Legend Management Bureau Chapter 469
Enenra extra the shiranui family[ … words ]
[ … words ]
When Jin Jianglang returned to the Abandoned Temple, Shiranui Asuka was waiting for him at the entrance, puffing her cheeks in anger while clutching a paper fan.
“Little Xiang?”
Asuka marched over with her paper fan in hand and shouted, “Brother Jinjianglang! Tell me, why did it take you so long to get some medicine?! Thank goodness Sister Blind Princess has a strong constitution, or everything would have been delayed! Come here!!”
Jin Jianglang gulped slightly at the sight of the paper fan in Little Xiang’s hand. “Little Xiang, step outside for a moment. I have something to tell you.”
“Something to tell me?”
Jin Jianglang pulled Little Xiang further away, draped his clothes over her shoulders, and recounted everything he had just seen and heard, not missing a single word.
By the time Asuka finished listening, she was already sobbing, her face a mess of tears and snot.
She wiped her nose with her hand and tugged at Jin Jianglang’s clothes. “Brother, we absolutely have to protect Sister Enenra…”
“Hey, Little Xiang, don’t wipe your snot on my clothes…”
“Slaughter the Tsuchimikado Family…” Jin Jianglang sighed softly. “Little Xiang, is this the best idea you could come up with? As much as I hate to admit it, according to the law, the Tsuchimikado Family didn’t do anything wrong. We have no grounds to start a war.”
“Then what do you propose we do…” Asuka continued to rub her snot all over Jin Jianglang’s outfit.
“Would I be asking you if I knew?” Jin Jianglang pushed Asuka away while shaking his head. “I wanted to ask if you had any ideas simply because you deal with Yokai so much…”
“A plan…” Asuka pondered for a moment before something suddenly clicked.
No longer holding back, she grabbed Jin Jianglang’s clothes, wiped them haphazardly across her face, and declared, “I’ve got it!”
Jin Jianglang looked at his completely ruined robe and asked helplessly, “G-got what?”
“I have a plan, Brother!
“
“Really?”
“Mhm!” Asuka nodded vigorously. “Brother, you said that the thing Sister Enenra wants to do most is enter the Shiranui Family and become an Onmyoji, right?”
“That’s right.”
“Then we’ll just let her enter the ‘Shiranui’ Family!”
“Huh?” Jin Jianglang was stunned. “Little Xiang… are you joking with me?”
…
Deep in the forest, within Shuten Doji’s lair.
“Sister Little Xiang, is this really the ‘Shiranui’ Family?” Enenra asked cautiously, her form wavering with smoke. “I’m so nervous…”
“Don’t be nervous, don’t be nervous, everyone here is incredibly nice!” Asuka constantly waved the paper fan in her hand, directing the various “actors” into position. Right now, that paper fan was the symbol of absolute authority; even Ootengu would be terrified at the sight of it.
Atop a massive skeletal stone throne, Shuten Doji was flipping through the “script” in his hands. Wearing a deeply troubled expression, he continuously whispered to Ootengu beside him, “What character is this?”
“Are you an idiot?” Ootengu whispered back. “Get out of the way and let me be the boss.”
“Shut up! I’ll kill you!” Shuten cursed in a low voice.
A one-armed Yokai nearby also frowned. “I think Ootengu is right. You’re too stupid; I should take that seat.”
“What…” Shuten was on the verge of losing his mind with rage. “Ibaraki! Are you, a newcomer, trying to usurp the throne too? How am I supposed to be the boss like this?”
“If you can’t be the boss, then step down and let me sit there.”
Jin Jianglang watched the scene unfold with a bitter smile. Truly, no one could have ever expected things to escalate to this point.
The vast majority of the most powerful Yokai from the Night Parade of One Hundred Demons were gathered here. Under the leadership of Shuten Doji and Little Xiang, they were
masquerading as the entire “Shiranui” Family.
Among them were Ibaraki Doji, the “Demon of Rashomon” whom Jin Jianglang had encountered a couple of days ago, and Yamabiko, the “Flying Bird of the Mountains.”
The two of them appeared to have quite a few injuries, seemingly having been “politely persuaded” into surrendering by Shuten Doji.
Seeing Little Xiang, Sister Blind Princess, and Jin Jianglang slowly approaching from a distance, the Yokai on the high platform grew incredibly tense.
“They’re coming, they’re coming, they’re coming…” Shuten Doji stammered. “What do I do?”
“Read your lines!” Ootengu smacked Shuten on the back of his head. “Idiot, didn’t Little Xiang write everything down for you?”
“I haven’t used kanji in so long, I can hardly understand it!” Shuten hurriedly picked up the script and pointed at the very first character of the very first line. “What’s this character?”
Ootengu never expected that Shuten Doji wouldn’t even recognize the character for “I.” It seemed they were doomed.
Asuka and Jin Jianglang supported Enenra as they arrived at the center of the cavern.
“G-greetings, Patriarch…” Jin Jianglang said.
Thick smoke billowed from Enenra’s body as she quickly chimed in, “This lowly girl greets the Patriarch…”
Ootengu hurriedly jabbed Shuten, who finally snapped out of his daze and declared, “That’s right, I’m ‘Shiranui Kyugo’!”
Jin Jianglang froze, quickly mouthing the words, “It’s ‘I am Shiranui Kyugo’! Can’t you read?”
“So annoying…” Shuten could only swallow his anger and say, “Shiranui Little Dog, offer them seats.”
Ootengu, who was currently moving chairs for them, suddenly felt indignant upon hearing this. He turned his head and mouthed back, “Little Dog? Get down here and duel me one-on-one, you bastard!”
“You think I won’t?” Shuten mouthed in return.
Seeing their antics, Asuka slowly pulled a red card from her pocket, which read: “Spanked until red.”
Only then did the crowd
turn serious, hurriedly bringing chairs over for them.
“Tell me, what does a little girl like you want with me… want with I… want with Shiranui Kyugo?”
“I…” Enenra paused for a moment before saying, “I want to enter the Shiranui Family and become an Onmyoji.”
“No problem. Anything else?” Shuten asked.
“No problem…?”
Before Shuten could say another word, a paper fan flew straight into his face.
Shuten Doji never expected to take a paper fan to the face in his own lair, failing to even attempt a dodge.
“Ouch…” He grunted in pain. Looking up, he saw Asuka baring her teeth and fiercely mouthing the words, “Assessment Trial.”
“Ah, right!” Shuten exclaimed. “Do you think just any wild—any little girl like you can become an ‘Onmyoji’ just because she wants to? We require an Assessment Trial.”
“An Assessment Trial…” Enenra furrowed her brows. “May I ask if the Assessment Trial is difficult?”
“Not difficult at all,” Shuten replied. “There are four items. Bring me any one of them, and you will become an Onmyoji under my command. They are Kiku-Masamune Sake…”
Upon hearing this, Asuka revealed a subtle smile and said to Enenra, “Sister Blind Princess, wait here for a moment. The Patriarch has some dirt on his face; I’m going to go wipe it off for him.”
“Ah! Crap, crap, crap!” Ootengu hurriedly whispered. “Little Xiang is mad! Stick to the script!”
Shuten Doji was clearly frightened as well, but he genuinely couldn’t read the script. He could only clear his throat and announce, “Ahem! I was just joking earlier. Shiranui Yuki-onna, I’ll let you explain the rules of the Assessment Trial!”
Yuki-onna was quietly building a snowman off to the side, never expecting disaster to suddenly strike her from out of nowhere.
She didn’t even have a script, so how could she possibly know the rules?
“Me?” She froze for a moment before saying, “T-this… I guess… No, I remember… well, it’s basically killing Yokai, right?”
