Legend Management Bureau Chapter 316
Heaven’s collapse[ … words ]
[ … words ]
At the foot of Buzhou Mountain.
You Si had completely gained the upper hand.
She surged forward alongside the numerous monks, overwhelming Ying Ning entirely.
Tamamo-no-Mae had no choice but to temporarily join forces with Ying Ning to fend off the massive horde of enemies before them.
A thousand-year-old female ghost from China teaming up with the most famous Yokai from Fusang should have been a thoroughly one-sided battle in any of the Legends. Yet now, they were being forced to steadily retreat by You Si and the black-clad monks.
Answering Shiranui Asuka’s plea for help, Kuchisake-onna and Hachishakusama joined the fray.
Unfortunately, the methods of these two Yokai were mostly suited for slaughtering mortals. Against an opponent of You Si’s caliber, they appeared completely outmatched.
The black-clad monks already outnumbered the allied forces of the Yan Emperor and Saint. With You Si now aiding the enemy, nearly everyone present was locked in a bitter struggle. There was simply no one left to lend a helping hand.
In the blink of an eye, two monks teleported to Ying Ning’s sides. Their pitch-black arms, channeling immense and ominous energy, grabbed at her wrists.
If a normal person merely stood within this extreme cold, the very blood flowing in their veins would have frozen solid. However, the two monks simply adopted a chilling expression and directly seized Ying Ning’s frost-radiating wrists.
Instantly, thick white frost formed over their hands. Their fingers became as pure and translucent as ice sculptures, yet their expressions did not change in the slightest.
“Let go!” Ying Ning shouted furiously, but no matter how hard she struggled, she could not shake off the two monks.
“Stop struggling,” the monk beside Ying Ning sneered. “Let Mother send you to the Ultimate Darkness.”
After speaking, the monk turned to look at You Si, his eyes shining with fervent devotion.
You Si paused briefly before hardening her resolve. Gathering the fierce power of Dafeng into her hand, she flew directly to stand in front of Ying Ning.
If she forced the power of Dafeng into Ying Ning’s body right now, regardless of how many centuries of cultivation the spirit possessed, she would instantly be reduced to ashes.
You Si furrowed her brows. She slowly leaned in close to Ying Ning’s ear and murmured, “Little Yatou, perhaps you didn’t have to die… But if you seek revenge, I will be waiting for you across all of Time.”
Ying Ning was stunned. Before she could process the meaning behind those words, You Si’s palm shot forward.
But just at the very second her palm was about to strike Ying Ning, You Si stopped dead in her tracks.
The raging energy of Dafeng in her hand vanished into nothingness.
The black-clad monks beside her watched in bewilderment. One of them quickly asked, “Mother, what is wrong?”
You Si’s profound gaze swirled like a massive vortex, looking deep, chaotic, and completely conflicted.
An eerie voice echoed in her heart, warning her that she absolutely must not kill Ying Ning here.
The power of this voice was incredibly overwhelming, strong enough to directly dictate her actions.
‘But who is it?’
‘Could it be the original Soul of this body?’
‘Is it that girl named Xie Yujiao?’
At this thought, You Si froze. She had slumbered for far too long. Some memories felt as if they had been buried under thick layers of dust, yet now they were slowly rising to the surface.
In her memories, she held a Wooden Bowl filled with an emerald-green medicinal broth.
She drank the broth in a single gulp, and her memories were subsequently washed away.
She vaguely remembered that she had willingly chosen to abandon her memories.
You Si’s head spun dizzyingly. ‘If I gave up my memories back then and became an entirely different person…’
‘Then why have my original traits resurfaced now?’
She wracked her brain trying to make sense of it, but she could not grasp a single clue. It seemed the effects of that medicinal broth were still lingering.
‘Why did I choose to abandon my memories in the first place?’
“Mother, why are you not striking?” another monk asked.
You Si did not know how to answer. She only knew that she could not kill the girl standing before her right now.
“My children, let her go,” You Si instructed softly.
“Let her go? Why?”
“I have my own plans,” You Si replied, her expression complex as she avoided looking into the eyes of the two monks.
The two monks pondered for a moment before flashing bright, cheerful smiles.
“Alright, we will listen to Mother.”
They slowly released their grip. Upon closer inspection, their hands had already cracked and split open from the extreme cold, yet their faces still carried bright smiles.
“Mother, how do you want her to die?” one of the monks asked.
Hearing their question, You Si lightly bit her lower lip. “I… do not want her to die just yet. Go and deal with the others first. Do not mind me.”
The two monks exchanged a suspicious glance before nodding earnestly. “Understood, Mother. We will plunge this entire place into the Ultimate Darkness, and then we will come to pick you up.”
Watching the two monks walk away, a thoroughly shaken Ying Ning finally let out a breath of relief. However, she immediately raised her guard again. After all, the most troublesome threat, You Si, was still standing right in front of her.
You Si ignored everyone around her. She slowly narrowed her eyes, seemingly lost in deep thought.
“Hey! Woman!” Ying Ning bellowed. “What kind of game are you playing?”
You Si shot Ying Ning a profound look and asked, “Do you and I… know each other?”
Ying Ning felt as though You Si was provoking her. Instantly infuriated, she retorted, “We’ve been fighting for half the day, and now you’re asking me a question like that?!”
“No…” You Si shook her head slowly. “Do you know the owner of this body?”
Ying Ning finally grasped You Si’s meaning and snapped irritably, “I know her, but we aren’t close. I suggest you return this body to Xie Yujiao sooner rather than later, otherwise, none of us will let you off.”
“Return it to Xie Yujiao…?” You Si let out a bitter laugh. “Where do I even begin with that? Xie Yujiao is me, and I am Xie Yujiao. I haven’t forcibly seized her body. I’ve simply recovered some memories, and now my mind is just a bit disoriented, that’s all.”
Ying Ning slowly furrowed her brows, looking at You Si in utter confusion.
“I believe it won’t be long before I slowly remember everything… including everything about Xie Yujiao.”
You Si felt extremely distressed right now. She could only vaguely recall that an uncontrollable event had occurred, prompting her to drink the medicinal broth to forget it all. But what exactly was that event?
‘Why do I feel so conflicted when looking at these hordes of black-clad monks in front of me?’
‘Logically speaking, they all treat me as their mother… Could they possibly be my enemies?’
“You juniors, take my advice. Stop fighting against my children. Your end will be truly miserable if you persist.”
With those words, You Si did not even wait for their reaction. She abruptly soared into the sky and flew away.
Countless monks raised their heads to watch her leave, as if witnessing something completely unfathomable.
“Mother!” the multitude of monks cried out, but You Si never looked back.
From among the crowd, she cast a brief glance at Saint, who was currently gathering his strength. After a slight moment of contemplation, she flew off with a blank expression.
At that exact moment, Saint slowly opened his eyes. “Sorry to keep you waiting. I’m fully prepared.”
Far away at the Legend Management Bureau, Dong Qianqiu hurriedly used Voice Transmission to warn everyone. “Everyone! Get away from Zhi Nv immediately! The Soul-summoning equipment has been activated!”
Everyone scrambled away from Zhi Nv just as a blinding flash of light pulled her away, heavily injuring several monks caught within a hundred-meter radius as collateral damage.
Seeing Zhi Nv’s Soul successfully return, Dong Qianqiu immediately ordered the Four Great Physicians, who had just walked through the door, to step forward and examine her.
Taking advantage of this brief window, Dong Qianqiu turned back to the monitors, only to realize that the scene playing out on the screens resembled an apocalyptic collapse of the heavens and the earth.
