“I thought I was the one who understood him best in this world,” Time muttered to himself. “But this time, I cannot see through him.”

Du Yu returned to the Legend Management Bureau, finding it completely deserted.

He and the Chi Ghost stood in place, the atmosphere heavy with silence.

“It is about time,” Du Yu said, glancing back at the Chi Ghost. “You should leave.”

The Chi Ghost gave a slight nod. He turned to leave, but after taking three steps, he halted.

Glancing back at Du Yu, he asked, “Are you truly going to wait here?”

“Yeah,” Du Yu replied calmly, running his fingers across a desk in the Legend Management Bureau. “Did I not say so from the very beginning?”

The Chi Ghost parted his lips as if wanting to say something more, but ultimately settled on two words: “Take care.”

Du Yu nodded.

With that, the Chi Ghost also departed.

Now, only a single mortal with absolutely nothing to his name remained in the sprawling Legend Management Bureau.

“It happens tomorrow, right?” Du Yu murmured to himself. “Then let everything end tomorrow.”

Hearing this, Time double-checked Du Yu’s status, only to discover that the young man had already retreated to his room and gone to bed early.

Was this really the behavior of someone who wanted to end everything?

This eye was so enormous that it occupied nearly half the space inside the stone cave.

The eye cracked open slightly, fixing its gaze upon Time.

“Oh?” Time offered a faint smile. “A rare guest indeed, Mahakala!”

Mahakala’s pupil twitched slightly before he spoke in a slow, resonant voice. “Time, the feud between us can finally be settled.”

“Indeed,” Time agreed with a nod. “Do you need my assistance?”

Mahakala remained silent for a moment before declaring, “I need information that guarantees victory.”

Time shifted his body symbolically and said, “To ensure Du Yu’s death, I will provide you with foolproof intelligence. I only ask that you do not fail this time.”

The massive eye swiveled slowly, presenting a truly terrifying sight.

“Has Du Yu prepared his defenses?” Mahakala asked.

“No.” Time shook his head. “Of all the past incarnations of Du Yu, this one is the most unique.”

“Unique?” Mahakala echoed coldly. “Unique in what way?”

“He has given up.” Time chuckled, as if sharing an amusing joke. “He has dismissed all the Immortal Beings and discarded the Eight Directions Ghost Record. Right now, he is completely alone in the Legend Management Bureau.”

Mahakala blinked, seemingly unable to process those words.

“Are you saying that Du Yu has been reduced to a mere mortal and is currently sitting all by himself, waiting to die?”

“Exactly.”

Mahakala pondered for a moment before asking, “What about those Heavenly Venerables?”

Time closed his eyes to observe. “As far as I can tell, they have all taken refuge in the Western Paradise. After all, that is a place you cannot reach.”

But right after speaking, Time sensed that something was amiss.

Although his gaze could pierce straight into the Western Paradise, he saw no trace of the Heavenly Venerables.

Shakyamuni himself was currently settling a massive crowd of Immortal Beings, but a quick scan revealed that they were all minor deities. There was not a single True Immortal or higher-ranking entity among them.

“How strange…” Time slowly opened his eyes. “Where did the Western Queen Mother and the others go?”

Sensing a discrepancy, Mahakala spoke with a severe tone. “Time, are you underestimating Du Yu? Do you honestly believe he would do nothing and just wait obediently for death?”

Time bristled at the accusation. “Mahakala, who do you think you are talking to? I have been watching Du Yu’s every move for days. He has never issued a single order or muttered a single strategy. If he has remained completely silent, how could he possibly orchestrate a large-scale battle?”

Mahakala also found it perplexing. He softly chanted, “Amitabha,” still feeling unsettled. After considering it for a moment, he demanded, “I need to know the whereabouts of the Western Queen Mother.”

Time scoffed coldly and closed his eyes. Knowing that the Western Queen Mother did not have many places to retreat to, he swept his awareness outwards and quickly located her within the Kunlun Immortal Realm.

“Oh?” Time murmured, his eyes still closed. “I see. The Western Queen Mother did not go to the Western Paradise; she returned to her home on Kunlun Mountain. All the Immortal Beings with the cultivation of a True Immortal or higher are gathered there with her. She probably thinks it is safer.”

Mahakala’s pupil contracted sharply upon hearing this. He sought confirmation from Time once again. “Are you saying that every single Immortal Being at or above the True Immortal level is currently on Kunlun Mountain?”

“Correct,” Time replied. “You are being far too paranoid. Kunlun Mountain is at least a day’s journey from the Underworld. With a full day’s head start, can you really not manage to kill Du Yu?”

Mahakala fell into another heavy silence before slowly closing his massive eye.

“Let us hope you are right, Time. I do not wish to ever see you again.”

Hearing this, the corner of Time’s mouth curled upwards. Did he not also want to escape this wretched place?

Mahakala’s giant eye slowly vanished into thin air, and a profound quiet returned to the stone cave.

It was so quiet that the only sound left was the faint dripping of water hitting the stone floor.

Like a stagnant pool of dead water, Time once again lapsed into silence.

“Kunlun Mountain…” he muttered under his breath. “Let me see exactly what you are trying to do.”
