh and said, “Make sure he dies a very painful death. Go.”
Having received her orders, Medusa immediately shot into the air, off to hunt down Xu Xian.
The crowd back at the Legend Management Bureau was given a massive fright. Was this plotline correct?
“Du Yu!” Dong Qianqiu roared. “What are you doing?!”
“I am sorry, Sister Qianqiu, but I cannot tolerate this.” Du Yu gritted his teeth. Looking at Bai Suzhen’s blood-soaked clothes, he added, “Tell me yourselves, is this Xu Xian even human anymore?”
At these words, Dong Qianqiu was somewhat at a loss for words.
“A-Although what he did was indeed crossing the line… he is still a person from the legends…”
“So what?!” Du Yu retorted angrily. “Are the words ‘person from the legends’ his get-out-of-jail-free card? He is so cruel and ruthless, yet we are supposed to just turn a blind eye? Bai Suzhen is also a person from the legends. If she hadn’t been lucky, she would be dead right now! The problem with this legend isn’t about ‘who saved the white snake,’ nor is it about ‘who Xiaoqing is.’ Because Bai Suzhen is still Bai Suzhen, the story can definitely continue. The biggest problem with this legend is that ‘Xu Xian’ is wrong! We do not need this Xu Xian!”
Dong Qianqiu sighed helplessly. Du Yu’s words certainly made sense, but this was the Legend Management Bureau! Ensuring the legends progressed smoothly was their duty!
For the first time, Dong Qianqiu found herself trapped in a dilemma. She could now completely understand exactly how Zhan Qisheng and Du Yu had felt back then.
It wasn’t long before Medusa slowly flew back. “It’s done,” she announced.
Du Yu looked her over, noting that there wasn’t a single trace of blood on her. He then asked, “Did he die a miserable death?”
“He is not dead yet,” Medusa gave a cold smirk. “I turned his legs to stone. Now he cannot move, nor can he walk. It will not be long before he starves to death.”
The little snake wrapped around Medusa’s arm cheered happily, “This big sister is seriously too amazing! You looked so cool just now!”
“Very good.” Du Yu nodded.
…
Li Jing turned pale with fright and couldn’t help but roar, “Grandmaster, is everything you said true?!”
“It is true!!” Fahai replied with exasperation. “Heavenly King, all of this was caused by that green snake. If she hadn’t used demonic arts to summon the shrimp soldiers and crab generals, why would you have needed to descend to the mortal realm with your heavenly troops?!”
Li Jing realized the severity of the situation. He quickly turned to Clairaudience and ordered, “Send a voice transmission to the Dragon Kings of the Four Seas immediately. Check if they are in the Dragon Palace. If they are, have them come here and withdraw their troops at once!”
Clairvoyance acknowledged the order and immediately stepped aside to send the transmission.
“This King will go and subdue that green snake right now.” Li Jing paused, then asked Clairvoyance again, “Have the Four Generals of the Mo Family returned? My intrinsic magical artifact is still with them.”
“Reporting to the Heavenly King, not yet!”
Li Jing furrowed his brow in thought. His spells were cast by controlling his pagoda. Without his pagoda, he feared he wouldn’t be able to suppress that green snake.
“Clairvoyance, look around for me. Are there any pagodas within a radius of five hundred miles that have gathered the essence of the sun and moon?” Li Jing had no choice but to improvise and borrow a mortal pagoda for the time being.
Clairvoyance instantly widened his eyes, scanning the surroundings before reporting, “Reporting to the Heavenly King, the closest pagoda that has gathered the essence of the sun and moon is the Leifeng Pagoda in Hangzhou City!”
“The Leifeng Pagoda? Good!” Li Jing’s eyes turned cold. He reached out a hand in the direction of Hangzhou. A moment later, the rushing sound of wind tearing through the air echoed as a massive pagoda flew over. The closer it got to the crowd, the smaller it shrank, until it finally landed firmly in Li Jing’s palm.
“Grandmaster, please do this King the favor of pointing out which one is the ‘green snake’ you spoke of?!”
Fahai looked down. To his surprise, the green snake was standing in a conspicuous spot, chatting with several people beside her. What baffled him even more was that Huijing was also right there next to them.
“Heavenly King, that young woman dressed in dark green is the green snake!”
Li Jing immediately nodded. With a flick of his wrist, the pagoda rose into the air. It rapidly expanded with the wind, slowly transforming back into a colossal towering structure.
Du Yu and the others were mid-conversation when they suddenly heard a deafening boom from above. They looked up, only to see a gigantic building plummeting from the sky.
The three of them instantly utilized their movement techniques, retreating in three different directions. However, the towering pagoda came crashing straight down toward Medusa.
Medusa furrowed her brow as a pair of wings sprouted from her feet. She dodged a few more times, but the pagoda seemed to have locked onto her. No matter what she did, she simply could not evade it.
Just as the pagoda was bearing down on her head, Bai Suzhen lunged forward with all her might, screaming, “Sister, watch out!”
Medusa and the little green snake on her arm shrieked in unison, “Sister, don’t!”
Yet, Bai Suzhen showed absolutely no sign of retreating. At the very last moment, she shoved Medusa and the little snake out of the way, sending them flying.
A deafening crash echoed as the structure hit the ground, sending a violent tremor through the entire earth.
When the dust settled, Bai Suzhen was trapped beneath the Leifeng Pagoda.
Medusa and the little emerald snake on her arm both stared with wide eyes. A single identical thought surfaced in both their minds: ‘This sister actually sacrificed herself to save me?’
