The Broken Halo Chapter 593

Chapter 593 – 592: Questions

Simon, Akaza, and Sonya reached their rooms after climbing the stairs.

They each chose a room, then they went to the room Simon chose.

Akaza gently placed Simon on the bed, though Simon still hissed in pain despite how gentle Akaza was.

After placing Simon on the bed, Akaza and Sonya looked at him with varying expressions.

Simon looked at both of them, and he could guess what was going on in their minds.

From the moment he appeared before them and began his escape from the Shadowgrave Clan, he had done so many things.

Any living being that was able to think properly would surely have questions.

A lot of questions.

’They did well not asking me some things for this long.’

Simon also knew that the reason why Akaza and Sonya had not asked him any question was because of their environment and situation.

However, now that they were relatively safe, the urge to ask those questions was like a volcano that was about to erupt.

Simon released a soft sigh, then he spoke.

“If you guys keep on looking at me like that, I’m going to think you want to eat me or that you have nefarious intentions toward me.”

Sonya’s lips curled into a smile.

“Well, maybe we do.”

Simon shook his head very slightly with a light smile.

“Ask your questions. I’ll answer what I can.”

The eyes of Akaza and Sonya brightened when they heard his words.

From what they knew about Simon and his nature, they were fairly certain that he would not entertain any of their questions.

But to their surprise, he gave them the opportunity to ask.

Akaza was the first.

“Who possessed you and gave you the power to fight Sunless?”

Simon looked at him.

It wasn’t a surprise that this was the first question he was asked, and he replied.

“An ancient and powerful being. I don’t know much about her, but she was the one that gave me the power to battle Sunless.”

Akaza and Sonya raised their brows in surprise.

Both of them actually thought Simon would say that it was an old demon that was in him, not an old demoness.”

Sonya could not help but mumble softly underneath her breath.

“So you most likely have an old hag inside of you.”

Simon’s lips twitched, and just as he expected, Lilith responded to her words.

[Let me take control of your body for just ten seconds. Just ten seconds. No. Five seconds is enough.]

[I need to teach this unruly brat a lesson she’ll never forget.]

[Who the fuck did she just call old and ugly?]

Simon gave a dry laugh at both Lilith’s words and Sonya’s words.

He had a feeling that both Sonya and Lilith would surely get along.

To appease Lilith so that she won’t have the thought of doing something he won’t like, he spoke.

“She’s actually not an old hag. She’s very beautiful.”

Sonya and Akaza were taken aback. Even Lilith was taken aback.

Though she already knew how beautiful she was and does not need any man to tell her, Simon saying it just made her feel… strange.

They had never heard Simon call a demoness beautiful. In fact, they had never seen Simon show any interest in a demoness.

The only demoness that many believed he was interested in was Sunless, but they saw how that ended.

“I see. No wonder you never showed any interest in other demonesses. You already have her in mind.” Akaza mumbled with a tone of realization.

However, when he looked at Simon, his expression could not help but become strange.

If Simon was already interested or in love with the being in him, how was their relationship going to be like?

And…

’How are they going to fuck?’

Just as Akaza had this thought, Simon looked at him with a slight raise of his brow.

“And who told you that I’m interested in her?”

Akaza and Sonya gave him surprised looks, but before they could say anything, Simon quickly spoke.

“Ask your other questions and move on from that topic of love and relationship.”

Akaza and Sonya looked at one another before looking back at Simon.

Though they were extremely curious about Lilith, they decided not to ask anymore questions about her out of caution.

Who knew if one of their questions would truly anger the ancient being in Simon.

Sonya asked her question this time around.

“Why did you want to go that withered tree so badly? It was also because of that place that Sunless exposed herself and stabbed you in the back… What is there?”

Simon looked at Sonya with an expressionless face, and for a few seconds he didn’t answer.

He contemplated on whether he should tell her or if he should keep them to himself.

He closed his eyes for a moment, then he released a deep sigh.

“I’m not completely sure what is down there, and the truth is that telling you what’s down there might bring more harm to you than good.”

Sonya and Akaza frowned, and they both had displeased expressions.

They didn’t completely believe Simon because there was a very high possibility that whatever was down there was so valuable to the point that Simon did not want to share it with them.

And they were right.

When Simon saw this, his lips curled into a strained smile and he decided to assure them.

“Don’t worry. As long as you guys follow me, I’ll tell you what exactly is down there. You’ll find out eventually.”

The frowns on the faces of Akaza and Sonya eased up a little, then they both nodded.

Akaza asked another question.

“What was that sword you used back there? I never saw you use a sword in the academy. What were those black flames.”

He paused, then he looked at the Chaos Wraps.

“And what is that black wraps around your arms? I thought they were normal black wraps, but they’re not.”

Akaza asked all these questions, and the room became silent as Akaza and Sonya awaited Simon’s answers.

‘How cliché. I’ve read countless novels where the Hero is betrayed by their companions… but was I wrong to trust those who fought beside me for nearly six decades?’ ----- Betrayal. A word many live in fear of. A word some never expect… until it happens. A word that completely shatters one’s view of life. Just like any other heroic tale, Simon was the Hero of Earth, the one who defeated the Demon King and was about to end the war between races with his companions. Yet, in the end, he was betrayed by his own companions for reasons he never understood. Instead of finding death, Simon found rebirth. To his horror, he reincarnated as the very race he had devoted his entire life to exterminating… a race he despised, feared, and was disgusted by. Reborn as a demon infant within one of the most impoverished demon tribes, Simon found himself at the very bottom of a world he once sought to destroy. Fortunately, he was not entirely abandoned. His unique Seven Star Blessing, bestowed by his patron God, followed him through reincarnation. Armed with this Blessing and the Demonic Magic of his new race, Simon now harbors an ambition greater than ever before… to rise higher than he ever did as the Hero of Earth. To become a God. But the path forward is far from simple. Betrayals from those he would never expect. Endless trials and tribulations. And the lingering question of identity… Should he cling to his past as a human hero, or embrace his nature as a demon to survive? Can Simon abandon his hatred and live among demons? Will he erase his past entirely and fully embrace his demonic nature? Will his thirst for revenge drag him deeper into darkness… Or will he rise above it? In the end… Will he be devoured… or will he devour all?
