The Broken Halo Chapter 532

Chapter 532: Elder Xyron

Simon was familiar with the auras of the two demons he was perceiving.

They were Inquisitors.

The two Inquisitors that brought him to his cell after the appearance of Black Midnight.

Simon’s eyes flashed with a calculating glint, then he brought out an item from his spatial ring before hiding his spatial ring in his boots like before.

The item in Simon’s hand was a bracelet.

The bracelet was an artifact that could suppress a demon’s aura and demonic energy by two grades.

Simon quickly wore the artifact close to his elbow, using his long shirt to hide it.

He activated the artifact by sending his demonic energy into it, then he felt his aura and demonic energy being suppressed by the artifact.

He could fight the suppression and actually prevent it from suppressing him, but he chose not to for very obvious reasons.

Eventually, his aura and demonic energy was suppressed to the level of a Superior Fiend.

What the artifact did was not to hide his aura.

No.

Black Midnight and the Soul Mirror Demon might be able to see through such things because they were Demon Lords.

Unless Simon deactivated the artifact or broke free of the suppression by force, he would not be able to use his chaos or the demonic energy of an Archfiend.

But this was what Simon wanted since he had to hide his breakthrough.

About ten seconds later, the Inquisitors arrived at his cell.

They looked at him from top to bottom, and one could not help but comment.

“Your clothes are wet. Don’t tell me you’ve been trembling in fear all this while?”

Simon looked at the Inquisitor without giving a response.

The Inquisitor sneered, then his partner spoke.

“Is it just me, or is his hair longer than before?”

Simon’s eyes flickered for a moment, but he remained calm.

The Inquisitor who spoke earlier tilted his head, then he nodded with a slightly suspicious gaze behind his mask.

“You’re right. His hair is longer and… it’s whiter than before. Only if he could grow a pair of balls like he did for his hair.”

Unlike the first Inquisitor who didn’t think much of Simon’s sudden hair growth, the second Inquisitor who noticed the anomaly frowned.

However, he eventually let it slide.

He would have loved to interrogate Simon about his hair, but they didn’t have the time.

They had been told by Lord Black Midnight that Simon should be brought to him.

If they wasted too much time, the Grave Lord could become angry and he didn’t want that.

“Get out. We’re going to meet the Grave Lord.”

The doors to Simon’s cell opened as the Inquisitor said these words.

Simon looked at the two Inquisitors for a moment before stepping out calmly.

One of the Inquisitors placed chains around his wrists, further restricting Simon’s demonic energy.

“Move.” The Inquisitor said coldly.

Simon complied without any fuss.

He walked in between both Inquisitors, and there was a tense and uncomfortable silence between the trio.

Some minutes later, Simon was brought to a room he could not forget.

To be more precise, it was a hall.

The hall where the same elder nearly killed him by extracting his blood essence.

The moment he was brought into the hall, his eyes landed on the six crimson pillars that formed a hexagon and the black pillar with chains around it.

Simon’s flickered when he saw this.

His eyes then moved to two demons that were standing before close to the black pillar.

The first was Black Midnight.

And the second was a demon that was a little bit shorter than Simon.

The demon was slender, and his body was formed from a black crystal and silver glass. Instead of a face, the demon possessed a flawless oval mirror where its head should have been.

When the demon looked at Simon, he saw his reflection in the mirror, then his reflection in the mirror changed.

Countless faint and indistinguishable silhouettes moved beneath the mirror’s surface, appearing and disappearing every second.

This was a Soul Mirror Demon, an elder of the Soul Mirror Demon Clan.

And merely looking at the creature created a disturbing sensation that something deep within Simon’s soul was being observed.

’Hmm… This is bad. He’s a Half-Step Demon Lord. He’s strong.’

’I might have no other choice than to…’

Before Simon could complete his thoughts, the Soul Mirror Demon looked at Black Midnight.

“Is he the one?”

The voice of the Soul Mirror Demon was like a dozen voices speaking at the same time. It was a combination of both male and female, young and old.

It was extremely… disturbing and irritating to listen to.

Black Midnight nodded at the elder’s question, but Simon could see a flicker of irritation in the eyes of the Grave Lord.

“Leave his chains around his wrists, then leave.” Black Midnight said while waving his hand gently at the two Inquisitors.

The Inquisitors bowed, then they left without saying a word.

A few seconds after they left, the Grave Lord looked at the Soul Mirror Demon and spoke.

“You may begin, Elder Xyron.”

However, Elder Xyron did not take a step forward. He hummed softly while staring at Simon.

“His soul is damaged.”

Black Midnight was not surprised by Xyron’s words.

He nodded slightly. “Yes. We used a soul eating centipede on him. The damage should not be too severe though. The Night Sovereign has taken control of the soul eating centipede.”

“… Is that so?” Elder Xyron said with a strange tone, causing the Grave Lord to frown with a displeased expression.

“Are you here to talk? Or to do what we paid you to do?”

Elder Xyron chuckled softly, causing Simon and Black Midnight to frown in irritation.

The elder’s voice was truly terrible.

Elder Xyron did not mind their reaction.

He took a step forward, then he suddenly appeared in front of Simon.

Simon feigned a stunned expression, causing the elder to chuckle.

“So, boy. Where is the Devourer’s blood essence?”

The moment Elder Xyron asked this question, the scenes on the mirror began to change.

‘How cliché. I’ve read countless novels where the Hero is betrayed by their companions… but was I wrong to trust those who fought beside me for nearly six decades?’ ----- Betrayal. A word many live in fear of. A word some never expect… until it happens. A word that completely shatters one’s view of life. Just like any other heroic tale, Simon was the Hero of Earth, the one who defeated the Demon King and was about to end the war between races with his companions. Yet, in the end, he was betrayed by his own companions for reasons he never understood. Instead of finding death, Simon found rebirth. To his horror, he reincarnated as the very race he had devoted his entire life to exterminating… a race he despised, feared, and was disgusted by. Reborn as a demon infant within one of the most impoverished demon tribes, Simon found himself at the very bottom of a world he once sought to destroy. Fortunately, he was not entirely abandoned. His unique Seven Star Blessing, bestowed by his patron God, followed him through reincarnation. Armed with this Blessing and the Demonic Magic of his new race, Simon now harbors an ambition greater than ever before… to rise higher than he ever did as the Hero of Earth. To become a God. But the path forward is far from simple. Betrayals from those he would never expect. Endless trials and tribulations. And the lingering question of identity… Should he cling to his past as a human hero, or embrace his nature as a demon to survive? Can Simon abandon his hatred and live among demons? Will he erase his past entirely and fully embrace his demonic nature? Will his thirst for revenge drag him deeper into darkness… Or will he rise above it? In the end… Will he be devoured… or will he devour all?
