The Broken Halo Chapter 449

Chapter 449: Poison For The Eyes

The events that happened next was something Brama would never forget in his life.

After disarming Brama of his weapon, Simon let go of his hand and Brama tried to fight back.

He didn’t want to give up, and his desire to live made him to get out of his stunned state and launch a counter attack.

Even though he was a slave, he was an Initiate like Simon, and for a slave to become an Initiate, that meant he had talent.

And his quick response showcased his talent.

He swung his elbow at Simon’s waist and his scorpion tail struck at Simon from above.

However, how could he catch Simon off guard?

Simon already expected this, and he reacted in kind.

His free hand glowed with a dark emerald-orange light, then he backhanded the scorpion tail, causing it to crash into the wall.

Bang!

Pieces of the wall fell on the ground, and Brama could not help but grit his teeth due to the pain of Simon’s strike.

However, his elbow hit Simon’s waist.

Bam

But it felt like he hit a wall and not flesh.

“Fuck!”

He cursed as he felt the bones in his elbow nearly shatter, and the reason for this is because Simon coated his waist with thick demonic energy and his body was far more durable than Brama’s Prime Archfiend body.

Before Brama could react, Simon pushed him and he fell face flat to the ground.

“Damn it.”

He cursed, but in the next moment, a heavy kick hit his stomach causing him to roll and lay on his back.

He held his stomach in pain and groaned.

“For a slave, you’re pretty much stubborn. Only if you had the courage to fight your masters this way.”

He looked up, and he saw Simon crouching before him.

He wanted to speak, but he suddenly saw a vial containing a red liquid.

He frowned.

For some reason, he had a terrible premonition about the liquid.

“What is that?” He asked.

“Oh, this?” Simon glanced at the vial, then he shrugged. “It’s poison.”

Brama’s eyes widened in shock and realization, and he suddenly recalled how Simon had used poison to take control of the Iron Fangs.

Was the poison he used?

Brama covered his mouth with his hands, then he started backing away from Simon with his legs.

To Simon, he looked… quite pathetic.

Simon chuckled, then he stretched out his hand, grabbed his robe and pulled him closer.

Brama shook his head repeatedly and with fear in his eyes.

Muffled sounds of him saying- “No. No. No.”- repeatedly was released from his covered mouth.

Simon smiled beneath his mask.

“Funny enough, for this poison to work, I actually don’t need to make you drink it.”

He uncorked the vial, and Brama’s eyes were filled with confusion.

Simon grinned beneath his mask, and without saying a single word, he placed his hand on top of Brama’s hands, covering his mouth further.

Brama was confused, but in the next moment, his eyes could not help but widen in shock as Simon poured the poison on his eyes.

I only need your eyes.

Brama closed his eyes and made muffled sounds mainly due to the fear he felt, but a few seconds later, he calmed down when he realized that he was actually not feeling any pain at all.

It was only the burning sensation one would have when a liquid enters one’s eyes.

Eventually, Simon stopped as he poured the last of the poison.

He transferred the vial back into his spatial ring, but he didn’t remove his hand from Brama’s hands.

Brama’s eyes fluttered open, and he looked at Simon in confusion.

His vision was blurry but he could still see Simon.

“Just give it about six seconds… maybe three though.” Simon said with a slight nonchalant shake of his head and shoulders.

Brama was confused, but just as Simon said, three seconds later, he began to feel a change in his eyes.

At first, it started as a slight itch in his eyes, at the corner of his eyes, and even his eyelids.

Because Simon was holding his hands, he could not scratch it, so he blinked repeatedly, hoping the itch would go away with just that.

But it didn’t.

In fact, it got worse.

“Hmm!”

Brama repeatedly blinked as the itching got worse. He tried to use his hands, but Simon did not let him.

“Hmm! Hmmm! Hmm! Hmmmmm!!!!!”

From soft and calm muffled sounds, it became loud muffled sounds.

Brama shook his head, kicked his legs, twisted his body, and even tried swinging his tail at Simon, but Simon did not allow him to use his hands.

The tail he swung was punched with so much force that it nearly shattered, but the pain Brama felt from the near shattering of his tail was nothing compared to what he was feeling in his eyes.

“From a slight itch, to a terrible itch, then to feeling slight heat in your eyes, then it becomes so hot to the point that it feels like a red hot iron has been dipped inside your eyes and around your eyes.”

“It’s not my first time seeing its effects, but she’s as cruel as ever.”

Simon looked at the trembling Brama whose body was twisting and moving in ways that should not be moved.

’I wonder how she would feel and what she would think if she sees that I’m now a demon… Probably disappointment though.’

While Simon had these thoughts, Brama was begging death to take him away.

He could not even process what Simon said because the pain he was feeling was so much.

If Simon was not holding his hands, he would have clawed out his eyes with his two hands to relieve himself of this pain.

And this was one of the reasons why Simon held his hand.

Unfortunately for Brama, even if he removed his eyes, the pain would only drastically reduce but it would never go completely.

The Poison Empress was extremely cruel to demons, and seeing demons suffer made her feel… fulfilled.

‘How cliché. I’ve read countless novels where the Hero is betrayed by their companions… but was I wrong to trust those who fought beside me for nearly six decades?’ ----- Betrayal. A word many live in fear of. A word some never expect… until it happens. A word that completely shatters one’s view of life. Just like any other heroic tale, Simon was the Hero of Earth, the one who defeated the Demon King and was about to end the war between races with his companions. Yet, in the end, he was betrayed by his own companions for reasons he never understood. Instead of finding death, Simon found rebirth. To his horror, he reincarnated as the very race he had devoted his entire life to exterminating… a race he despised, feared, and was disgusted by. Reborn as a demon infant within one of the most impoverished demon tribes, Simon found himself at the very bottom of a world he once sought to destroy. Fortunately, he was not entirely abandoned. His unique Seven Star Blessing, bestowed by his patron God, followed him through reincarnation. Armed with this Blessing and the Demonic Magic of his new race, Simon now harbors an ambition greater than ever before… to rise higher than he ever did as the Hero of Earth. To become a God. But the path forward is far from simple. Betrayals from those he would never expect. Endless trials and tribulations. And the lingering question of identity… Should he cling to his past as a human hero, or embrace his nature as a demon to survive? Can Simon abandon his hatred and live among demons? Will he erase his past entirely and fully embrace his demonic nature? Will his thirst for revenge drag him deeper into darkness… Or will he rise above it? In the end… Will he be devoured… or will he devour all?
