My Glitched World Throne System Came Ten Years Too Early Chapter 118

’’DAMN IT!’’ the older knight cursed. ’’NOBODY MOVE!’’

His roar thundered through the streets.

Those who hadn’t been caught by any traps froze in place.

All around them, soldiers let out pained screams and cries as bear traps clamped around their legs.

But that was just the start.

Those who’d been caught quickly fell over.

Some of whom… landed directly onto more bear traps and caltrops.

CLANK! CLANK! CLANK!

’’AAAAAARGH!’’

Several lost arms, had another leg taken, or got their torsos crushed.

Three men had it particularly bad.

Two of their heads landed directly on top of bear traps.

SNAP! SNAP!

Both were crushed, their helmets not standing a chance.

Another landed directly on top of a caltrop, the spike penetrating straight through his eye into his skull.

The soldiers who’d remained on top of their horses watched on in horror.

Nobody dared to let their horses move, or even dismount them in general.

Several seconds ticked by in silence.

The older knight’s expression had drastically changed as he assessed the situation.

’This wasn’t done in a hurry,’ he thought, his gaze sweeping across the road.

Their comrades had been very clear.

Riverwood had been filled with ordinary civilians just yesterday!

Yet now, the entire place had seemingly transformed into a death trap overnight.

’To have all of this set up already… the enemy must still be nearby.’

The older knight’s eyes narrowed.

His gaze swept over the tops of the buildings.

’An advance force of their own perhaps?’ he thought. ’But Arthur wouldn’t fight this dirty…’

’’AAAAAARGH!’’

Another agonizing scream tore him away from his thoughts.

The knight glanced towards the heavily injured survivors bitterly.

There was no more time to think.

’’Third and fourth lines, watch the ground and drag the injured to safety!’’ he commanded. ’’EVERYONE ELSE, KEEP YOUR GUARD UP FOR SUDDEN ATTACKS!’’

’’Yes, sir!’’ dozens of soldiers immediately responded.

Those in the third and fourth lines carefully began dismounting their horses.

Every step they took was slow and measured.

Several One Seal Knights joined them, their eyes constantly scanning the ground for anything suspicious.

Step after step, they closed in on the injured.

Roderic watched on carefully, the smile fading from his face.

’I’m sorry,’ he thought, glancing back at the horses. ’There is no other way.’

Hidden throughout the village and forests, two dozen bows slowly rose.

Their arrows weren’t pointed towards the Deres soldiers or knights.

Instead, every single one aimed lower.

The first of the Deres soldiers now stood several feet away from the injured.

Some slowly began reaching out to the heavily injured.

TWANG! TWANG! TWANG!

’’ARROWS!’’

Shields immediately came up left and right.

Those standing near the injured had long been prepared for a sudden ambush.

Yet… nothing came.

Behind them was a whole different scene.

SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!

Dozens of arrows rained down into the backlines.

NEIGH!

The first horse collapsed, quickly followed by another and another.

’’THE HORSES!’’ a knight screamed, desperately slashing through an incoming arrow.

Panic instantly spread.

Horses jumped on their back legs left and right as arrows struck their bodies.

Several riders were thrown from their saddles, while others desperately pulled on their reins.

’’CONTROL THEM!’’

’’DON’T LET THEM MOVE!’’

But it was way too late for that.

Some horses fell over, bumping into others.

Others were scared by everything and began turning in the middle of their formation.

The chaos was only just starting though.

CLANK! CLANK! CLANK!

Those who’d been thrown off earlier landed on the side of the road.

Exactly where more traps were waiting.

SNAP! SNAP!

’’GGH!’’

One knight had barely hit the ground before a bear trap snapped shut around his thigh.

Another landed directly on several caltrops, the iron spikes punching through his armor.

SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!

Two dozen more arrows soared through the air.

This time, there was no specific target.

They simply rained down into the chaotic formation.

THUD! THUD!

Soldiers, knights and horses were struck alike.

The older knight knocked an incoming arrow aside.

’’SHIELDS UP! RETREAT IN FORMATION!’’ he roared.

The order quickly spread through the chaos.

Those still on horseback quickly began turning around, jumping over their comrades’ corpses if necessary.

The soldiers on foot quickly followed.

Some had their shields raised while desperately dragging their injured back with them.

Others abandoned the injured outright and sprinted back.

Even so, their entire retreat was… strangely organized.

No one broke away from the group, no one accidentally lowered their shields. Even those running followed the same route back.

Roderic watched with narrowed eyes.

’They recovered really quickly,’ he thought. ’These guys are good.’

His gaze briefly swept over the corpses they left behind.

At least forty of the original two hundred had been taken out of the fight, while he could easily spot another dozen or two running away with injuries.

’Definitely not ordinary soldiers.’

Roderic’s gaze shifted to the back of the formation.

Both the commanding Two Seal Knight and another knight were still there.

They covered the retreat, slashing through the occasional arrow heading their way with ease.

’Well then,’ Roderic thought, cracking his neck. ’It’s time.’

He put two fingers into his mouth right away.

FWEEEEET!

A piercing whistle rang throughout Riverwood.

Only a second passed before the door behind him flew open.

BANG!

Frederic rushed out first, followed closely by John, Peter and Paul.

At the same time, Roderic stepped out from behind the crates.

’’I’ll take the guy with the blue cape,’’ he shouted. ’’Frederic, John, take on the other Two Seal. Peter, Paul, clear out any knights heading for us!’’

The four nodded right away.

BOOM!

All five shot forward simultaneously.

The older knight noticed them almost instantly.

His eyes narrowed.

At this distance, there was no chance they could simply ride away without being caught from behind.

’’KEEP RETREATING!’’ he roared.

Without hesitation, he jumped from his horse.

The other Two Seal followed immediately.

’’GO!’’

Several One Seal Knights dismounted alongside them, drawing their weapons as Roderic and the others rapidly closed in.

Roderic grinned widely.

’Just the way we want it!’
