Legend Management Bureau Chapter 357
Three treasures of hell[ … words ]
[ … words ]
Horse Face froze for a brief second before instantly grasping the situation before him. “Third Brother, run far away!” he shouted. “Whatever you do, don’t bring ‘that thing’ over here!”
“I can’t, Fourth Brother! If I keep running, I’m going to be beaten to death!” Completely ignoring Horse Face’s warnings, Ox Head flew directly to his side.
The man chasing Ox Head also slowly came to a halt, coming to a stand alongside Purna.
Upon closer inspection, this person was lean and wiry, with a pair of exceptionally spirited eyes.
“Ox Head, why are you running?” the lean monk asked with a smile. “I only want to beat you to death, that’s all.”
Hearing the monk’s words, Ox Head was so frightened he did not know what to do. “Fourth Brother, think of something quickly! I really didn’t bring my Magical Treasure today.”
Horse Face scratched his head. “Third Brother, it has been over five hundred years since I last saw your Magical Treasure. Don’t tell me you lost it?”
“Eh?!” Ox Head stared blankly. “How did you know… Ah, no, no, I didn’t lose it! I just forgot to bring it…”
Seeing Ox Head act like this, Horse Face could guess exactly what had happened. He could only sigh and say helplessly, “It is a miracle you’ve managed to be an Underworld Messenger for so many years without a Magical Treasure.”
“We can’t,” Horse Face stated flatly. “Unless you can kill one of them without using a Magical Treasure.”
“Fourth Brother, are you joking with me?” Ox Head said foolishly. “If I could kill one barehanded, I could definitely kill a second one!”
“Am I joking?” Horse Face was practically dying of anger. “You knew perfectly well this was the great war in the Immortal Realm, yet you came here barehanded to engage the enemy in hand-to-hand combat. Who do you think is joking?”
Ox Head carelessly waved his hand. “At worst, I’ll just self-detonate my Nascent Soul later! I can at least take one down with me!”
“Enough, enough!” Horse Face waved his hand in exasperation. “Third Brother, you’d better keep your Nascent Soul intact. Word just spread across the Battlefield that Old Eight killed one of the Ten Great Disciples all by himself. As his sworn older brothers, we can’t possibly lose to him, can we?”
“What the heck?!” Ox Head was stunned. He pointed a finger thick with bovine hair at the monk in front of them, nearly poking the enemy right in the nose. “You’re saying Old Eight killed one of these things all by himself?”
“Hey, hey, hey, what do you mean by ‘these things’?” the monk retorted.
The two ignored the monk and continued their chat.
“Third Brother, although our cultivation isn’t as high as Old Seven and Old Eight’s, we can’t lose out in spirit. No matter what, we are still part of the Eight Great Underworld Messengers personally ordained by Lady Houtu. Under no circumstances can we bring shame to her,” Horse Face said with a solemn expression. “Right now, you and I don’t just represent ourselves. We represent the responsibility of an Underworld Messenger and the glory of the Underworld.”
Ox Head was deeply moved by Horse Face’s imposing manner.
He took a deep breath, steadied his mind, and said, “Fourth Brother, you’re right. The way I ran away just now was far too embarrassing. Just tell me how you want to fight, and I’ll do exactly as you say.”
“Good!” Horse Face sneered coldly. Glaring viciously at the two monks before them, he said, “Third Brother, listen well. In a moment, you go left, and I go right.”
“Understood,” Ox Head nodded. “And then?”
“Then I want you to unleash your escape speed to the max and push off with all the strength in your legs.”
“Got it! And then?”
Horse Face wrapped his Whip around his arm and said coldly, “And then we run for our damn lives in separate directions. Whether we find Old Seven, Old Eight, Big Brother, or Second Brother, as long as we find one of them, we’ll survive. Do you understand?”
“Alright… wait, huh?” Ox Head blinked. “What the hell! Fourth Brother, you spent all this time planning, and you were just planning an escape route?!”
But when he turned around, he found that Horse Face had already sprinted far away.
“You bastard!” Ox Head cursed loudly, immediately breaking into a run after Horse Face. “At least wait for me!”
The two monks were momentarily dumbfounded. They hadn’t expected this situation at all and could only give chase.
“Third Brother, what are you doing?!” Horse Face looked back, panic written all over his face. “Didn’t I say you go left and I go right?! Why are you following me?!”
“Are you messing with me on purpose?” Ox Head grumbled. Turning his head, he saw the two monks hot on their heels. With no time for further argument, he simply lowered his head and kept running.
Horse Face accelerated again.
“Fourth Brother, wait for me!!” Ox Head also tried to speed up, but his massive frame prevented him from moving quickly. Trailing behind, he could only shout, “Fourth Brother, what about… what about the responsibility of an Underworld Messenger?! What about the glory of the Underworld?!”
“Third Brother! I only said that to lower their guard! It was all to buy us time!” Horse Face’s voice echoed from a distance. “You can’t blame me for this!”
“Lower the enemy’s guard?! The only one whose guard you lowered was mine!”
The two ran for quite some time, panting heavily. Just as they were about to be caught by the enemy, a figure in white suddenly appeared before them.
“Old Seven?!” Horse Face was overjoyed.
White Impermanence turned around. Seeing the two of them rushing toward him as if they were running for their lives, he asked, “Third Brother, Fourth Brother, what’s wrong?”
“Old Seven, hurry up and help! Two of the Ten Great Disciples!” Horse Face shrieked, his voice cracking.
“Two of the Ten Great Disciples?!” White Impermanence furrowed his brows and sneered coldly. “Understood. Third Brother, Fourth Brother, you two run first.”
Hearing White Impermanence’s words, the pair’s footsteps actually slowed down.
“We run first? Old Seven, what about you?”
Even though the two of them were afraid of death, they couldn’t bring themselves to leave Old Seven behind to die alone.
White Impermanence cast a cold glance at the rapidly approaching monks not far away, and then said slowly, “I’ll run in the opposite direction.”
Horse Face stared blankly, his eyes wide as saucers.
“Good grief, you’re even more ruthless!” Horse Face snapped out of it and said angrily, “You’re just using us as bait, aren’t you?!”
Ox Head grabbed White Impermanence. “Old Seven, stop messing around! Just fight them already!”
White Impermanence gave an awkward smile and genuinely turned around to run.
“Hey, hey, hey?!” Horse Face thought he could finally take a break, but didn’t expect they still had to flee for their lives. He could only grit his teeth and chase after him. “Old Seven, why aren’t you fighting them? Old Eight managed to kill one, surely you can at least…”
“Fourth Brother, don’t ask for the impossible!” White Impermanence interrupted him. “Old Eight is a mad dog. I’m not. Compared to him, I’m at best a ‘polite and humble ornamental lap dog’. Besides, there are two of them! Two of them, do you understand?!”
After running for a few hundred meters, Ox Head, who had been lagging behind from the start, was completely out of strength. He looked back and saw the two monks practically right on top of him.
“I’m doomed!” Ox Head wailed. It was as if he could already envision his soul scattered and spirit dispersed.
Right at that moment, Xie Bi’an let out a cold laugh and silently chanted under his breath, “Explode!”
With a deafening boom, a terrifying explosion erupted around the two monks.
