“Interesting.”
You Si sneered, then lightly waved her hand, causing the ropes binding Zhan Qisheng to snap instantly.
“The way everyone screams for your blood is quite similar to my own situation. Though I have no idea why I bothered saving you… since I have nothing better to do, consider it my way of seeking amusement.”
You Si waved her hand lightly again. Out of thin air, she and Zhan Qisheng were transported to an empty clearing half a kilometer away.
The moment the two of them landed, the distant roar of a dragon swept through the village.
Zhan Qisheng stared blankly at the distant sea of flames, muttering to himself, “With this demonic beast causing such chaos… Qinglian and Taohua won’t be able to find their way home…”
You Si frowned slightly. “You clearly possess such immense power, so why didn’t you just kill those people?”
“Power?” Zhan Qisheng turned around, a stubborn expression on his face. “Just because my power is greater than theirs, I should kill them?”
“Shouldn’t you?” You Si asked, genuinely puzzled. “You were born with a special spiritual root and possess the body of an immortal. Yet, you allowed a bunch of ants to tie you up and nearly burn you to death. Isn’t that laughable?”
The moment Zhan Qisheng finished speaking, You Si was instantly gripped by terror.
Images of being crushed to death by Mahakala replayed endlessly in her mind, over and over again… A profound sense of powerlessness and dread completely hijacked her thoughts.
In the next second, she let out a heart-wrenching shriek. “Oh no! I thought of him again!!”
You Si hurriedly reached out, forming a hand seal right in front of Zhan Qisheng. “I cannot stay here… Even though my strength is decent now, but…”
She shook her head, feeling it was still too risky. She tightly shut her eyes, and her entire figure vanished from the spot.
When You Si vanished, even her footprints disappeared with her. Amidst the howling wind and heavy snow, it was as if she had never been there at all.
“Oh?” Zhan Qisheng raised an eyebrow slightly. “What an interesting magic spell.”
With that, he mimicked You Si’s movements, forming the exact same hand seal. A second later, Zhan Qisheng vanished as well.
The exact moment the two disappeared, Maudgalyayana and the Dragon-Taming Arhat materialized out of thin air. They glanced around but found absolutely no one.
“Sigh…” Maudgalyayana shook his head helplessly. “It seems Mother is still unwilling to forgive us… She misses us, yet she hides from us…”
“Forget it,” the Dragon-Taming Arhat stated. “Sooner or later, our Buddha will receive Mother’s longing once again.”
The scene in front of Du Yu shimmered, shifting to a sweltering summer.
As soon as You Si touched the ground, she spotted Zhan Qisheng standing a short distance away.
Zhan Qisheng flashed a smile and remarked, “You’re here too? This really is incredible magic…”
“You…?” You Si glanced around, realizing they were in the middle of a desolate wilderness. But how had this boy followed her here?
Zhan Qisheng scratched his head and strolled over to her. “Even though I copied you and cast the same spell… I waited for a full hour without seeing you. I thought I went to the wrong place.”
Hearing this, You Si was even more utterly baffled. “Are you saying… not only did you instantly learn my spell, but you actually arrived an hour before I did?”
“Huh?” Zhan Qisheng blinked in confusion. “I don’t know why I arrived an hour early either. Maybe my cultivation isn’t refined enough yet.”
You Si continuously tried to steady her breathing. Having wandered the world for so long, she had never seen anyone with such extraordinary talent. He was actually able to instantly grasp Time Magic, a profound art that ordinary people couldn’t comprehend in a lifetime! Did he possess some sort of unique constitution as well?
However, You Si knew that she had encountered this kind of exceptionally gifted and eccentric youth before. That particular person was still trying to kill her to this day… At this thought, she hastily reined in her mind. If she remembered that name again, the black-clad monk would immediately follow.
“Young kid, don’t follow me anymore,” You Si instructed slowly. “Now that you’ve learned this trick, you can go wherever you please. Just don’t appear in front of me again.”
Watching her retreating silhouette, Zhan Qisheng wordlessly followed right behind her.
They walked for a full hour before You Si snapped out of her daze and barked impatiently, “Can you not understand human speech? I told you to get lost! Must I kill you to make you leave?”
Zhan Qisheng pondered for a moment before replying, “Senior, you saved my life. I cannot simply walk away.”
Only then did You Si remember what a peculiar person this boy was.
He was willing to die for whoever saved him.
“I don’t need your gratitude, so you can leave,” You Si declared without looking back, continuing her trek forward.
But Zhan Qisheng was exceptionally stubborn. He relentlessly kept pace with her.
The two of them trekked through the mountains for several consecutive days. No matter how much You Si tried to drive him away, Zhan Qisheng silently tailed her.
During the day, You Si hurried along. At night, they would rest on opposite sides beneath a large tree.
On the night of a full moon, Zhan Qisheng finally broke the silence. “Senior, what exactly are you looking for? If possible, I am willing to help as a way of repaying my debt to you.”
“I…”
If Zhan Qisheng hadn’t asked, You Si would have nearly forgotten her own goal.
She needed to find someone to become “Time”, so she could stay together with “Time” forever.
But right now… wasn’t the opposition a bit too overwhelming?
“Young kid, what about you?” You Si pulled a flask of mortal yellow wine from her robes. She gently lifted her veil, tilted her head back to take a swig, and then tossed it over to Zhan Qisheng. “What is your reason for wandering this world?”
Catching the flask of yellow wine, Zhan Qisheng let out a faint sigh. “I don’t know either. I have no idea where I came from, nor do I know where I should go.”
With a mournful gaze fixed on the full moon above, he took a sip of the wine.
“Senior, did you know? I don’t have any friends or family. I don’t even have a place to return to,” Zhan Qisheng confessed with a bitter smile. “Perhaps when I saw you, Senior… I felt that we were quite alike, which is why I’ve kept following you.”
You Si furrowed her brow. She sensed that the youth in front of her was completely different from all the other “children” she had encountered before. He possessed a truly unique aura.
“Young kid, with your incredible comprehension, don’t you plan on cultivating to become an immortal?”
“An immortal?” Zhan Qisheng passed the wine flask back to her. “I can become an immortal?”
“Indeed.” You Si took the flask and nodded. “I have heard that individuals with peerless talent can become immortals through their own efforts. That path seems perfectly suited for you.”
“Then, is Senior willing to teach me?” Zhan Qisheng looked at her, his eyes shining with anticipation.
“You…” You Si shot him a complicated look before saying, “You cannot learn from me. Otherwise, it’ll end up just like Mahakala…”
You Si viciously cursed herself, then smashed the wine flask onto the ground. “Young kid! Hurry up and leave! Go wait for me at this exact spot three months in the future!”
