My Glitched World Throne System Came Ten Years Too Early Chapter 124
Saying no to death[ … words ]
[ … words ]
Roderic charged head-on into the horde of soldiers.
SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!
His hooked blades tore through one soldier after another.
Even without aura, his sheer physical strength was overwhelming.
Spears snapped in two, while swords were knocked straight back into their wielders.
In only a couple of minutes, he’d carved through twenty of them!
But… it wasn’t without injuries.
Slowly but surely, cuts started piling up all across his body.
Blood continued dripping from them, making the situation even worse.
Yet Roderic didn’t stop.
He simply couldn’t.
The soldiers surrounded him from every direction, attacking relentlessly.
SWISH!
Roderic sliced through another man’s armor.
’How… am I supposed to finish this?’ he thought. ’What’s… my plan?’
A rapidly approaching spear became visible in the corner of his eye.
Roderic twisted his head to the side.
But it was a second too late.
SHHHS!
The spear slid across his chin before slicing his ear off.
’’GKH!!’’
Roderic quickly grabbed the spear’s shaft and pulled it back.
The soldier responsible stumbled forward, completely losing his balance.
SWISH!
His blade slid across the man’s throat.
’Plan… plan… what’s my pla—’
Not even a second later, another spear came from the exact same direction.
Roderic reacted a tiny bit faster this time.
He spun the soldier’s spear around before jabbing it towards the new soldier.
SHLCK!
The spearhead plunged straight into the soldier’s mouth, bursting through the back of his head.
’’GURGHH!’’
Blood poured down the shaft as the man’s body went limp.
Roderic immediately released the spear, allowing the corpse to collapse.
’’Haa… Haa…’’ he breathed heavily. ’’This is… never-ending.’’
But there was no time to rest.
He turned around, dodging another sword.
SHLCK!
A spear suddenly pierced through Roderic’s calf from behind.
’’Fuck!’’ he cursed, spinning around.
SWISH!
His hooked blade tore through the spearman’s chest.
But as Roderic tried to step forward, a sharp pain shot through his injured leg.
’’KGH!’’
His knee nearly buckled.
’This… my leg,’ he thought, clenching his jaw. ’Fuck me!’
He quickly shifted his weight onto his other leg.
Then he continued his slaughtering.
SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!
One soldier collapsed after another beneath his blades.
Roderic had long lost count of how many he’d slain.
His movements were growing slower, and every step sent another wave of pain through his leg.
But he did not give up.
’Just… a little longer,’ he thought. ’It’s almost over.’
His eyes blurred for a moment.
Roderic quickly shook his head, stabbing his blade through another soldier’s head.
Gritting his teeth, he swung once more.
Another soldier’s spear snapped in half before the soldier lost his head.
CLANG!
Roderic blocked a sword with his other blade.
But he could barely feel his arms anymore.
’No…’
He took another step.
His injured leg nearly gave out beneath him.
’Not yet…’
Blood continued dripping from his wounds, leaving a trail behind him.
His breathing grew increasingly ragged.
Even the soldiers’ shouting was beginning to sound distant.
’’Haa… Haa…’’
’Why…’
Roderic swung his blade again.
SWISH!
Another soldier collapsed.
’Why can’t I—’
He tried to finish his thought.
But before he could, a flash of white light filled his vision.
For a brief moment, the battlefield disappeared.
And a memory Roderic knew far too well appeared in front of him.
A young boy with black hair stood in a dirty alley.
Ahead of him lay a malnourished man whose eyes had yellowed from years of drug use, with a kitchen knife still in his hand.
Slowly but surely, blood started leaking from a single hole in his chest.
’Fuck, fuck, fuck.’
Roderic glanced down.
In his tiny hands rested a single handgun, tiny trails of smoke still rising from its barrel.
’Was he part of a gang?’
’Whose customer was he again?’
’Did anyone see me?’
’What if the police find out?’
’What if his friends come looking for me?’
Question after question filled his mind.
But the reality had been completely different.
Nobody had come looking for him.
Not the police, nor any of the local gangs.
In fact, that corpse had remained in the filthy alley for an entire week!
And every day, he’d walked past it utterly terrified.
’What a fucking joke,’ he thought, almost wanting to laugh.
But it wasn’t exactly surprising.
He’d been fourteen at the time, and growing up in that neighborhood had taught him to be careful about every little thing.
One wrong decision could easily ruin his life.
Not that it had mattered in the end.
More and more memories flashed through Roderic’s mind.
’Wait…’ he thought slowly. ’Don’t tell me…’
’Is my life flashing before my eyes right now?’
For a moment, he could hardly believe it.
Years of his life inside the orphanage appeared.
Roderic slowly shook his head, still in utter disbelief.
’No, no, no,’ he thought. ’I’ve only just arrived in this world.’
There was still so much he wanted to do. So much he hadn’t gotten to experience.
And now he was about to die?
’No…’
The memories of his previous life kept coming.
’No, fuck that!’
Roderic gritted his teeth, forcing them all away.
’I’m not fucking dying here!’
CLANG!
The battlefield returned in front of him.
Roderic barely managed to knock aside an approaching sword.
’I’LL KILL EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU BASTARDS!’
SWISH!
His hooked blade tore through the soldier’s throat.
Another soldier immediately lunged at him with a spear.
Roderic twisted sideways, narrowly avoiding the spearhead before grabbing the shaft.
’’COME ON THEN!’’ he roared.
He yanked the soldier towards him and drove his other blade into the man’s chest.
SHLCK!
’’GUGH!’’
Roderic ripped his blade free, breathing heavily as he turned towards the remaining soldiers.
His leg was still killing him, and he could barely keep his blades raised.
But the anger burning inside kept him going.
SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!
With every slice, another enemy fell.
For the first time since the battle started, his thoughts completely faded away.
There were no worries in his mind, no plans being created… nothing.
He simply tightened his grip on his blades and continued charging towards the next enemy.
