“WE’RE inside Yumi’s memories.”

Tilly nodded in agreement with Kiho’s conclusion.

After they met the young Yumi earlier, they secretly followed her while observing their surroundings.

For some reason, other people couldn’t see them.

[It’s probably because we’re just inside a memory.]

“But how did we end up here?” Kiho wondered out loud, obviously worried. “This isn’t the time for us to be stuck in a different dimension while our children are in danger.”

She understood her husband’s concern.

Tilly held Kiho’s hand to help him calm down. “Honey, let’s talk to Yumi.”

She then pulled her husband in order to catch up with Yumi who was walking really fast.

To be honest, she couldn’t believe that the person she bumped into was her mother-in-law.

[She looks so different. I mean, obviously, her face is the same. But her vibes changed. She looks innocent and refreshing?]

“Yumi,” Tilly said when Yumi stopped in front of a fruit stall. “Hey…”

She tried to gently pat Yumi’s shoulder, but much to her shock, her hand just passed through her mother-in-law’s body.

Huh?

“What happened, Tilly?” Kiho asked, surprised. “Your hand…?”

“Yes, I’m also shocked,” Tilly said, nodding. “How did this happen when I just bumped into her shoulder earlier?”

Was it because it was the time they were dropped into that dimension?

“Saintess, I finally found you.”

Wait, what?

Tilly was surprised when a man with a monocle wearing a simple black hood approached Yumi and called her by a surprising name.

It was only a whisper.

But since Tilly and Kiho were standing next to Yumi, they heard the man clearly.

“Honey, did I hear it right?” Tilly asked Kiho. “Did that man just call your mother…”

“A saintess,” Kiho said, finishing her sentence for her, while nodding. “I heard him call my mother a ’saintess,’ too, honey.”

“Let’s go back, Saintess Yumi,” the man whispered. “The children are waiting.”

Yumi smiled at the man and nodded. “I understand, Father Cesar.

Oh.

[That man is a priest?]

***

TILLY and Kiho didn’t have to follow Yumi.

They just blinked, and then they suddenly found themselves in the backyard of an orphanage.

Yumi was there with other nuns and priests who were distributing food in an orphanage.

“That pendant,” Tilly said while pointing at the necklaces that the nuns and the priests were wearing. “Isn’t that the symbol of the Moon God?”

Kiho, who was standing next to her, nodded. “Yes. That’s also the symbol that Luna used to carry when she was still the Moon Priestess. But during Luna’s time, the followers of the Moon God have decreased a lot already.”

“The Moonchester Empire hasn’t been established yet,” she said while observing the kids lining up to get a warm meal. “And it seems like this timeline happened before your father created the little moons.”

“I think so, too,” her husband said, his gaze focused on his mother’s baby bump. “I can tell that I’m the child in Yumi’s belly.”

“But is a Moon Saintess different from a Moon Priestess?” Tilly wondered out loud. “As far as I know, a Moon Priestess can’t get pregnant. Is it not the same for a Moon Saintess?”

“My father is the one who got my mother pregnant,” Kiho said. “Perhaps the Moon Saintess is the woman chosen to give birth to the Moon God’s child?”

***

TILLY AND Kiho’s question was soon answered when the “scenery” changed again.

This time, they found themselves in a praying room.

Yumi was kneeling in front of the Moon God’s statue, her hands clasped together and her eyes shut while she was praying.

It was only Yumi in that praying room, though.

“Ah. I finally realized what’s different from this Yumi, honey,” Tilly said, clapping her hands. “This Yumi is a human being and not a god.”

The Yumi that she knew was a deity, a divine snake.

“That’s what I’m wondering about as well,” Kiho agreed, nodding his head. “As far as I know, my mother is a deity.”

“Now I’m nervous,” she said, gulping. “Why do I feel like we’re going to find out the secret of your birth and it won’t be pretty?”

Her husband just nodded silently.

[Kiho looks nervous, too.]

Tilly held her husband’s hand. “Honey, I know what I’m about to say is really selfish and calloused. But no matter what we find out here, I still won’t forgive Yumi for what she had done to our family– to our children.”

“Of course, honey,” Kiho nodded. “Whatever we see in here wouldn’t change the fact that Yumi is a threat to our family. I won’t forgive her– I can’t.”

She was relieved to hear that.

It might be cruel of her to say that she wouldn’t forgive Yumi, but that was her honest thoughts.

[I will always choose my husband and my children above anyone else.]

“Yumi, did I make you wait?”

Woah.

The Moon God’s statue had come to life literally.

Kyro appeared, helping Yumi stand up carefully. Then he smiled and gently touched her baby bump. “I’m glad that you and our daughter are doing well, my dear.”

Tilly gasped, then she turned to her husband. “Kiho, you have a sister?”

“Not that I know of,” Kiho, who looked as shocked as her, said. “I thought I was an only child…”

Right?

“I’m sorry for making you wait, my dear.”

Yumi smiled and shook her head. “Please don’t apologize, my lord. I can wait for you no matter how long it takes.” She put her hands on her baby bump. “Because I know that you’ll always come back to us.”

Kyro’s smile suddenly turned sad. “I’m afraid I have to make you wait again.”

“Are you dispatched to another war again, my lord?”

“The Devil’s seal has cracked,” Kyro said, sighing. “I was chosen by the other gods to seal it this time, so I’ll probably return after you give birth to our daughter. I’m sorry, Yumi. I really wanted to be there for you during your delivery…”

“Please don’t apologize, my lord. I’m proud of you for keeping the world and the human race safe,” Yumi said, smiling. Then she hugged Kyro. “Just please return to us safely.”

Tilly and Kiho both flinched at the scene, both sensing the “death flag” in the air.

[Something bad will happen while Kyro is away, right?]

And then, she noticed that Captain Kiho gulped while staring at her mouth. [‘Ah, I’m not the only who’s hot and bothered here.’] She didn’t know if it was the alcohol in her system or her desperation to have a child… … but she suddenly felt like flirting with him. They were bound to get married and have a child together anyway. “Captain,” said Tilly as soon as she pulled the crab leg out of her mouth. “I can clearly see that we’re both attracted to each other. Shall we spend the night together?” Kiho remained pokerfaced but she saw panic cross his now glowing yellowish eyes. Ah, the captain was flustered. “My lady, you seem to be really drunk.” She walked towards him and when he didn’t move an inch, she stood in front of him and looked up at him with a grin. “Captain, are you the type of man who will only sleep with his betrothed?” “That seems to be the case, my lady.” He said that as if he was forcing the words out of his mouth. Plus, she could see in his eyes that he was conflicted– that it was hard for him to reject her. [‘Aw, I didn’t know that I have this kind of effect on my ex-husband.’] Or perhaps she just didn’t pay attention in the past. “Captain, I have a solution to your problem,” said Tilly in a playful voice. Then, she stood on her toes and whispered in Kiho’s ear. “Let’s get married.”
