The Broken Halo Chapter 206

Chapter 206: Instructor Emith

The moment Simon opened the door to the physical training class, he was surprised when he saw that on the other side of the door was actually another world.

It was not truly a world per say, but it was obvious that such a place could not be in the academy because there was no space in the academy for such a thing.

He was in a world where everything was red. The sky was red, the air was red, and the dry ground was red.

He could see some mountains and hills in the distance, but they too were red in colour.

Simon might have taken his time to observe the his world, but the booming voice of a woman shifted his attention to some of his classmates doing push ups with weights on their backs.

“Seriously?”

A second later, the loud voice came again.

“HEY! YOU! WHAT DO YOU YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING?!”

“WHY ARE YOU STOPPING AFTER ONLY DOING HUNDRED?!”

“I SAID A THOUSAND!”

“A THOUSAND!!!”

Simon had no choice but to cover his ears with his hands because the voice was so loud. It felt like his ears were right beside a loud speaker.

A few seconds later, everywhere was ’peaceful’ and ’quiet’… if Simon decided not to count the grumbling of his classmates as they pushed themselves from the ground while counting, then it was rather peaceful.

Simon shifted his gaze from his suffering classmates to the female Instructor who reminded him of a particular soldier that brutally trained him in his past life.

The female Instructor was a towering demon with bronze skin and two horns that were curved to the back.

She had huge muscles that could clearly crush the skull of three adult men, and around her wrists were thick and heavy black chains.

The female Instructor wore shorts that gave one a perfect view of the shape of her ass. She also wore a tank top that also gave one a nice view of her cleavage.

’A bronze horned giant.’

Simon instantly recognized her race, and he observed her with slightly narrowed eyes.

The female Instructor’s race was closely related with the captain of the mercenaries Zaglur the Daegrin hired and he devoured.

The Mercenary Captain was a Horned Giant, and this female instructor was a Bronze Horned Giant.

The female instructor was a unique race of the Horned Giant, and demons like her were usually amongst the elites of the Horned Giant race.

’The Shadowgrave Clan is truly a strange clan. It’s a clan of assassins that actually ruled by the Velaris, but they still choose to teach other races how to assassinate.’

’I wonder what their main goal is.’

Simon became slightly lost in his thoughts, and the female Instructor looked at him with a frown.

“Seen enough?”

Her voice was like thunder in his ears, and Simon looked at the female instructor.

He could not see her face because of the bronze Oni mask she was wearing, but he could see the displeasure in her gaze.

He bowed slightly and apologized.

“Sorry. I believe I entered the wrong class.”

Simon instantly changed his mind the moment he saw the state of his classmates.

Previously, he wanted to see how the physical training class was.

But now?

He had seen enough, and it triggered one of his memories which gave him sleepless night for months in his past life.

’I know maniacs like her. They loved putting people through pain, and they believed that as long as one feels pain and did not die immediately, they would leave and their bodies would develop.’

’No pain. No gain.’

’That’s the motto of maniacs like her.’

Simon already decided that his current physical strength was going to be enough to pass the exam in the future.

He also knew that the physical training might be beneficial for him in the future, he believed that he could use his own techniques to develop his body.

’And what I’m truly afraid of is this instructor realizing my true physical strength and then she’ll increase my training to really absurd levels.’

’I’ll go through so much hell if she ever finds out. That gaze, that aura, that military behavior. I know it all so well, and I’ll suffer so much under her.’

Simon quickly turned and was about to step out of the door, but his right eye twitched when he saw the female instructor standing right in front of him.

’Damn it. She’s so fast. I didn’t even sense anything through the wind despite her hulking body.’

Simon had a terrible premonition but he decided to be calm and respectful.

“Is there a problem, esteemed instructor?”

The female Instructor’s left eye twitched with disgust and anger when she heard Simon’s words.

“Anybody that enters my class, whether intentionally or unintentionally, shall not leave no matter what.”

“And none shall miss my class or they’ll suffer for it.”

’Damn it! I knew it! She’s just like that mad man in my past life!’

Simon’s lips twitched, and his expression became grave behind his mask.

“But instructor, I really have something important to do. I was looking for another building. It’s very urgent.”

The female instructor took a step toward him, and Simon took a step back with sweat dripping from his forehead.

“Didn’t you hear what I said? None shall leave the moment they enter my class, whether intentionally or unintentionally.”

Simon began to excrete more sweat. He had to take a gamble.

“I was meant to meet another Instructor. I truly got lost.”

The female instructor scoffed. “Then you can tell the instructor after my class that Instructor Emith prevented you from leaving her class.”

“No lecturer shall punish you once they hear that. Not even the academy head would punish you once he hears that.”

Simon’s expression became more and more ugly the more he heard.

’Damn it! She might just be worse than that bastard!’

Instructor Emith folded her arms and stopped walking. Her cold bronze eyes stared straight into Simon’s sky blue eyes.

“Complete thirty laps in thirty minutes around that mountain over there or I punish you.”

Simon’s expression became dark and extremely ugly the moment he heard this. The urge to run was extremely strong in his heart, but he knew that doing so would make his situation a lot worse.

“Why are you standing? I’ve started timing you.”

Without hesitation, Simon ran while cursing Instructor Emith in his heart and mind.

‘How cliché. I’ve read countless novels where the Hero is betrayed by their companions… but was I wrong to trust those who fought beside me for nearly six decades?’ ----- Betrayal. A word many live in fear of. A word some never expect… until it happens. A word that completely shatters one’s view of life. Just like any other heroic tale, Simon was the Hero of Earth, the one who defeated the Demon King and was about to end the war between races with his companions. Yet, in the end, he was betrayed by his own companions for reasons he never understood. Instead of finding death, Simon found rebirth. To his horror, he reincarnated as the very race he had devoted his entire life to exterminating… a race he despised, feared, and was disgusted by. Reborn as a demon infant within one of the most impoverished demon tribes, Simon found himself at the very bottom of a world he once sought to destroy. Fortunately, he was not entirely abandoned. His unique Seven Star Blessing, bestowed by his patron God, followed him through reincarnation. Armed with this Blessing and the Demonic Magic of his new race, Simon now harbors an ambition greater than ever before… to rise higher than he ever did as the Hero of Earth. To become a God. But the path forward is far from simple. Betrayals from those he would never expect. Endless trials and tribulations. And the lingering question of identity… Should he cling to his past as a human hero, or embrace his nature as a demon to survive? Can Simon abandon his hatred and live among demons? Will he erase his past entirely and fully embrace his demonic nature? Will his thirst for revenge drag him deeper into darkness… Or will he rise above it? In the end… Will he be devoured… or will he devour all?
