Legend Management Bureau Chapter 439
Shiranui[ … words ]

You Si took a deep breath and gently flicked her finger.
The crimson bead drifted toward Du Yu.
Under their gaze, the bead slowly fractured. A drop of something resembling magma oozed out and dripped onto Du Yu.
Instantly, a raging fire ignited!
Du Yu’s body rapidly transformed into a liquefied flame that looked like magma, surrounded by a massive aura of bluish-purple fire.
A scorching wave of heat blasted outward like an explosion, forcing You Si to take a step back.
“Ahhh!”
Du Yu screamed at the top of his lungs. The agony inflicted by this fire surpassed any kind of accelerant.
Whether alcohol or oil, the pain they caused could not even compare to a tenth of this flame.
Severe burns were classified as level nine.
The reason intermittent screams could be heard when someone burned to death was that most victims would go into shock midway through the pain.
But immediately after, the agony would jolt them awake, only for them to fall back into shock from the severe pain.
In this endless cycle of suffering, they would slowly die.
If this suffering were replaced with ‘never-ending,’ the burned area expanded to the ‘entire body,’ and the fire changed to the ‘fire of an Immortal Being’…
That would describe Du Yu’s current predicament.
Under You Si’s watchful eyes, a human torch threw itself off the chair, ran frantically for a few steps, and then crashed heavily onto the ground.
His long hair was entirely singed away, and the nails on his hands and feet burned and peeled off.
He screamed endlessly, yet he could not go into shock.
Time absolutely could not lose consciousness.
Du Yu rolled on the ground, tearing his throat out in agony amidst this excruciating pain.
He could not think about anything at all.
Nor could he even stand up.
The human body’s pain receptors were mostly distributed across the skin. If his skin burned away completely, Du Yu might feel a bit better.
Unfortunately for him, his skin constantly regenerated, forcing him to experience this agonizing pain round after round.
“Time!” You Si finally revealed a worried expression. She took a step forward, wanting to help Du Yu up.
“No!” Du Yu roared. “Don’t touch me!”
You Si’s hand paused in mid-air. She knew Time was right. If she were tainted by this fire, she too would howl and roll around like Time, ultimately dying a miserable death.
“How… how can I help you?” You Si asked through gritted teeth.
“Leave! Get out of here!” Du Yu screamed relentlessly, feeling as if he were going mad.
You Si continued to back away, her expression conflicted.
She knew she truly could not help in any way. If there was to be any turn for the better… it could only happen once Time accustomed himself to the pain.
With that in mind, she cast a worried glance at Time before slowly departing.
From then on, she went to the Cave of Time every few days to check on Time.
And yet, he remained on the ground, wailing, completely unable to stand.
Gradually, You Si’s visits changed from once every few days to once every few months, and eventually, to once every few years.
This was because she found that Time had not changed at all; he simply screamed and rolled on the ground endlessly.
Had it been any other Immortal Being, they would have been dead by now.
But Time was not.
Was immortality truly a blessing, or was it a curse?
A full seventy years passed.
Only then did Du Yu’s screams gradually begin to quiet down.
But he was still in pain, and his limbs remained completely out of his control.
Due to his prolonged screaming, his throat constantly coughed up blood. However, the moment the blood touched the scorching flames, it instantly vaporized into clouds of bloody mist, choking him and causing him to cough even more.
His brain frantically secreted an unimaginable amount of endorphins to resist the pain, to the point where he could not think at all, nor could he control his limbs.
A full two hundred years passed.
Du Yu stopped screaming; he could finally endure the pain.
He could move his limbs slightly, but whenever he shifted even a little, the flames all over his body would flare up and merge together, forming an even more massive web of fire. Trying to stand up and walk again was a monumental challenge for him.
A full four hundred years passed.
Du Yu’s mind finally became clear.
It was as if his brain had accepted this pain as the new normal, finally allowing him to spare some thought to control other things.
He could lie on the ground and subtly move his limbs, and he could endure even more intense waves of pain.
Yet, to actually stand up and walk… he did not know how much longer that would take.
The seven-hundredth year.
Du Yu could finally sit up, but he could not lower his guard for even a single moment.
His entire consciousness had to be dedicated to resisting the pain.
If he relaxed even slightly, a tidal wave of agony would crash into him, forcing him back to the ground.
Yet, thanks to this immense pain, Du Yu actually felt exceptionally calm.
He was no longer frantic.
He understood what he wanted and knew what he had to do.
Once he could stand up, he was going to make sense of everything in front of him.
An unknown amount of time later, when You Si once again arrived at the Cave of Time, she found a man standing inside. He was entirely crimson, radiating a dazzling light.
His body took on the form of translucent, liquefied fire, continuously shooting out tongues of flame.
Like a sun, he illuminated every dark corner of this place.
Just stepping a little closer brought waves of a scorching, burning smell and incredibly blistering heat.
“You… you can stand up?” You Si asked in disbelief.
But Du Yu, standing there, said nothing. He stared blankly at the back of the chair.
“What’s wrong with you…?”
Du Yu slowly turned his head, revealing pupils blazing with brilliant fire.
With a face full of despair, he asked, “What exactly is going on…?”
“Going on?” You Si was somewhat puzzled. “Did something happen?”
Seeing the characters carved into the back of the chair, Du Yu felt his mind slipping out of control once again.
A wave of intense pain struck anew.
He let out a tortured scream and swung his hand fiercely.
Two massive whips of fire lashed out from his hands, viciously whipping against the stone walls on both sides.
Immediately after, he roared again, releasing a wave of pure energy.
“Oh no… It seems he absorbed too much fire-attribute Spiritual Energy…”
You Si hurriedly conjured a protective shield to block the oncoming assault.
In just a brief moment, the entire Cave of Time began to burn ferociously.
Fortunately, the structure of this cave was extremely unique. The entire stone wall continuously regenerated, swallowing the flames.
“Time! Are you trying to destroy this place?!”
Hearing these words, Du Yu gradually regained his senses and began to put all his effort into resisting the waves of pain.
He could not destroy this place. He at least needed to figure out the meaning of the words on the chair.
Du Yu took stiff steps forward, one by one. Then, he stretched out his glowing red arm and pointed at the back of the chair.
Carved impressively into the surface in traditional Chinese characters were the words:
“Respectfully Dedicated by the Shiranui Family!”
