The Broken Halo Chapter 86

Chapter 86: A Sword & Black Wraps

Simon was surprised when he saw the ring, and when he picked it up from the pile of bones, his eyes widened in disbelief.

“A spatial ring?”

Simon was more surprised because he had been thinking of how he could take the bones with him, and he suddenly saw a spatial ring.

“Am I actually lucky for once?”

Simon observed the spatial ring with disbelief, then he sent his demonic energy into the ring.

His eyes went wide when he immediately perceived how large the spatial ring was.

“This- this is as large as three large continents combined together. Who the fuck was this guy?”

Simon stared at the pile of bones with wide eyes and disbelief.

On Earth, humans had no need for spatial rings because their systems had an inbuilt storage space for them to keep things.

Though, some like him, also had spatial rings which he took from demons.

The largest spatial ring which he took from the Demon King of Death only had a space that was as large as an average-sized continent.

But this pile of bones on the floor had a spatial ring with even more space?

How could Simon not be shocked?

How could he not be excited?

’Could he have been a demon from ancient times? Or a demon who had reached a realm above the Demon King?’

’If that’s true, then…’

With excitement visible in his eyes, he quickly looked into the spatial ring in search of treasures.

His lips twitched slightly, then he brought out two books, a mask, a sword, and long black and thin wraps.

“Just five things? No blood essence?”

Simon released a soft sigh.

“Well, asking for a blood essence would have been too much actually.”

Simon observed the scrolls, mask, the sword, and the black wraps.

The first thing he took was the sword.

Unlike the sword outside, this sword was still in perfect condition.

It was a long black blade that seemed to swallow the light of the cave. It had a thin crimson edge that glowed like smoldering embers.

Veins of faint dark heat ran through the blade as if a dark fire lived inside of it. The handle was matte black, wrapped in scorched leather, and the guard resembled broken angel wings that were frozen mid-burn.

Simon held the sword and swung it a few times.

As he swung it, the air became which was sliced by the crimson edge caught on fire for a fraction of a second.

“What a good sword. I finally have a good sword after sixteen years in this realm.”

Simon inspected every part of the sword deeply, and when he saw that there was nothing wrong with the sword, he was relieved and glad.

“It might just be as good as my sword which was created by the blacksmiths of divine realm.”

“I’ll have to take it to a blacksmith or an appraiser to know its grade and all its abilities. But it’ll have to be an appraiser or blacksmith I trust to a satisfactory degree.”

Simon then looked at the Miser’s Ring on his right hand.

The Miser’s Ring was one of the reasons why he had been able to completely overpower Jath and his companions.

The Miser’s Ring passively reduced how much demonic energy he used by half, and it was an extremely powerful artifact.

“Zaglur only told me this ability of the ring. There might be more he didn’t tell me about or more he didn’t know.”

Simon suddenly realized something and he frowned.

“Where is the sheath?”

He looked around the cave, but he saw no sheath. He then looked inside the ring once again, but he still found nothing.

“A sword without a sheath?”

He stared at the sword with a deep frown as he wondered how he was meant to use a sword without a sheath.

“Well, this sucks.”

A thought then appeared in his mind, and he recalled a particular swordsman of Earth who carried a peculiar sword and sword sheath with him.

He looked at the black wraps.

“Don’t tell me.”

He held the black wraps, but something he didn’t expect happened.

The black wraps suddenly came to life and coiled around his arms light a serpent.

Simon’s pupils constricted into pinholes, and his reflexes instantly kicked in.

He jumped back, but it was too late.

The black wraps were attached to him, and when he tried to let go of it, it refused to leave him.

He tried to rip it off his arms, but he instantly stopped the moment he felt his flesh and muscles getting pulled along with the black wraps.

“Shit.” He cursed.

He couldn’t remove the black wraps from his arms unless he wanted to be completely crippled for life and not use his both of his arms.

“The hell.”

Just as Simon cursed, the last of the black wraps curled up to his forearm.

Black flames suddenly erupted from the wraps, and Simon suddenly screamed.

“ARRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!”

The black flames burned his arms and melted his skin with the wraps, and the pain he felt was even worse than all the tortures he had gone through.

’I knew it! I fucking knew it! How could my shitty luck give me a good sword without taking something in return from me!’

’Fuck my luck!’

Simon gnashed his teeth and forced himself to resist the pain.

He was tired of screaming due to pain.

He was so sick and tired of it.

He stared at the flaming black wraps with a determined and cold expression, and the black wraps seemed to respond to his emotions.

It burned hotter and hotter, and Simon began laughing madly.

“HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!”

“I HATE THIS FUCKING LIFE OF PAIN!!!!”

“ROOOAAAARRRRR!!!!!”

He released the roar of ancient demonic tiger, and fortunately for him, the room still had a functioning formation that made no sound to leave the room.

The owner of the room already expected such a thing to happen, which was why they had placed a noise cancellation formation that could last for millennia.

After some minutes, the flames died down, and Simon went unconscious due to the pain and exhaustion he felt.

A word many live in fear of. A word some never expect… until it happens. A word that completely shatters one’s view of life. Just like any other heroic tale, Simon was the Hero of Earth, the one who defeated the Demon King and was about to end the war between races with his companions. To his horror, he reincarnated as the very race he had devoted his entire life to exterminating… a race he despised, feared, and was disgusted by. Reborn as a demon infant within one of the most impoverished demon tribes, Simon found himself at the very bottom of a world he once sought to destroy. Fortunately, he was not entirely abandoned. But the path forward is far from simple. Betrayals from those he would never expect. Endless trials and tribulations. And the lingering question of identity… Should he cling to his past as a human hero, or embrace his nature as a demon to survive? Can Simon abandon his hatred and live among demons? Will he erase his past entirely and fully embrace his demonic nature? Will his thirst for revenge drag him deeper into darkness… Or will he rise above it? In the end… Will he be devoured… or will he devour all?
