Legend Management Bureau Chapter 274
The four generals[ … words ]
[ … words ]
Just as Li Mu was about to be sent flying into the distance, a mysterious power suddenly surged from the sky, slowly halting his momentum and freezing him in midair.
The faint, echoing rhythm of war drums drifted through the air.
“Oh?” Xing Tian raised an eyebrow. “Are you finally making your move?”
Looking closely, three more figures slowly descended to the ground. One was charred black all over, carrying a strange large drum on his front. This was one of the Four Generals of Yellow Emperor, Chang Xian.
The second was an elderly man dressed in rags and gripping a long staff. This was also one of the Four Generals of Yellow Emperor, Da Hong.
The third had long hair draped over his shoulders and wore a flowing long gown, giving him the ethereal presence of an immortal. This was the leader of the Four Generals of Yellow Emperor and the Prime Minister of Yellow Emperor, Feng Hou.
Feng Hou gently waved his hand, allowing Li Mu to land softly on the ground.
After steadying himself, Li Mu coughed up several mouthfuls of blood before nervously cupping his hands toward Feng Hou. “Thank you, Prime Minister…”
“Could you not defeat him in the end?” Feng Hou asked.
“That is to be expected,” Feng Hou said. “The world claims that Nameless possesses cultivation on par with both Yan Emperor and Yellow Emperor. An opponent of this caliber is not someone you can handle alone.”
Xing Tian studied the four people before him with a serious expression. He knew they were the four great combat generals under Yellow Emperor. If he could defeat them, he would have an unobstructed path straight to Yellow Emperor’s tent.
But were they really going to be that easy to deal with?
“Hey! Since you are all here, just come at me together!” Xing Tian declared. “I do not have time to waste!”
Li Mu looked at Feng Hou helplessly. “Big Brother Feng Hou, I have already lost. Logically and emotionally, there is no reason for me to continue fighting.”
“I understand,” Feng Hou nodded. “Go wait on the side. We will fight him.”
Li Mu bowed apologetically to the others, then silently walked over to Cangjie and sat down beside him.
“What do you think of him?” Cangjie asked.
Li Mu gave Cangjie a bewildered look and replied, “He possesses a pure, unadulterated strength. Witnessing it has benefited me greatly.”
“Haha,” Cangjie chuckled happily. “Then should I write it down?”
“Write it down?”
Cangjie waved the stone tablet in his hand and said, “Should I inform future generations of your miserable defeat?”
“I do not think you need to rush,” Li Mu said, gazing into the distance at Xing Tian, Feng Hou, and the others. “I have a feeling that I will not be the only one defeated today. This entire Yellow Emperor camp is going to be turned completely upside down by him.”
“Oh? Is that what you think?” Cangjie looked at Xing Tian with keen interest. “Do you think the Yellow Emperor’s camp will be completely slaughtered today?”
“I doubt Nameless would slaughter the Yellow Emperor’s tribesmen, but he likely truly intends to take the Yellow Emperor’s life.”
After saying this, Li Mu fell into deep thought.
Just how was this situation going to unfold today?
…
Yellow Emperor Palace, Main Hall.
“Smack!”
Yellow Emperor slammed his palm onto the table, bellowing, “Nonsense!”
“This lowly one is not speaking nonsense! Every word I said is true!” A man covered in burns was currently kneeling submissively before Yellow Emperor.
“Gou Wu! Even though you are of the same clan as Gou Mang, if you are spreading rumors and causing trouble, I will absolutely not spare you!” Yellow Emperor said with fury etched onto his face.
“This lowly one would never dare spread rumors!” Gou Wu slammed his head heavily against the floor. “My own life is worthless and not worth pitying, but for the sake of the Gou Clan’s reputation, I would not dare speak wildly. That Nameless really is involved with Houtu, I saw it with my own eyes!”
“Simply unbelievable!” Yellow Emperor stood up, completely bewildered. “According to you, Yan Emperor’s great-grandchild, Houtu, is not only a girl, but has already been betrothed to Nameless? And right now, under Yan Emperor’s orders, Nameless has come to our tribe to provoke us?”
An attendant nearby slowly walked over and whispered a few words into Yellow Emperor’s ear.
Upon hearing this, Yellow Emperor’s expression instantly changed. “What?! You are saying Nameless is already fighting with the Four Generals right now?!”
The people in the hall quickly lowered their heads, none daring to respond. They left Yellow Emperor to pace back and forth in the room, deep in thought.
“This is improper!” Yellow Emperor shouted. “Hurry and tell the Four Generals to stand down. I want to meet with Nameless! Yan Emperor has been an ally of our tribe for many years. We have fought countless battles, big and small, side by side. Why would he make such a bizarre decision? There must be some misunderstanding here. I will confront Nameless face-to-face!”
The attendant beside Yellow Emperor pondered for a moment before saying, “Emperor, you can know a person’s face but not their heart. Looking at the entirety of Huaxia today, only you and Yan Emperor can truly be considered regional titans. It is entirely expected that he might want to eliminate you.”
“This…”
The attendant’s words caused Yellow Emperor to fall into deep contemplation, but he still could not bring himself to believe that Yan Emperor would send Nameless to do such a thing.
If they were truly going to war, wouldn’t it make more sense for Yan Emperor to launch a massive invasion?
Why would he let Nameless fight his way to the main camp all by himself?
Yellow Emperor turned his head to look at a middle-aged man sitting to the side. At that moment, the man was drinking wine from the skull of a wild beast.
“Du Kang,” Yellow Emperor called out. “What do you think?”
The middle-aged man named Du Kang picked up the Bone Bowl, downed the yellow wine inside in a single gulp, and flashed a hearty smile. “Emperor, you really have stumped me with that one.”
“If I wasn’t completely out of ideas, I would not be so conflicted.”
“Since you have no idea, and I have no idea, why don’t we just go ask Nameless himself?” Du Kang casually tossed the Bone Bowl aside and slowly stood up.
“You are going to ask Nameless?” Yellow Emperor furrowed his brows in thought. “Are you acquainted with him?”
“As long as there is wine, I am acquainted with anyone.” Du Kang picked up an animal skin waterskin from the ground, tied it to his waist, and said, “I will go ask Nameless what reason he has for attacking us. If his reasoning is far-fetched, I will simply send him straight to the afterlife. But if his reason is sound…”
Du Kang turned back to look at Yellow Emperor.
Yellow Emperor narrowed his eyes slightly and asked, “And if his reason is sound, then what?”
“Then I will let him into the room to speak with you face-to-face, Emperor.”
Yellow Emperor nodded. “I have always upheld benevolence and righteousness. If Nameless truly has a reason that compels him to kill me, I am willing to battle him.”
“Good.” Du Kang chuckled and walked out of the room.
Gou Wu knelt to the side, not daring to utter a single word. This was the first time since he could remember that he had personally visited the Yellow Emperor’s camp. Unlike Yan Emperor’s camp, everyone here seemed to have a “cooperative relationship” with Yellow Emperor. They possessed completely independent thoughts.
Meanwhile, many in Yan Emperor’s camp referred to Yan Emperor as “Father”; they were more like a family bound by life and death.
Outside the Yellow Emperor’s tribe, the fierce battle between Xing Tian and the three great generals was in full swing.
The charred-skinned Chang Xian continuously beat the war drum in front of him with both hands. With every strike, massive soundwaves swept forward. Xing Tian maneuvered his round shield, constantly circling it around his body to block the sonic assaults.
If he let his guard down for even a moment, Feng Hou and Da Hong would lunge at him from the flanks.
Feng Hou’s hands conjured gale-force winds, while Da Hong’s staff was steeped in murderous intent.
Unrushed, Xing Tian parried their attacks with his Giant Axe, remaining completely unharmed.
“Magnificent! Magnificent!” Cangjie carved hieroglyphs into his stone tablet with sheer delight. But how could a few simple words accurately capture the spectacle unfolding before him?
He could only hope that future generations would do their utmost to imagine this unprecedented marvel.
“Da Hong! Hold him off!” Feng Hou retreated three rapid steps backward, leaving the vanguard to Da Hong while he formed earth-shattering hand seals off to the side.
“One after another, you all love to hide from a distance. How can you take my life like that?” Xing Tian sneered coldly, knocking Da Hong away with a powerful swing of his axe.
Da Hong did not stay entangled. He tossed his staff into the air and began forming hand seals of his own.
Watching from the sidelines, Du Yu broke out in a cold sweat. “Crap, those three seem to have given up on fighting Xing Tian in close combat. They intend to win using spells.”
A brilliant light burst from Feng Hou’s eyes. A massive purple gale swirled around his body, gradually converging into an enormous vortex. The clouds in the sky began to twist violently, centering entirely around him.
“Bandit-Sweeping East Wind!”
Feng Hou roared. The fierce wind beside him howled violently, blowing the rocks on the ground into a chaotic forward tumble. No one could stand steady in the face of such force.
Da Hong had also finished casting his spell. The wooden staff in the air had expanded to three times its original size. He leaped up, slapped the top of the weapon with a palm, and bellowed, “Wild Beating on Parasol Tree!”
As soon as the words left his mouth, the thick wooden staff shot straight toward Xing Tian.
Xing Tian narrowed his eyes, pondering how to respond, when Chang Xian, standing the farthest away, began frantically beating the large drum in front of him again:
“Killing Song!”
Waves of drumbeats hurtled forward like cannonballs, constantly detonating across the path as they flew toward Xing Tian.
It seemed that all three had brought out their ultimate trump cards. In this world, aside from Yan Emperor and Yellow Emperor, there was likely no one else worthy of having the three of them join forces and go all out.
Sensing the immense danger, Xing Tian raised his axe and slammed it fiercely into the ground. A towering stone wall instantly erupted from the earth.
The barrage of spells relentlessly bombarded the high wall, shattering it to dust in mere moments.
Seeing their initial strike blocked, the three did not show much surprise. If a single clash was enough to defeat him, he would not be Nameless.
The three generals adjusted their breathing and recast their spells, unleashing power even greater than before.
Xing Tian let out a slow sigh and addressed the group, “It is not that I do not want to use magic, it is just that winning like that is a bit boring.”
With that, Xing Tian casually tossed his axe aside. As the weapon hit the ground, it caused a ripple—like a stone sinking into a pond—and vanished beneath the earth.
“I learned an interesting spell from a friend. Today, I will let you all experience it.”
After speaking, he discarded the use of weapons altogether and instead began forming hand seals. Astonishingly, dense earth-attribute spiritual energy began rippling through the air.
“Let me think, how did that line go again…”
No one had ever expected this nameless burly man to possess such frighteningly high magical attainment. Now, the entire earth was quaking as if it were the end of the world.
“Oh, I remember now,” Xing Tian smiled faintly. He raised his head and announced to the crowd, “She said it like this: ‘I am the earth, I am all things—Myriad Things Kill!'”
