Legend Management Bureau Chapter 329
Diverging paths[ … words ]

Du Yu’s head snapped up. He stared at Fuxi, a chilling smile slowly creeping across his face.
“Fuxi, die,” Du Yu declared coldly. A terrifying surge of power suddenly erupted from his body. His eyes blazed with intense light, and dragon breath spilled from his lips.
Before Fuxi could even react, Du Yu executed a phantom-like movement technique, instantly flashing behind the ancient deity and locking his arm tightly around Fuxi’s neck.
Fuxi was startled, but he was no ordinary being. A mass of nether energy rapidly gathered in his right hand as he viciously clawed at Du Yu’s arm.
A Can kicked off the ground, lunging forward to wrap himself around Fuxi’s arm.
Fuxi was over thirty feet tall. A single one of his arms was the length of a full-grown man.
From the other side, A Kui tackled and restrained Fuxi’s left hand.
Fuxi’s face instantly flushed crimson. He had never imagined that this group of mortals would actually dare to attack him.
“Y-You…”
But when he glanced back, he realized that Xiao Nian, Shiranui Asuka, Shiranui Jinjiro, and Xie Yujiao were still standing frozen in place.
“Do you all have a death wish?!” Du Yu roared in a low voice. “Hurry up and help!”
Xie Yujiao and Jin Jianglang snapped out of their daze and immediately rushed forward.
Xie Yujiao planted several array flags into the surrounding ground, completely immobilizing Fuxi’s serpentine tail.
Steeling his resolve, Shiranui Jinjiro summoned the Golden Flood Dragon Scissors and plunged them directly toward Fuxi’s abdomen.
“Gah!”
Unable to evade, Fuxi was instantly pierced through by the Golden Flood Dragon Scissors.
“Aim true, Brother Jinjiro! Go for the vitals!” Du Yu ordered in a low voice.
Just as Shiranui Jinjiro was about to pull the Golden Flood Dragon Scissors out, a slender hand stopped him.
He turned his head to see that it was Shiranui Asuka.
At this moment, A’xiang’s eyes were welling with tears as she looked at everyone in total bewilderment.
“E-Everyone… what exactly are you doing?” Shiranui Asuka asked, her voice trembling.
“What do you think?” Du Yu replied anxiously. “If we don’t find a way to kill Fuxi, none of us are getting out of here alive!”
“But this is wrong!” Shiranui Asuka cried out. “Why are we allowed to kill so ruthlessly within a legend?”
Du Yu gritted his teeth and looked at Shiranui Asuka. “A’xiang, do you still not understand? Nüwa wants to kill us simply because we are the Great Pivot. To put it nicely, we call ourselves Operators who can alter the course of legends. But to put it bluntly, our very existence here is a plague upon them.”
“Even so… we shouldn’t kill Fuxi…” Shiranui Asuka looked at Du Yu with profound conflict in her eyes. “Senior Du Yu, you seem to have changed…”
“Changed?” Du Yu paused. He knew A’xiang was right. He had indeed changed, but he had been forced into this path. “A’xiang, I’ve just been incredibly lucky. I’ve walked through legends so many times and somehow managed to keep my life. That led me to believe I could handle any tricky situation thrown my way. But what is the reality? These immortals we interact with can crush us as easily as ants. They possess power and lifespans far beyond our own, yet we’re expected to risk our lives working for them. Is that truly fair?”
Du Yu’s words cast a heavy silence over the group. He let out a sigh and continued, “Old Zhan, Ying Ning, and Zhi Nv didn’t have my kind of luck. That’s why they are lying in the Legend Management Bureau right now, waiting to die. Given that, I won’t hold back anymore. I simply cannot afford to lose anyone else.”
Hearing Du Yu’s words, Dong Qianqiu felt a chill run through his heart.
Du Yu wasn’t just analyzing their current predicament; he was venting his deep-seated resentment toward the Legend Management Bureau.
No wonder the Saint had said that after this legend, Zhan Qisheng and the other two would die in battle, leading Du Yu to become the new Saint.
However, Dong Qianqiu realized upon further thought that the situation wasn’t entirely set in stone.
Because Zhan Qisheng and the other two hadn’t perished directly within the legend; instead, they had managed to return to the Legend Management Bureau, barely clinging to life.
And the original Saint hadn’t died either.
No matter how one looked at it, Du Yu had genuinely altered the course of the future.
But where would this future ultimately lead?
“A’xiang! I won’t force you,” Du Yu declared. “Not just you, but I won’t force anyone here. If any of you think my methods are wrong, you don’t have to follow me anymore.”
Hearing this, Shiranui Jinjiro silently pulled Shiranui Asuka’s hand away and said, “Little Xiang, Du Yu is right. If we don’t kill this man right now, every single one of us will lose our lives here.”
Shiranui Asuka looked at Jin Jianglang in utter disbelief. “Brother, even you…?”
Right at that moment, an eerie light flared in the sky.
Du Yu glanced up and shouted, “Brother Jinjiro, do it now! The recall is about to begin!”
Shiranui Jinjiro snapped back to reality. He forcefully yanked the Golden Flood Dragon Scissors out of Fuxi’s body and, this time, drove them ruthlessly right into the deity’s chest.
Although Fuxi possessed divine arts to protect his body, the Golden Flood Dragon Scissors were no ordinary objects. They breached his defenses with terrifying ease.
Shiranui Asuka watched the scene unfold with absolute horror. Aside from her and Xiao Nian, the rest of the group was practically slaughtering the man before them.
In the man’s eyes, there was unwillingness, fury, and remorse—but above all else, there was fear.
Even as an ancient deity, he was terrified. He was terrified that he was about to perish here.
“Will doing this really complete the legend?” Shiranui Asuka asked, staring at Du Yu. Her eyes were completely stripped of the reverence they once held, replaced instead by a profound disappointment. “Will killing Fuxi truly help with Nüwa Repairs the Sky?”
“A’xiang, this is a gamble. I can’t guarantee it will be one hundred percent effective,” Du Yu replied. “If we disappear right after killing Fuxi, Nüwa will assume that the Great Pivot appeared because of the tear in the sky. She’ll believe Fuxi’s death was caused by the Great Pivot, meaning that repairing the sky will equal resolving the Great Pivot.”
“That’s absolutely absurd!” Shiranui Asuka spat, clenching her teeth. “The Senior Du Yu in my memories has certainly made many outrageous gambles before, but he never used murder as his stakes! If you lose this bet, how will you justify taking Fuxi’s life? If Nüwa refuses to follow the path you’ve laid out, who else will you have to kill? You used to be able to come up with countless strategies to handle any situation. Is killing really all you have left?”
Du Yu cast a cold glance at Shiranui Asuka. He let out a faint sigh and said, “If that’s how you feel, I understand.”
“Understand what?”
“A’xiang, starting today, you are free to leave the Legend Management Bureau. The world is vast, and you can go wherever you please. If you wish to return to Fusang, I will personally send someone to escort you.”
“You…!” Shiranui Asuka bit her lip hard.
“After all, once we return, we’ll need to prepare for the massive battle in five days. Keeping you around will only get in the way,” Du Yu added callously. “Since our paths differ, we can no longer walk together. It’s best if we part ways now.”
