SWISH!
Another soldier collapsed, his chest torn open by Roderic’s hooked blade.
Before the man even hit the ground, Roderic was already moving.
WHOOSH!
A spear shot towards his neck.
He ducked beneath it, twisting his body as his second blade swept forward.
Before it could reach the soldier, a knight jumped forward with an aura-covered shield.
CLANG!
Roderic’s weapon bounced off.
’This again,’ he thought. ’I need to kill them if I want to win.’
He kicked off the ground, rapidly shooting towards the knight.
Several spears appeared in his path once more.
But this time, Roderic didn’t pull back.
SHHHH!
Using his full momentum, he slid across the ground on his knees, dodging all the spears.
’Let’s see how you’ll do without feet!’
Both his blades moved at the same time, golden aura wrapping around their sharp edges.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
Two massive golden arcs shot out.
They swept across the ground at ankle height, catching everyone in their path completely off guard.
SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!
Two dozen soldiers suddenly lost their footing, their severed feet scattering across the road.
’’ARGHHHH!’’
Blood sprayed across the road as they fell to the ground.
Even the knights behind them weren’t spared.
Those who hadn’t brought down their shields in time suddenly found themselves collapsing alongside the soldiers they were supposed to protect.
’Perfect!’ Roderic thought, pushing himself back onto his feet. ’That should keep them out of the fight and block the soldiers behind them!’
With so many soldiers and knights incapacitated ahead, a massive opening had appeared in the enemy formation.
And he had no intention of letting it go to waste!
BOOM!
He immediately shot towards the left, heading straight for the enemies there.
The knights quickly recovered from their shock.
’’FUCK! HE’S COMING HERE!’’ one shouted. ’’MOVE IN FORMATION!’’
Five knights instantly moved together, slamming their aura-covered shields side by side.
Within seconds, a solid shield wall had formed.
’’SPEARMEN! BEHIND US!’’
Several soldiers rushed into position, lowering their spears over the knights’ shoulders.
The spearheads extended beyond the shields, forming a porcupine-like defense.
’’BRACE!’’
The knights lowered their stances, planting their feet firmly against the ground.
’’THRUST!’’
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
Several spears shot forward simultaneously.
Roderic’s eyes narrowed slightly.
Without hesitation, he threw his left hooked blade forward.
THUD!
It plunged into the throat of the center spearman.
Roderic instantly accelerated, rushing straight towards the small gap left by the fallen spear.
The remaining spearmen tried to adjust their weapons.
But he was already within striking distance.
’’WHAT?!’’ the knight shouted, his comrade’s blood blurring his sight.
The tip of Roderic’s remaining hooked blade had already lit up.
Before the knight could react, he swung out with all his might.
BOOOOM!!!
The knight’s aura-covered shield shattered on impact.
A massive hole was blasted straight through his shield and chest, sending blood and pieces of armor flying behind him.
Before he could let out a scream, his lifeless body collapsed.
’That’s two!’ he thought, stepping through the opening.
The eight remaining knights and soldiers desperately tried to force him back.
But it was already too late for that.
’’SHIT!’’ one shouted. ’’GET HIM OUT!’’
The closest knight raised his shield, preparing to slam it into Roderic.
Roderic locked onto him instantly.
’Too slow!’
CLANG!
His hooked blade caught the upper edge of his shield.
With a powerful pull, he dragged it down.
At the same time, his other hooked blade came flying back to him.
WHOOSH!
He caught it without even looking.
SWISH!
The knight’s head flew into the air a split second later.
’’AHHHH!’’
Several soldiers rushed forward, fury in their eyes.
Roderic dashed forward, his body twisting and turning.
SWISH! SWISH!
His blade flashed through the air, cutting down two before they could even raise their weapons.
Suddenly, Roderic’s eyes narrowed.
’Behind,’ he thought. ’Think I didn’t notice?!’
He spun around, aura gathering around his foot.
BANG!
His kick slammed directly into a scrawny soldier’s chest.
’’WHAAAA!’’
The man was sent flying sideways.
THUD!
His body landed far to the side of the road.
CLANK! CLANK! CLANK!
Several bear traps snapped shut instantly.
The soldier didn’t even have time to react before his head was crushed.
Roderic’s attention had long since shifted elsewhere.
’’YOU BASTARD!’’
Two knights rushed towards him, their shields raised and longswords ready.
’’PUSH HIM BACK!’’
Roderic let out a deep breath.
’That’s not happening,’ he thought.
WHOOSH!
He immediately threw his left hooked blade to the side.
Instead of flying straight, a pull made the weapon curve through the air.
’’WATCH OUT!’’ one knight shouted.
The other immediately raised his shield to the side.
But the blade just barely managed to curve around its edge.
SWISH!
’’UGH!’’
It stabbed deep into his shoulder.
Roderic wasn’t idling around, though.
’Would that work?’ he thought, his eyes landing on a shield lying beside a dead soldier.
Gritting his teeth, he kicked it up and caught its handle.
Several memories of the Myriad Weapons and Sunforge Guardian techniques flashed through his mind.
That was all Roderic needed.
He shot forward, a bright aura gathering around the shield.
’’BRACE!’’ the uninjured knight shouted.
Despite the injury, both quickly raised their shields.
But Roderic didn’t slow down.
Instead, he poured even more aura into his own shield.
BOOOM!!!
The three shields collided.
A powerful shockwave erupted across the road.
’’ARGHHH!’’
The wounded knight was immediately sent tumbling back, his shield flying from his hands.
The other knight barely managed to remain standing.
But both his arms had gone numb.
Only Roderic remained unaffected.
He’d even dropped his shield, his blade already moving through the air.
SWISH!
The first knight collapsed.
’That’s seven!’ he thought. ’Just one more, then my flank is empty!’
Roderic immediately turned towards the wounded knight.
The man was desperately trying to push himself off the ground.
But before he could stand…
THWACK!
Roderic’s hooked blade plunged into his chest.
The knight instantly collapsed back to the ground.
For a moment, everything fell silent.
Roderic let out a deep, strained breath as he pulled his weapon free.
As his back straightened, his gaze swept across the battlefield.
’Fucking hell…’
More than forty bodies lay scattered across the road.
Most were dead, while some were so severely injured that they couldn’t pose a threat anymore.
But Roderic couldn’t even feel happy about it.
’How are there still so many of you bastards left…’
