Legend Management Bureau Chapter 367
Northern domain[ … words ]
[ … words ]
The Northern Emperor released an earth-shattering aura of killing intent as he faced Chang’e.
“Don’t…!” Du Yu exclaimed. “Fairy Chang’e has suffered enough in her life. There’s no need for you to attack her!”
The Northern Emperor sneered again and looked back. “Du Yu, who do you think you are? I only said I would protect you, not that I would take orders from you. This fairy clearly wants your life, and I cannot allow that.”
Du Yu’s eyes were exceptionally dim. Thinking it over carefully, he had indeed done many treacherous things in the Legends. Thus, he looked at the Northern Emperor and said slowly, “Northern Emperor, I really don’t want to fight Chang’e.”
The Northern Emperor ignored him entirely. He reached out and formed a few hand seals. Instantly, the silver hair on his head elongated at a rapid pace, piercing toward Fairy Chang’e like bullets from a machine gun.
Fairy Chang’e had no power to strike back; she could only use all her strength to defend herself.
Her silk Magical Treasure quickly developed cracks as well.
Unlike the black-clad monk, it was as easy as flipping a hand for a genuine Great Luo Golden Immortal like the Northern Emperor to kill a True Immortal like Fairy Chang’e.
Seeing that Chang’e was on the verge of defeat, Du Yu rushed forward and grabbed the Northern Emperor. “Northern Emperor, that’s enough!”
Du Yu was left utterly speechless by the Northern Emperor’s words.
He was right. He wasn’t taking orders from Du Yu; rather, he was making choices based on what was most advantageous for himself.
For him at this moment, killing Chang’e was entirely beneficial without a single drawback.
Soon enough, all of Chang’e’s Magical Treasures shattered, turning into wisps of threads in the air.
Chang’e’s chest and lower abdomen were slashed by the Northern Emperor’s razor-sharp hair. Her clothes tore open, and fresh blood flowed out.
She grimaced in pain, panting heavily with an agonized expression.
“Pang Meng… I will scatter your ashes to the wind!!”
Chang’e pulled a hairpin from her hair ornaments and slashed both of her wrists with blinding speed.
However, blood did not flow from her wrists; instead, they emitted a faint light.
Chang’e silently chanted, “I am the bright moon!”
A colossal phantom of the moon materialized behind her. This moon continuously absorbed the glowing light shooting from her wrists.
The color gradually drained from Chang’e’s face.
It was as if she had converted all her blood into the bright moon behind her.
The bright moon greedily sucked away Chang’e’s essence, growing increasingly radiant.
“Moonlight Illumination!”
The bright moon transformed into a blood moon, and its naturally cold moonlight actually began to turn searingly hot.
Du Yu and the Northern Emperor felt as if they were facing a blazing sun rather than a moon.
“It looks like a mutually destructive technique,” the Northern Emperor stated coldly. “Du Yu, do you see now? She truly wants to take your life.”
Seeing that Du Yu remained silent, the Northern Emperor added, “Even if it means her death, she wants yours.”
Du Yu still hadn’t recovered from his grief and shock. Cui Jue had just fallen; was he going to lose Chang’e now too?
Just how great a price had to be paid for this battle to finally end?
While Du Yu was in a daze, Chang’e had no intention of giving him a chance.
The enormous red moon radiated scalding heat, eventually converging into a single beam of light that blasted straight toward Du Yu.
In that microsecond of an interval, the Northern Emperor hesitated.
He didn’t know if he could block the desperate death throes of a True Immortal.
And precisely because of the Northern Emperor’s hesitation, the crimson moonlight surged directly toward Du Yu’s chest.
Suddenly, a tiny, pure white creature leaped out from nowhere, placing itself right in front of Du Yu.
Chang’e seemed to notice something amiss. She instantly reduced the intensity of her attack and stopped the hands that were casting the spell.
But the scorching red beam still struck the white silhouette, spraying out a mist of blood.
When Du Yu opened his eyes, he found a blood-soaked white rabbit hovering before his chest.
It must have traded its own life to save Du Yu’s.
“Brother Da Yi!”
Du Yu cried out in alarm and hurriedly caught the white rabbit in his palms, only to find that it was already on the verge of death.
Chang’e widened her eyes, and after a long moment, she let out a tragic shriek, “Yi!!”
Lying in Du Yu’s hands, the white rabbit forced a weak smile and waved a paw at Chang’e.
Chang’e hastily reached out and grasped the white rabbit’s paw.
The white rabbit used its other blood-soaked paw to repeatedly point at its own neck.
“Brother Da Yi!” Du Yu asked frantically. “What’s wrong? Are you having trouble breathing?! You have to hang on… Supreme Lord Lao is nearby, he can save you!”
The white rabbit continued to smile bitterly, pointing at its neck as tears streamed from its crimson eyes.
Beside it, Chang’e began to sob softly.
Du Yu didn’t know, but she did.
The white rabbit’s neck had always held its deepest attachment.
It was the phrase Chang’e had personally tattooed there—
“The Moon Rises Bright.”
The one Da Yi fell in love with was that pure white maiden.
It was the maiden as immaculate as the moon.
It was the maiden who was willing to flee to the bright moon for the sake of the world’s common people.
For a Chang’e like that, he was willing to fall into the animal realm.
Hot tears rolled down Chang’e’s eyes. It took her a long while to finally choke out three words, “I am sorry…”
As soon as she spoke, the madness in Chang’e’s eyes receded, replaced by her former gentleness.
Du Yu knew she had pulled through.
“Lady Heng E…” Du Yu looked at the Chang’e before him with an aching heart, knowing that the world had been far too unfair to this woman.
“Brother Pang Meng, you must be careful,” Chang’e said slowly. “I still feel a lingering fear about the sensation from just now… I truly wanted to put you to death without the slightest hesitation.”
“I know… I…” Du Yu gritted his teeth and declared fiercely, “I will make the person who bewitched you pay the price.”
Before Chang’e could even nod, several strands of silver-white hair shot out explosively, piercing directly through her heart meridian.
Chang’e was already injured. Suffering this attack now, her eyes immediately dimmed as a trickle of blood leaked from her mouth.
Du Yu froze in place instantly. Turning his head, he saw the Northern Emperor dealing the fatal blow to Chang’e without a shred of hesitation.
Chang’e, however, showed no intention of blaming the Northern Emperor. Instead, she took the white rabbit from Du Yu’s hands and cradled it in her embrace.
She smiled at Du Yu, then plummeted toward the ground, holding the white rabbit tight.
“Heng…”
Flames of rage practically spewed from Du Yu’s eyes. He whipped around and seized the Northern Emperor by the collar.
“Are you insane?!”
Du Yu roared at the top of his lungs. “Heng E had already snapped out of it! She had given up resisting! Why did you still have to kill her?!”
The Northern Emperor’s pupils shifted slightly as he looked at Du Yu. “Do you know who you are speaking to?”
“I don’t care who you are!”
Du Yu swung his fist, aiming a vicious punch straight at the Northern Emperor’s face, only for it to be blocked by the emperor’s hair.
