First kill[ … words ]
[ … words ]
“Are you saying… if I kill him, I can alleviate the suffering in my heart?” Black Impermanence muttered, staring blankly in Du Yu’s direction.
“Yes… This is Su Xiaoxiao’s intention, you should understand,” Mahakasyapa said with a cold sneer. “For her sake, you shouldn’t hesitate anymore.”
“Yes, Su Xiaoxiao…” Black Impermanence nodded. “If only this truly were Su Xiaoxiao’s intention… how wonderful that would be.”
Mahakasyapa furrowed his brows. “Hmm?”
Before anyone could react, Black Impermanence reached out and grabbed Mahakasyapa’s collar. With a powerful heave of his arm, he yanked the monk into the air, tracing an arc before slamming him mercilessly onto the ground.
“Gah!” Mahakasyapa let out a muffled groan.
Black Impermanence took the opportunity to pin him down, his expression cold beyond measure.
“You… what is going on…” Mahakasyapa stared at Black Impermanence in disbelief. “You actually broke the spell yourself…”
“Monk, did you know? Across all the territories of the Youming Underworld, only the space before Su Xiaoxiao’s tomb is blooming with flowers. Those flowers filled my entire courtyard, ultimately toppling Zhan Qisheng’s spirit tablet.” Black Impermanence reached out and choked Mahakasyapa’s neck, speaking with vicious intensity. “As long as the spirit tablet carved from locust wood remains standing, the curse will never dissipate. Yet she knocked that tablet over with her own hands. She never fought for anything, never harbored hatred. She was as pure and flawless as clear water, and yet you tell me she wants me to kill?”
“Fan Wujiu… don’t celebrate too early… Not everyone in this Underworld can break the Reversal Mind Mantra. You guys are bound to lose!”
Black Impermanence snorted coldly. “Pardon my bluntness, but you have truly disappointed me. I thought you might possess some hidden trump card, but just as I said, all you have are vulgar tricks to sow discord.”
After saying that, he pulled back his fist and landed a heavy blow on Mahakasyapa’s face. With a crisp crack, the monk spat out several teeth.
“With your meager cultivation, how could you ever help me advance to a Great Luo Golden Immortal?” Black Impermanence extended a hand, and the Soul-Hooking Chain flew back into his grasp. He snagged the sickle at the top of the chain directly against Mahakasyapa’s throat. “It seems you Ten Great Disciples are nothing but empty titles, completely incapable of matching the original masters.”
“Hehe… is that so…” Mahakasyapa revealed a hideous smile. A split second later, a massive eruption of black aura burst from his body, forcing Fan Wujiu back several steps.
The monstrous monk slowly stood up, and an enormous Buddha illusion materialized behind him.
This great Buddha stood two to three meters tall, composed entirely of black mist, firmly encasing Mahakasyapa within it.
Whenever Mahakasyapa moved, the Buddha moved with him.
The giant Buddha acted like a massive suit of armor draped over his body.
Black Impermanence knitted his brows. Staring at the Buddha that was over three meters tall before him, he muttered, “So you won’t be killed that easily after all…”
But upon closer inspection, he noticed that the wounds on Mahakasyapa’s body were slowly healing, and his complexion had largely returned to normal.
“Black Impermanence, no matter how you injure me, I will always recover to my original state. But what about you?” Mahakasyapa pointed at the gashes on Black Impermanence’s body. “If you don’t stop the bleeding soon, you’ll bleed dry.”
“It’s nothing,” Black Impermanence replied coldly. “I just need to kill you before I run out of blood.”
With that said, Black Impermanence assumed a fighting stance. He took off his tall hat and tossed it far away, allowing a cascade of black hair to spill freely over his shoulders.
Mahakasyapa formed hand seals, and the giant Buddha behind him perfectly mimicked his actions. It then extended a massive palm, long and razor-sharp claws sprouting from each finger, and swung it down violently toward Black Impermanence in a terrifying display of power.
Using all his might, Black Impermanence whipped the chain in his hand upwards, colliding with the massive palm in mid-air with a deafening crash.
“Get back!!” Black Impermanence roared, viciously swinging his arm. The force repelled the giant Buddha, causing it to stumble backward.
Taking advantage of this opening, Black Impermanence rapidly formed incantation gestures with both hands and bellowed, “Three Souls Unite!”
Three massive clusters of ghost fire materialized around Mahakasyapa. Before the monk could even react, they simultaneously crashed into him, striking directly into the abdomen of the giant Buddha.
“Black Impermanence, are you stupid? Even if you…” Mahakasyapa was just about to mock him when he realized that a fine crack had suddenly appeared on the abdomen of the Buddha in front of him.
“You should know that my job is extracting souls from within bodies.” Without waiting for Mahakasyapa to respond, Black Impermanence flicked his right wrist. The Soul-Hooking Chain plunged directly into the crack in the Buddha, slithering like a living venomous snake until it coiled tightly around Mahakasyapa’s neck.
Realizing the imminent danger, Mahakasyapa frantically controlled the massive Buddha behind him, swinging both its hands to grab at Black Impermanence.
Black Impermanence didn’t bat an eye, nor did he try to dodge. He simply let the two giant claws carve several more gruesome lacerations into his body.
“Infernal Soul-Reaping Kill Array!”
The grip around Mahakasyapa’s neck tightened abruptly, and Black Impermanence forcefully yanked his entire body out from within the phantom.
The Soul-Hooking Chain continuously extended around the monstrous monk, rapidly entangling his limbs and torso. Meanwhile, the giant Buddha behind him seemed to lose all its power, freezing entirely in place.
Immediately after, the chains wrapping Mahakasyapa suddenly sprouted a dense array of spikes that pierced deeply into his flesh.
In an instant, agonizing screams filled the air.
“An ascetic monk, heh.” Black Impermanence shook his head, staring at the struggling monk. “You should go ask the real Mahakasyapa what true ‘asceticism’ means.”
With those words, all the spikes embedded in Mahakasyapa began to spin furiously. In just a few blinks of an eye, they shredded the living man into bloody pieces.
The agonizing screams came to an abrupt halt.
Only the black Buddha was left standing quietly in place.
Black Impermanence was just about to breathe a sigh of relief when he felt an extremely unusual pressure emanating from the black Buddha.
He looked up and saw that the giant black Buddha, now devoid of its core, was suddenly becoming volatile. It was as if something inside was threatening to burst out.
“Not good!”
He threw his arms up to shield his face, but he never expected the black Buddha to trigger a massive explosion. The sheer force sent him tumbling backwards, flipping head over heels.
It took a long time for Black Impermanence to finally climb back to his feet in the distance. He glanced down at his arms, only to find them mangled into a bloody mess.
“Old Eight?!” Xie Bi’an’s voice transmission echoed in Black Impermanence’s mind. “What happened on your end? With a blast that loud, don’t tell me you died, kid?”
“I’m still alive.” Black Impermanence shook the blood off his arms and spoke coldly. “Old Xie, I need you to pass along two pieces of information for me. First, they can cast a bizarre spell called the Reversal Mind Mantra, which might turn our own people against us. Second, after their main bodies die, those giant Buddhas will detonate with immense destructive power.”
Upon hearing Fan Wujiu’s voice transmission, White Impermanence frowned slightly. “Understood… How are your injuries? You’re not going to drop dead on me in a little while, are you?”
“I won’t die. Just take care of yourself.” Black Impermanence narrowed his eyes and scanned his surroundings. At this moment, all the immortal beings were locked in fierce combat with the black monks. Although he couldn’t feel pain, his hands and feet had grown ice-cold. He had likely lost far too much blood.
In this moment, with his hair disheveled and his entire body drenched in blood, Black Impermanence looked exactly like an evil ghost.
