The Broken Halo Chapter 241

Chapter 241: You Don’t Have To Help Me

’The Abyss?’

Simon narrowed his eyes at this unfamiliar organization.

He had never heard of an organization called The Abyss, and he was very curious about it.

He decided to ask Lilith.

“Do you know about The Abyss?”

Lilith shrugged. “Not really. But I can guess what it’s about.”

“And what is it about?”

Lilith’s lips curled into a teasing smile.

“Why don’t you try and figure it out yourself.”

Simon did not mind her response. If she was not present, wouldn’t he have found a way to find the answer himself?

Besides, she had helped him a lot by showing him the existence of the Lie Eater.

’And I prefer to rely only on myself and not on any other person.’

Simon’s eyes flashed with a strange light.

Only three seconds had passed after Merath revealed the existence of The Abyss, and…

“Merath!!!”

“Why would you expose the existence of The Abyss to him?! To this lesser hybrid?!”

Jorra instantly exploded the moment Merath revealed the existence of The Abyss.

It was something he did not expect Merath to do, and he was extremely baffled by her decision to do so.

Merath calmly shifted her gaze to the fuming Jorra.

“Do you have a problem with me doing so?” She said with an indifferent expression, and Jorra gritted his teeth in anger.

“You’re being foolish. The Abyss should not be known by just anybody. Especially inferior beings like him!”

Jorra growled while pointing at Simon. Simon indifferently glanced at the finger.

Merath indifferently rolled her eyes. “He’s not as inferior as you’re making it to seem. We’ve both been watching him, and you know that he’s a monster when it comes to his control over demonic energy and his battle instincts… Besides, he already knows about the existence of Daemons. It’s only a matter of time before he knows about The Abyss.”

Jorra clenched his fists in anger, and he spoke with a deep frown.

“The elders would not let this go.”

Merath’s eyes flickered with a bit of uncertainty, but she eventually shook her head, her lips curling into a light smile of confidence.

“As long as they see his talent, they won’t reprimand him.”

Jorra scoffed and looked at Simon with disdain. “A talented demon is still a useless demon. You know that as much as I do.”

Merath nodded. “True… But what if he’s no longer a demon but a full fledged Daemon.”

Jorra’s eyes widened in disbelief. “What do you plan on doing, Merath?”

Merath’s eyes flashed with a tinge of madness as she stared at Simon like a piece of jewelry. “Making him a complete Daemon.”

Jorra was completely stunned. “You fool! Do you know how much resources you’ll have to use just to do that? It’ll affect your future!”

Merath nonchalantly shrugged. “We’ll see, wouldn’t we?”

Jorra stared at Merath in silence, then a few seconds later, he released an exhausted and frustrated sigh.

“Do you desire him that much? Is that why you’re willing to do such a foolish thing?”

Merath chuckled softly. “Maybe.”

Jorra released another exhausted sigh, then he glared at Simon.

“I’m sure a lesser hybrid like you has no idea the god given opportunity that is being given to you. You should be worshipping her feet all the time.”

Simon indifferently raised a brow.

What was this child saying?

He had not even said anything yet.

They had just assumed that he would go with everything they said, and how would he allow such a thing to happen?

“Stop saying such things, Jorra. It’s still not certain that he’ll successfully becomes a Daemon… And I might be stopped from helping him.”

Jorra scoffed and folded his arms. “The chances of that happening is low.”

Merath’s lips curled up slightly behind his mask, then she looked at Simon.

“I’m sure you have questions?”

Simon raised his brows in amusement.

’You guys have been talking about me like I’m not here. Why wouldn’t I have questions.’

Simon calmly shifted his gaze from Merath to Jorra, then back to Merath.

He asked the first question.

“What is the Abyss all about?”

Jorra scoffed, and Merath shook her head.

“All I can tell you about The Abyss is that an organization for Daemons. We only accept full fledged demons or demons that have awakened their bloodline to an acceptable degree like Thorgan.”

“Hmm.” Simon looked down with a thoughtful expression.

’If it’s an organization that’s only meant for Daemons, then their numbers must be few.’

’Do they have a system to measure how much a demon has awakened their Daemon bloodline?’

Although Simon was curious about their ranking system, he decided not to ask since it was not actually important.

At the end of the day, he’d awaken his Daemon bloodlines completely. A higher partial awakening did not matter to him.

He decided to focus on another question instead.

“So, until I become a true Daemon, I won’t be able to officially join The Abyss?”

Merath nodded. “Exactly.”

Simon nodded slightly. “And, you want to help me become a True Daemon?”

Merath nodded again. “Yes.”

Simon tilted his head slightly. “How?”

Jorra scoffed in disgust and annoyance once again, but Merath answered him calmly.

“I can’t tell you how exactly, but since you’ve already awakened a portion of your Daemon bloodline, then we’ll just have to fully awaken it. It’s that simple.”

Simon’s lips could not help but twitch.

’Isn’t she just saying that she’ll fully awaken my Sky Tiger Bloodline without telling me how?’

He had the urge to point this out, but he decided to leave it. He had something that was more important to ask.”

“And what about my other bloodline? Can you evolve it to a Daemon bloodline?”

Merath shook her head. “Unfortunately, we’ll have no choice but to discard it. Evolving a demon bloodline into a Daemon bloodline costs more than fully awakening a partially awakened Daemon bloodline.”

Without hesitation, Simon shook his head. “Then I’m sorry to say, but I don’t want that. You don’t have to help me if it’s like that.”

Merath and Jorra froze.

‘How cliché. I’ve read countless novels where the Hero is betrayed by their companions… but was I wrong to trust those who fought beside me for nearly six decades?’ ----- Betrayal. A word many live in fear of. A word some never expect… until it happens. A word that completely shatters one’s view of life. Just like any other heroic tale, Simon was the Hero of Earth, the one who defeated the Demon King and was about to end the war between races with his companions. In the end… Will he be devoured… or will he devour all?
